View 4 RepliesI have windows xp pro and vista on my computer. I find I like OE 6.0 on my xp pro to be much faster than windows mail, and I need to switch to windows mail. Unfortunately, i have several accounts on windows mail, and I have forgotten their passwords. So I exported each account in windows mail, and have saved the internet account settings (in *.iaf files). When I use the import function in OE 6.0 (Tools->accounts->Import), it won't let me import any account settings. I don't remember the passwords of a few of those accounts (which currently work with windows mail), but I need to create such accounts in OE 6.0. Is there a way I can migrate account settings in windows mail to OE 6.0?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Outlook account on my old computer which ran Windows XP and i tried to switch it over to my new computer which runs vista. My first problem is that none of my mail or address book downloaded. i can get over that. But I cant receive any mail. I can send it though. Ive always had little quirky problems with Outlook but now it has a Vista twist. Here is that message I get:
Account: 'erica', Server: 'pop3.catalog.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authorization first', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18
I have added Windows mail as an accepted program in Windows Firewall. I have unistalled Norton Virus. Ive removed the account twice and readded it. I have contacted support for Outlook, They say my anti virus program may need to be set up to accept Windows mail but I think Ive done that now by changing the Firewall. I read on here that maybe I should switch to a Windows live account but email address is a buisness account so can i just switch servers?
Is there a web page that I could use to import the folders in my Windows Mail to Outlook 2007 somewhere? I am not sure what to do with the Import feature, what to choose, etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOur new computer vista home premium, I use windows mail as e-mail (no outlook avaible because I only have Office home/studend edition). On old computer (windows xp) I used Outlook, I copied al my e-mails to an external harddisk, so now I try to open the mail (on ex. harddisk) and can't open them because they are all msg files (?) I searched every where if it is possible to open these files. If I change the extension to open them (e.g. word etc.) it is still abacadabra for me. Maybe I had to change the extension of the e-mails before I copied them to ex.harddisk??? Old computer is gone already so I have a "problem" now. I don't know I this is the right communitie

Whenever I perform a search of any of my mail folders, I get no results and a message saying 'Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed. Click here for more details'. When I click for more details, I receive a message saying 'Outlook is currently indexing your items'. And telling me that 7695 items are reminaing in personal folders, and 17987 items are remaining across all open mailboxes. The problem is that this number never goes down, and has been like this ever since I started using the program. Could it be that the indexing is stuck
somehow?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have got Auslogics Defrag program and after each defrag I do it tells me I have a number of junk files, at present 971 sometimes its way over 1000 and I then do a disk cleanup hoping to get rid of them, but after installing another game or program of some sort, again I am told I have several junk files. I would like to know how I can get rid as it also tells me that they can slow the PC down and lessen performance, not that my PC is a slouch, far from it, but I still don't like the idea of junk files on my PC and would like for once to sort this out, as before I have never taken any notice of it, perhaps I should have, but thats me, untidy as always!
