HP PhotoSmart 1000 PLUS TWO-SIDED PRINTING

Mar 23, 2008

I have managed to get my HP Photosmart 1000 printer to work with my new Vista-running PC thanks to help from online users. Using the built-in HP DeskJet 930c/932c/935c Driver did the trick. Unfortunately, this driver does not seem to have the the two-sided- printing option which was available with the Millennium driver for this printer.

Does anyone know of a driver which will let me use my HP Photosmart 1000 printer plus the Duplex (=double-sided printing) attachment with Vista? I really don't want to have to scrap a perfectly serviceable printer - despite HP's deplorable lack of support.

Cant Install HP LaserJet 1000 For Vista

Feb 6, 2009

If Vista no longer or hasn't been able to install your trusty Laser Jet 1000 printer driver, then you are not alone. The solution is to connect a slower 1.0 USB Hub in between the LaserJet 1000 and Vista. For my particular resolution a Belkin F5U021 USB Hub was the key to success. Once the hub was connected, Vista expeditiously recognized and automatically installed the HP Laser Jet 1000 driver, created for WinXP.....

Headset Not Functioning..

May 25, 2008

I have a headset (mic & earphone). I used it on my old system and it worked fine, but now that I've upgraded to Vista x64 it seems to not work. I'm wondering if maybe there is a setting or something that I have missed somewhere?

The problem: I can hear sound coming from it...so no problems there. The sound quality is great just like before..now then, the problem is that the mic seems to not work anymore. No one can hear me and I've tried testing by recording myself and it doesn't play back anything either. I also tried hooking it back up to my old PC and it worked fine...so its definitely a software problem of some sort..

Mic With X64 (SB Audigy2Z & Headset)

Dec 6, 2008

I see to be having a rather odd problem with my Vista, Headset Mic, and Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS card. Ive searched and searched for a solution to this problem on this board but nothing seems to working.here's my deal:I have the correct drivers installed for my Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS card.I am able to hear the Mic on my headset loud and clear on both headphones and speakers. This is the weird part. Everything says its connected and working, and yet, STEAM won't detect anything coming from my mic and neither will Sound Recorder in Vista. I can hear the mic perfectly when I un-mute it in playback, but for some really weird reason, none of the software I try to use it with can detect the sound when I speak into it when it can all be heard clearly I have the latest sound blaster drivers for my card and even installed the new beta one for this model and still no luck.

Headset Stop Working

Jul 8, 2009

I have a Razer Carcharias gaming headset. It has always worked properly and very well. Now today for some reason the mic on it has decided to stop working. I've checked my sound levels and my boost option, and they are all turned all the way up.
So my question to you is, what should I do next to get this working again? I run my own ventrilo server, so its kind of dumb to do that if I can't even talk on it

Not Recognizing Headset Plugging

Jun 2, 2008

I am posting from work, but should have enough information for you guys for a start. I just got a new computer on Friday, and have been having some problems with sound. I have gone to the Asus sight and downloaded the drivers again for the motherboard, and am using onboard sound. I don't recall the exact specifics, but its onboard Realtek. Sound works fine from my speakers, but I have not been able to get the computer to recognize just a standard headset that I was using with my other computer that same day, so I know the headset is working. My setup is Does anyone have any suggestions that would enable my computer to recognize when the headphones are plugged in so that I may use Ventrilo and listen to music?

Doesn't Recognize Headset

Feb 27, 2009

so I'm running a MSI 790x Plat and Windows Vista x64 everything is plugged in correctly according the the manual, and I have all of my drivers updated, but it still doesnt recognize the headset or head phones for that matter. This headset works on other computers so i know its not the headset. I've asked around and people have told me i might need to enable it in the BIOS, but I've looked around and i don't know how to find it there. So I guess what im asking is if anyone can help me find the setting within the BIOS where i can enable it, or do i have to do something else.

Headset Microphone Detected But Won't Work

Oct 26, 2008

I just got a new computer with Vista. I'm trying to get a headset that I used on my old computer to work. The headset is a free one that came with some language learning software so there's no driver. In the sound manager, Vista detects the microphone as being plugged in - as a "Microphone/Line In - SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC", but no program notices any sound coming from it. It is set as the default microphone and it's enabled. It works on my old computer still.

