View 5 RepliesSo I mananaged to get my Old HP PSC 500 to work on my HP Pavillion a6030n with VISTA gave up on the scanning part totally. Bought and installed a new I/O card to do this and tinkered for days! NOW, I realize I have NO SOUND searched all of the threads and experimented with various and sundry but to no avail. The speakers were old JBL PROs had been working changed them out for some old BOSTON speakers (also working on old Gateway) still getting the "No Audio Output Device Installed" and don't even get a "Sound and Video" portion in Device Manager!
Tried downloading Realtek AC97-Audio-Codec-driver-A397 as it was mentioned as a fix in another thread. No joy! Will installing another driver help this? I can't see why the card would be damaged as the previous install didn't go near it. I am not a total novice but small words would be helpful as my brainmatter is fried and not a lot of hair left on the head.
i have had no problems with my audio on my vista 32, until i recently put 4GB ram into my computer, switched it on and works fine, only problem was i lost my audio/realtec, i dont know why this happened, and i am unsure how to correct it and get it working again

I have tried downloading the latest driver, but it still doesn't appear to install. Does anyone know of a way to solve this - I've tried a lot of different things, but I still get the message that there is 'No Audio Output Device is Installed'.

All troubleshooting guides just tell me to enable the device, which is impossible as it says it is not installed as opposed to simply disabled. I have never had this problem before, as my laptop has in built speakers. how to solve this so I can actually get sound?

I do not know much about it as it is not mine, but the problem is the audio was cutting out and now there is nothing. The computer is not recognizing any type of audio device installed. Even in Device Manager, there is no option for Sound, game and controllers. I have tried downloading the driver and installing, but no luck there.
View 9 Replies View Relatedso i just got internet to my computer after almost 2 years of it being out of commission, it still worked and we were able to play games like solitaire and the sims but there was no internet hooked up to it. it installed all kinds of updates and one night i was listening to music via wmp and the next day i went to listen and it said "no audio output device is installed"
i tried updating the device and it said that my driver was up to date.
i also tried uninstalling it and rebooting my computer and that didn't work.
i don't see any error messages in the device manager, i clicked the icon with the little magnifying glass and nothing showed up.
i don't know what else i can do, besides take my computer and throw it into traffic.
i have alot of music on this computer that i listen to on a daily basis and would hate to have to switch it all to a new computer, or even buy a new computer for that matter just because my speakers aren't working.
I had to use my restore disc for my windows vista. Since then I have no sound. Have red x on volume and it says no audio device installed.I have treid the uninstall and letting the computer install again, but that didnt work.

