How Does Ready Boost Work, Add More Usb Drives And Use More Ready Boost To Up Ram

2) I have a 2 gig usb drive that im using with ready boost but I havent noticed a memor difference in my graphics applications.
3) Can I add more usb drives and use more ready boost to up my ram?
Im a noivce to Vista.. I am runing 2 gigs of ram on my laptop a dell (hell) and I have running - 3d max 7, photoshop cs3 extended and usually either IE or flock running to upload my images to the web. I have a 2 gig usb drive hooked up using ready boost - it is allways flashing.. any way to add another usb drive to use as ram? or overclock the 2gig usb stick?

Feb 6, 2009I get the option to "Speed up my system using Readyboost" when i put a (4g) SD card into my computer, but then when i click it, there is no readyboost tab. It is my understanding that I have to enable this in the systems.sfc,buuuut.... I have tried cmd prompting sfc/scannow, and it tells me "You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility." Note: I am not trying to remote connect. I am trying to enable this locally on this laptop on this administrator account. Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

May 31, 2009I have a laptop with 2Gb, Vista Ultimate, and an SD slot I use for ReadyBoost. I currently have a fast 4Gb SD card, but noticed the price on 16Gb SD cards has gone way down. Would there be any benefit to replacing my 4Gb with a 16Gb, given that I only have 2Gb of RAM? Could ReadyBoost make use of it all? Would I notice any difference?

Every time, however, i go to use ready boost on the formatted lank drive, it pops up this device will not work as a ready boost device, or something along those lines.

Aug 11, 2008Recently, after varying times of general computer usage (internet, e-mail) ranging from 5 minutes to an hour, I'll get a BSOD, with the above title. I'll attach the dump files, and include the code from it below. I've tried some troubleshooting of my own. I've run memtest86+ on each of my 4 1-gig RAM modules, all clean. I've run Prime95, clean. I've installed new video drivers. I've run a diskcheck, and used Western Digital's diagnostic utility, clean. The culprit always is ntfs.sys. Should I try to repair my windows, or replace the ntfs.sys with a new one?. Also, I don't have any readboost of USB storage devices plugged in.

Apr 25, 2008I just wonder if he has been tempered by all the people asking him "what is it with that vista, why did you release it with so many problems?" questions by friends and technical savvy folk. I'm sure he might not be accepting how bad vista is out in the open. but he has a problematic product in his hands.. If we had a way to snoop into what he really thinks about vista, I think it would be a big surprise for fanboys. I'm sure he is wishing vista would just go away... perhaps that's why they are pushing hard to get win7 ready.

May 11, 2008i hav a new asus lappy with the main hd drive partitioned in 2 plus recovery section (as it comes), and 2 external usb hdd in enclosures. am running vista ultimate, i am the administrator of the system, only user, no guest accounts. UAC is off. now my problem is that ALL the drives have turned them selves into "ready only" and i cannot delete any folders, files or stuff. click on a folder an check properties, "read only" highlighted. uncheck it, it comes up with a box asking if i want to change this option, click yes, goes off, comes back saying i need admin rights to do this. but i am the admin of the system. as far as i know i havent changed anything.

Jul 1, 2008I have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).

Apr 21, 2009I have had Windows Vista 64 for 2 Months now and of that period of time it worked soundly for about 2 Weeks. I am NOT an irresponsible User, I don't just delete Data, I know a little something about computing, I don't visit or download from dubious sites etc.
1) Without any reason software suddently doesn't work.
a) I installed a Antivirussoftware - after 3 Weeks it suddently didn't work any more (Kaspersky) I couldn't reinstall it.
b) I installed a new Antivirussoftware - after 5 days it didn't work anymore.
c) 4 days later I started to get errormessages "Windows Defender doesn't work any more" - "Windows Hostprocess doesn't work anymore"
RAM Won`t Work Like It Did
Sep 3, 2008Well, my Memory RAM doesn`t work like it used to.
Later on, my Memory RAM Score was like 5,9 on RAM and now it is 4,8 after i formatted my computer. I`m sometimes experiencing some slowdowns, like i type a entire word, and after 3 seconds it shows up. Or i scroll down, and after like 4 , 5 seconds the page shows up.
OBS: The Paging file is managed by the System ( I Used to let it on 4 mb )

Dec 4, 2008I can't play Word Riot or Upwords. I could before SP 1. What could be the problem? These Service packs are more trouble than they are helpful.
