View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm learning to use Vista (new computer purchased yesterday) and my old PC as XP and Office 2003. I only use the calendar feature of Outlook and was wondering if there's a way to import my outlook file (outlook.pst) to Vista Calendar (seems to only import .ics files) as I don't yet have Outlook 2007 installed on my Vista PC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was using Outlook (not Outlook Express) running under Windows XP on my old computer. I carefully backed up all my folders in which I keep my e-mail messages. I want to import the folders into Windows Mail running under Windows Vista on my new computer. When I try, the menu invites me to select the format I want to import e-mail from and I select Microsoft Outlook. I then get an error message saying "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client". Of course , this means nothing to me. Can anyone help ? Does it mean that I must go out and buy a new version of Outlook ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to import directly from an Outlook data file (.pst)? The wizard seems to only work if you have an active installation, which I do not after upgrading from XP to Vista 64 (along with a new motherboard, processor and memory). I had the older version of Office Home and Student that came with Outlook, but Office 2007 Home & Student does not.

Or is there some other way to import the Outlook.pst file that I exported from WinXP/Outlook?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have windows xp pro and vista on my computer. I find I like OE 6.0 on my xp pro to be much faster than windows mail, and I need to switch to windows mail. Unfortunately, i have several accounts on windows mail, and I have forgotten their passwords. So I exported each account in windows mail, and have saved the internet account settings (in *.iaf files). When I use the import function in OE 6.0 (Tools->accounts->Import), it won't let me import any account settings. I don't remember the passwords of a few of those accounts (which currently work with windows mail), but I need to create such accounts in OE 6.0. Is there a way I can migrate account settings in windows mail to OE 6.0?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIm trying to import my mail folders/messages from Window Mail to Outlook. In Outlook, I choose, File, Import, Import from another file/program, Windows mail. Outlook finds old mail files (from Outlook express) and imports them perfectly. Problem is they are not my windows mail files. I dont know where outlook is looking for the files or how to find the outlook files to delete them and move the windows mail files to where Outlook is looking.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Outlook account on my old computer which ran Windows XP and i tried to switch it over to my new computer which runs vista. My first problem is that none of my mail or address book downloaded. i can get over that. But I cant receive any mail. I can send it though. Ive always had little quirky problems with Outlook but now it has a Vista twist. Here is that message I get:
Account: 'erica', Server: 'pop3.catalog.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authorization first', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18
I have added Windows mail as an accepted program in Windows Firewall. I have unistalled Norton Virus. Ive removed the account twice and readded it. I have contacted support for Outlook, They say my anti virus program may need to be set up to accept Windows mail but I think Ive done that now by changing the Firewall. I read on here that maybe I should switch to a Windows live account but email address is a buisness account so can i just switch servers?
Is there a web page that I could use to import the folders in my Windows Mail to Outlook 2007 somewhere? I am not sure what to do with the Import feature, what to choose, etc.

Do I need to download the file that fixes messages stuck in the outbox? View 6 Replies View RelatedI restored my vista OS using a system image utility provided by Alienware. It created a backup folder on the c drive with all the old files in it, including user profiles. I changed the owner of all files and folders back to my account and tried to delete it, but got the UAC messages that I need to allow administrator rights to do so. After clicking yes, I got a message that permission was denied with the only options of "Try Again" or "Cancel". After making visible all hidden files and folders, I was able to drill down to the one file I could not delete. I've used the "take ownership" steps in Vista explorer properties, and also the "takeown" dos commands, which report success that the Administrators group or my account which belongs to the administrators group, is the owner of the file, and that I have full control of it. Even so, I cannot delete this file. In DOS, I get access denied. In Explorer, I get the "you need permission to perform this action" message, with "try again" or "cancel", and it shows that my account (or administrators group, doing it that way) is the owner. It's just this one file. I was able to delete all other files and folders around this file, but just not this one.
I wonder if the folder path is so long or so nested that UAC fails to figure it out? It was in users\appdata
oamingetc. Or is the file corrupt? The file is a tempory file created by one of those biometric devices when logged on with your fingerprint, and is supposed to disappear when you log off, but it seems to have remained there because of a hard boot. Is there a utility I can use that can nuke this one lone file?
I have 2 accounts on my laptop running Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. One for me and one for my wife. Currently she can't see any email received using my account. The goal is to see all email messages both for her and me. Data files were stored in different locations C:Users<me>...Outlook.pst and C:Users<wife>...Outlook.pst. Well we couldn't see inbox of each other while we are sharing the same email address. I wanted to add her data file to my Personal Folders and my data file to her respectively. When I try to add the data file I've got the error: "The file C:Users<wife>...Outlook .pst cannot be opened". I check that I do have Full permissions for this file.

I am unable to open the .pst file with any existing extension or program offered by vista. I need them desperately....and soon.
View 9 Replies View RelatedForgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.
