I made the mistake of plugging my Wacom pen tablet in before installing the driver. Vista recognised the device and installed a default driver which does not work. The Driver installation disk will not install untill the default driver is uninstalled. How do i do this?
View 4 RepliesMy vista keeps locking up after various amounts of time, no matter whether its just idling, or im making the computer work hard. As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Also, it only detects 3.5Gb of the 4Gb of RAM I have in my system. PC Spec:
Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
Can not get my HP 7400 scanner to work after upgrading to Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Not the hardware - works fine under XP pro using same hardware configuration. Did a clean install, installed motherboard BIOS updates, scanner BIOS updates, Vista updates and the correct driver from HP. The scanner installed and Device Manager says device is working properly. When I try to scan, scanner initializes, starts to scan then locks up. Then can no longer be seen. ASUS M2N-E motherboard with AMD dual core. Other than that Vista works OK with the rest of my system
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have installed the correct driver for this belkin bluetooth usb dongle model: F8T012XX1 but in device manager, it has the belkin device and microsoft bluetooth enumerator, which is great. but when u get further down the list. it has a tab named "other devices" and then a subtab with "bluetooth peripheral device" which has an exclemation mark on it. i have searched for driver software using the update service but it cant find no update. i have looked for the name of the manufacturer but found nothing.i then disabled the unknown device, and sent a picture to my mobile phone. which confirmed that it was not the belkin bluetooth device. so i uninstalled the unknown device, restarted the computer. then when i logged in, it said that it had found a new device and wanted me to find the CD that came with it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had recent problems installing external hd's on Vista 64. I have run into problems with USB2.0 as well as eSATA. The drive will appear under the device manager under "disk drives". But it triggers the new harware wizard, which can't load a driver, which leads to an unknown device being listed. Even when the unknown device is listed the drive still appears under "disk drives".
The drive will appear under disk manager, but it is unaccesable. You can remove the partition but can not change the drive letters or format or create a new partition through the wizard. The wizard will go through the motions and then the Drive manager has a message asking to refresh or restart the console which has no effect...............
Attempting a clean install Vista 32 full OS (not an upgrade) on the below rig. Previously loaded XP without trouble. Now the following message.
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or a USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
I have tried loading XP again and Vista with the same message. Attempting to access the CD unsuccessful.
I have tried disconnecting the LG drive and using the Sony, same error message. LG has no drivers on site stated they are embedded in Vista...
I know this is a repetitive topic, but I can not seem to figure this one out. It is a HP Laptop DV9815nr. I do not know much about it as it is not mine, but the problem is the audio was cutting out and now there is nothing. The computer is not recognizing any type of audio device installed. Even in Device Manager, there is no option for Sound, game and controllers. I have tried downloading the driver and installing, but no luck there.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a pavilliion dv6000t, intel cpu laptop...anyhow...i look at the device manager, under intel pro 100, and 3945 intel wirles...it does not say device is running properly.....i have this stated-windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. the driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39) there are exclamation points besides everything in the networking adapter in device manager. what might be the problem here...is it the drivers for the 2 devices?

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB Mass Storage Device Access is denied" I found a KB article which seems to be related, but even after acquiring and installing the hotfix I still can't get the drive to install. Unfortunately Vista does not install the necessary USB mass storage driver and for that does not recognize the device. In device manager this is shown as "unknown device". I'm not able to use it and TomTom support told me that only the basic USB mass storage driver is needed and that is produced by the OS vendor.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I mananaged to get my Old HP PSC 500 to work on my HP Pavillion a6030n with VISTA gave up on the scanning part totally. Bought and installed a new I/O card to do this and tinkered for days! NOW, I realize I have NO SOUND searched all of the threads and experimented with various and sundry but to no avail. The speakers were old JBL PROs had been working changed them out for some old BOSTON speakers (also working on old Gateway) still getting the "No Audio Output Device Installed" and don't even get a "Sound and Video" portion in Device Manager!
Tried downloading Realtek AC97-Audio-Codec-driver-A397 as it was mentioned as a fix in another thread. No joy! Will installing another driver help this? I can't see why the card would be damaged as the previous install didn't go near it. I am not a total novice but small words would be helpful as my brainmatter is fried and not a lot of hair left on the head.
i have had no problems with my audio on my vista 32, until i recently put 4GB ram into my computer, switched it on and works fine, only problem was i lost my audio/realtec, i dont know why this happened, and i am unsure how to correct it and get it working again

All troubleshooting guides just tell me to enable the device, which is impossible as it says it is not installed as opposed to simply disabled. The first time I started playing with it, games and such, I had sound but I stupidly put in the CD that came with the computer that apparently is only for reinstalling. Now I have no sound. I went to the Gateway download site and downloaded a driver that said it was compatible to my computer but it doesn't work. View 8 Replies View Relatedso i just got internet to my computer after almost 2 years of it being out of commission, it still worked and we were able to play games like solitaire and the sims but there was no internet hooked up to it. it installed all kinds of updates and one night i was listening to music via wmp and the next day i went to listen and it said "no audio output device is installed"
i tried updating the device and it said that my driver was up to date.
i also tried uninstalling it and rebooting my computer and that didn't work.
i don't see any error messages in the device manager, i clicked the icon with the little magnifying glass and nothing showed up.
i don't know what else i can do, besides take my computer and throw it into traffic.
i have alot of music on this computer that i listen to on a daily basis and would hate to have to switch it all to a new computer, or even buy a new computer for that matter just because my speakers aren't working.
I had to use my restore disc for my windows vista. Since then I have no sound. Have red x on volume and it says no audio device installed.I have treid the uninstall and letting the computer install again, but that didnt work.
