I hold a number of emails which I received whilst an officer of a charity, and now need to transfer them to a new officer. I want to put them on a removable disc, but as copy and paste doesn't seem to be allowed, I am lost.
I built a new PC.Running Vista Premium Home Version(64).I have a lot of sub folders on my old Laptop, running XP pro.How can I get the files or the whole folder onto the new PC? I do not have the software for transfer utility in Vista. I do not know where the file is for my mail folders.I thought I could copy them to CD or thumb drive and then transfer to new PC?? I am running Thunderbird right now.I tried to set up multiple user accounts in windows mail but see it can not be done.
I've been using Vista for a few years and I've never used a third party firewall for my internet connection. I have a direct ethernet connection from my modem to my laptop, so no hardware firewall AFAIK, and as for anti-virus, I've been using Avast home free edition with no problems so far. I've never considered installing a 3rd party firewall - I just leave Windows' default firewall settings enabled. My questions is, do any of you believe that it's neccesary to have a firewall, and if so, which do you use? How would you rate it's performance? (I'm looking for free firewalls that perform well) I've read about Comodo and Zone alarm (I believe that's what it's called) but I've also read how they are essentially useless. I'm looking for one that won't be too much of a nuisance, ex: one that’s incompatible with other programs.
I have been using Windows Mail in the Vista OS for the past 2 years. I have built a new computer and will be running Windows 7. I want to run Office 2003 on the new machine with MS Outlook. Question: How do I transfer my addrerss book and messages from Windows Mail in Vista over to MS Outlook?
I just got a new laptop that doens't have MS Outlook. I want to transfer my .pst files from my old computer to my new one but it doesn't seem to work. If Windows Mail won't accept any .pst files - is there another Mail program that might (for free or affordable price)?

I am getting a new computer with a Vista OS. I have been using OE email on my XP computer. Is there a way to transfer all of my folders and my address book from OE to the new Windows Mail? Need getting all of my OE 'stuff' from my present XP computer into the new Windows Mail I will have on the new computer.
Let it be known that if you purchase the above OS, you will not be able to transfer any of your e-mail messages or contacts from your old 32 bit system to the new 64 bit system. Even if you attempt to download Outlook Express, it is 32 bit and will not download and instal, therefore, you can't imnport your Outlook files into Outlook Express to convert their file extension to something compatible with Windows Mail, which is the new e-mail program.
OH, before I forget, I want to thank Microsoft for the laser/wireless mouse and keyboard configuration. My Device Manager does not recognize the keyboard as a wireless keyboard, instead it ;ists it as a "HID", (Human Input Device", or dome crap like that, and my mouse and keyboard continually freeze.
I've downloaded emails for my mum and want to be able to take them to her as she's not got internet at the moment. I use windows mail and she's on OE. How can I convert or save them to a memory stick in a format that her OE will be able to understand?
I'd like to transfer all my messages from Windows mail to Outlook Express... I just can't figure out how. how to do it or at least saying it if it's not possible? I'm all ears!
I am attempting to transfer files & settings using the Belkin Easy Transfer cable from an XP computer to a Vista computer. All starts well by showing that the two computers are connected. But after finding the files and settings and providing the amount of data to be transferred, it starts gathering information but then shows a flashing disconnection icon in the upper right of both computers' transfer windows and freezes. This happens at a different place each time, but early in the procedure (after about 10 minutes). Would anyone have any advice? I have done everything by the book, as far as I'm aware.
I have only a trial period for Outlook 2007, now the trial has expired, & I only got very limited features, so I started using WindowsMail. How can I transfer to WindowsMail all my old mail that was sent to Outlook?
Is it possible to load a 32 bit version of AutoCAD 2009 so my third party software will work? If not, what are some other options? Because I need the third party software to do my job. I must have the 32 bit version of AutCAD.
I read in one of the posts that 3d party defrager could mess up start speed and comp performance, whereas vista's built-in defrager keeps certain files in ceratin places to increase efficiency and speed.
When starting 3rd party app there is a Windows popup warning about missing digiital signature certificate. Which Vista settings are responsible for that message? I need to disable it.