Headset In Front Jack Not Working

Mar 23, 2008

1) Headset plugged into front jacks is not working and it looks like my PC hasn't even sensed the headset bcos I expected it to it ask me about what I have plugged into the jack if it was not sure.

2) Rear speakers are working fine for playbacks. Rear jack microphone is working for recording but the issue is the audio being recorded cannot be heard from speakers. After I stop recording I can play and hear the recording but not while I am recording it.

Has someone faced this and has some solutions for me? Let me make it clear that same hardware works absolutely fine when the OS was XP. I had a fresh Vista install couple of days back on hardware with Intel motherboard, Intel core 2 duo 946GZ Express chipset. I have every possible (also all optional) latest update for the OS. I have installed latest drivers meant for Vista (audio and graphics accelerators) downloaded and installed yesterday from Intel site.

PC Too Slow For Gaming?

One game I tried recently was Callof Juarez. A friend brought it over to try and see if it would work after I told him I have trouble getting games to work. I can only find generic Aspire manuals online, nothing specific to my model.

I have tried to see what kind of video card is installed but in my device manager, under sound, audio controllers it only describes the audio cards, no mention of video card. I therefore assume it is a generic card that probably is not capable of gaming, BUT Acer did give me a nice screen saver that shows a clip on gaming, (b-astard-o's)...........

SP1 Gaming Performance

Mar 23, 2008

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues and/or problems since SP1 was released today.I know it may be too early to tell what with the manufacturers rushing to create drivers that will actually take advantage of the over 550 hotfixes incorperated into SP1, but so far for me at least I have seen at least a 20% increase in overall gaming performance and system response. One main thing I've seen that has not improved is any source games. It seems the source engine is either not a fan of vista, or the 8800 series cards. But as for games such as World of Warcraft and Unreal Tournament III, all seem to have an increase in FPS and load times. If anyone has a positive or negative comments for SP1, please let me know; very curious to see what Microsoft has accomplished/screwed up.

Gaming Technology On Vista

Mar 2, 2007

The progression of software and gaming technology:

As times goes on, technology inevitably advances. Back in the 1980s, words like megabyte were considered to represent a large amount of space on a hard drive or in total system ram. In the mid 1990s, we began to see megabytes in mass numbers when it came to RAM. At present, we are in the midst of the first decade in the 21st century: Hard drives are just now begining to be meassured in terabytes and ram is being meassured in multiple gigs.

With the increase in horsepower and ranchspace that fuels PCs as they advance, software becomes hungrier and hungrier of these resources. If you try to run Windows XP on a PC built for Windows 95, you will note that the entire system may come to a hault. Likewise, if you attempt to run Windows Vista and DirectX10 games on a machine built for Windows XP, you will encounter similar results!

This means that with each new installment of Windows that there is a new set of standards for system requirements to run the operating system. Windows Vista is more hungry than Windows XP when it comes to your system's resources. Everything you run will run slower on Vista due to the simple fact that Vista uses more of your system, so, do not post your frame rates and ask us, "why are they lower!?".

Windows XP was designed to run with a reccomended 512mb of ram and an optimal 2gb of ram for gaming. If you disagree with me, try running Battlefield 2142 in Titan Game Mode on a 64 person server with maximum detail if you think windows XP doesn't want 2gb of ram for optimal performance. When converting to windows vista it is important to note, Vista uses more of your base system, so, your system should be proportionately stronger in order to strong the performance dip!..................

Wireless Lag Spikes And Gaming

Basically im quite upset and angry at the fact i just bought a beautiful new machine, thinking ill be able to finally game propelly, to only find that.. I get these 2-5seconds where my gaming ( World of Warcraft ) freezes completely. Basically from what i've read its something to do with Vistas wireless that searches for a new and better connection every 60seconds. My computer is NOT connected to the router, it has a 3/5 signal strength and my ping is OK. Its just these lag spikes that are killing me. I've tried VISTA Anti-LAg and the WLAN optimizer. Nothing works at all. Anyone have ANY other suggestions as to what i can do to get rid of these 2-5second lag spike/freezes with my gaming? Im running VISTA Premium x64bit...