Now my computer keeps telling me that I have no audio output device installed. Can not get my HP 7400 scanner to work after upgrading to Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Not the hardware - works fine under XP pro using same hardware configuration. Did a clean install, installed motherboard BIOS updates, scanner BIOS updates, Vista updates and the correct driver from HP. The scanner installed and Device Manager says device is working properly. When I try to scan, scanner initializes, starts to scan then locks up. Then can no longer be seen. ASUS M2N-E motherboard with AMD dual core. Other than that Vista works OK with the rest of my system
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have installed the correct driver for this belkin bluetooth usb dongle model: F8T012XX1 but in device manager, it has the belkin device and microsoft bluetooth enumerator, which is great. but when u get further down the list. it has a tab named "other devices" and then a subtab with "bluetooth peripheral device" which has an exclemation mark on it. i have searched for driver software using the update service but it cant find no update. i have looked for the name of the manufacturer but found nothing.i then disabled the unknown device, and sent a picture to my mobile phone. which confirmed that it was not the belkin bluetooth device. so i uninstalled the unknown device, restarted the computer. then when i logged in, it said that it had found a new device and wanted me to find the CD that came with it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop (Dell XPS M1330) running Vista Home Premium 32bit featuring an HDMI port and, as far as I can see, a soundcard called SigmaTel High Definition Audio. I regularly watch videos on my LCD TV using HDMI and I am constantly annoyed by the fact that the audio output doesn't automatically switch over to HDMI when the cable is connected (or vice versa when the cable is disconnected).
One would expect it to do so as this is how it generally works when f.ex. headphones are connected and indeed, on my laptop, the audio switches from speakers to headphones automatically without any problems. My solution to the problem is to manually change the default output device to HDMI and then restarting the media player. I cannot see why this operation cannot be automatic, and therefore I ask of you all if there is any way to accomplish an automatic switch from speakers to HDMI when an HDMI cable is connected
I wanted to attach a TomTom Go 720T to my Windows Vista Home Premium notebook. Unfortunately Vista does not install the necessary USB mass storage driver and for that does not recognize the device. In device manager this is shown as "unknown device". I'm not able to use it and TomTom support told me that only the basic USB mass storage driver is needed and that is produced by the OS vendor.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Home Premium 64 on a Sony Vaio Laptop (CS170F). I'm having a curious problem: Yesterday I plugged into the machine the dongle of my wireless logitech mouse, and for some reason the machine said "Your unknown device is ready to use" (my OS is in spanish, the messages may not be accurately translated). Since then, an annoying message pops every few seconds warning about an "unrecognized USB device", that "didn't work as expected". The best part is this, if I click on the tray icon, sometimes the informative dialog window is emply, an other times shows all the USB ports in the system plus one extra with a "unknown UBS device", even without any device plugged into the system. I've tryed removing the unknown device from the device manager, but it shows up again.
I found and installed SP1 for Vista. However, now I have in the corner of my lower right screen, a new message showing:
Windows Vista (TM)
Evaluation copy. Build 6001
I have a registered version of Vista Home Premium, and of course, since I had installation problems when I first got it, I can't get help from Microsoft except here now.!
I up graded my CPU and the system freezs constantly, I have ruled outHeat, and PSU, and RAM. I dont get any freezing when in Safe boot mode,So far.
I get this error when it freezs and I have to reset button hard boot.Also All the USB power goes dead so no access to key board or mouse.

I've upgraded my ram from 2GB to 4GB the bios reports 4096 but Vista
reports 2048 the exact same value before the upgrade. I'm aware of
why Vista doesn't report all of the add'l memory but in my case I see no
change at all does any one have any ideas?
I bought my pc about a year and half ago. Had an x86 Vista Ultimate edition on it and it all worked fine. 4 GB RAM and a good CPU made it run smooth. I then decided to upgrade my RAM to 8 GB and also upgraded my Windows with it to an x64 Vista Ultimate. Ever since I upgraded, my pc has been crashing like mad. When I play games my pc crashes constantly in a timeframe ranging from 20mins to 2 hours.
I freezes completely and it ends up in me having to force hard reset my pc. I don't know what the problem is atm and in all fairness it's driving me mad. Sometimes I boot my pc, I check mails and whoops, frozen and have to reboot. Is it possible that there's a compatibility problem with the RAM and my x64 Vista?

I have lots of speed issues and was told by someone that this was not enough RAM to operate Vista. My laptop maximum it 2 GB so I swapped out the two 512 MB sticks for two 1 GB sticks. Under Control Panel>System, it is still only displaying 894 MB RAM. How do I get this to display the upgraded RAM?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI received the Microsoft Download email and followed the link to read about SP1 for Vista. It recommends installing via the Windows Update site. Every time (and by whatever means) I try to access the Windows Update site the Vista Windows Update tool dives in and tells me that there are no updates available. I am sure I would know if a 65MB file had downloaded and installed but I could be wrong.
Two questions:
1) How can I tell if my system has upgraded itself to SP1 without my involvement?
2) As the first answer is almost certain to be that it cannot, how can I get the onboard Windows Update to let me through to the web site?
I had been running Vista Ultimate x64 for a few months and recently found that I can only use the original USB mouse?! Installation of any USB mouse would show a new "USB Human Interface Device" in Device Manager but it just won't work. Installation of the very same model of my original mouse didn't work neither. So basically I am stick with the current mouse?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my graphics card from a Radeon 9600 to 3650 and that is where I struck problems. The standard VGA adaptor isn't working or became corrupt and when I installed the Radeon driver, the system froze after a short while. I have tried deleting adaptor, but that also removes "Display Adaptors" from the Device Manager, so even if I install the 3650 driver, it won't appear as installed. I have tried doing a clean install of Vista but the same thing occurs. On the other hand I have no problem with Windows 7 RC1 where everything works perfectly. What purpose does the VGA serve anyway since I still have a display without it working?