I've just upgraded to a new pc with vista and windows mail from Xp & outlook express (with virgin). To save my files and emails etc I used windows easy transfer software and copied the files to an external hard drive and then loaded it to the new PC. I initially had problems as my modem didn't install but virgin sent me a wireless connector and all seemed OK. However, when I click on send/receive mail I get an error message 'some errors occured while processing the requsted tasks - please see details below.' But there are no details! I have 3 email addresses.
If I click on the little arrow next to send/rec and then click on each email separately there is no problem. Equally, if I click on 'receive all' there is no problem. When I click on send/rec the first time I open windows mail there is no problem, but thereafter always the error message. I've had Virgin remotely controlling the pc for 90 minutes and they can't suss it!
Also, bizarrely at the top of the page it says inbox - outlook express provided by virgin net even though I appear to be running windows mail (it certainly isn't the usual outlook I have on my old pc). Did I inadvertently load outlook as well as my emails on top of windows mail and they've kind of merged?
Windows Vista Basic sp1. Im using a 3rd party firewall program. In Administrative Tools---Services it shows Windows Firewall status as Started. But, in Security Center it shows my 3rd party firewall being On but Windows Firewall being off. Also, in Administrative Tools---Windows Firewall with Advanced Security is showing Windows Firewall being on in Domain Profile. Is this normal? Why would one show Windows Firewall as On and another show it as Off?
Actually, I am not very good at iPod stuff and I always make a mess up about my iTunes and iPod. But now it is very easy for me to do with my iTunes and iPod, I can easily transfer data between my iPod nano and iPhone, backup my iPod data in my computer and put songs and videos from my computer to my iPod/iPhone without iTunes.
I have a HP desktop running Vista premium. I "had" an Emachine that ran XP, but it died. (I think the power supply went out) Whatever the case I am not going to get the XP computer fixed, but I do want some files off the old harddrive out of it. How do I do that? I'm hearing of a USB adapter of some sort that will do it...is that true? I went on Ebay, saw some USB's but am not sure they will do what I need for them to do.
I have a new computer with an OEM version of Vista Home Basic. I have an old computer with an up to date retail version of XP including the registration/sn number. I DO NOT have the original XP disk. How do I transfer XP via CD/DVD to a second partition on my new computer?
Want to transfer music/videos from iPod onto your new laptop? or want to get all songs and movies back to your formated computer from your iPod Touch? Or just got a new iPod that you want to put songs onto, but the songs are only on your old iPod...More. If you came across one of these, the following iPod to PC transfer and iPod to mac transfer program guides would help you solve your problem easily.....
I got as far as connecting the transfer cable on both computers. The action lights flickered on both for about 15min and then they stopped. I waited for another half an hour but nothing further was happening, so I eliminated the transfer Windows. I found that no data has been transferred although both have Win.Vista Business.
I have a data DVD of some 2.25 Gb which I want to transfer to my PC. I have tried various methods including creating a a new folder and transferring the DVD contents, creating a folder in 'C', but every time I get a message saying that the DVD is too big (or such words).
I have 2 vista and 2 xp mechines on my network. When I transfer files between my 2 vista mechines I see transfer rates between 5 and 7 mgs, but when transfering from vista to xp I'm lucky if I see 1 mg. I mainly noticed it because I just set up a xp for file backup and its not running a firewall (not even windows firewall) and the data transfer is taking forever.
First: I'm thinking of getting a second HD and I want to leave the OS on the main HD and move / transfer all my programs like office, World of Warcraft, DVD programs etc. Is this possible or will it cause a conflict? Is there a good way to do this?
Secondly: I had to use the Vista Upgrade option on this disk to correctly fix some of my files which had been deleted by a poor vista update, namely system restore and windows update. Now I get rnadom IRQ errors and USB Port errors which crash the computer. I have updated to SP1 on Home Premium x 64 bit what could be cuasing this problem?
I have problem with uploading lots of small files to FTP over Vista. I tried few programs for FTP transfer and it doesn't resolve problem. If I uploaded big files (100 - 300 MB) FTP transfer working fine, but if I uploaded lots of small files (100 x 5 Kb etc.) connection was terminated after few files transfered (every 20 - 50 files). Error message is "server connection failed". If I try this on same computer with Win XP it is work fine.
