This is my connection to the internet. I have a driver, but when I installed it, it got an error and my internet didnt work. Is there a Vista Driver for a D-Link Wireless G USB Adapter (DWL-G122).
I have a issue with my Linksys wireless USB adapter. I am trying to use it with Vista Home Premium. After installing software... I plug the adapter in (like directions say) and windows update goes to work. It updates the driver, installs correctly, I then connect to my home network and all is good. My prob is for some reason I lose internet and the USB adapter itself. One time I switched users and lost all. I have tried uninstalling adapter and tried reinstalling by pointing to my D drive (install CD) in hopes of using the driver that's on the installation CD. as soon as it saw everything.. windows update once again gave me the same buggy driver. I have tried to install with UAC disabled... no luck... the Linksys website/support for drivers has the same updated driver. I tried to use an older one but Windows keeps forcing this updated one down my throat.
i got vista installed in AHCI sata mode i got xp installed in IDLE sata mode when i tried to boot up vista, it tries to boot up xp instead and bsod occured i used vista eRecovery i typed bootrec.exe /fixboot and it didnt work it still tries to boot into xp, i typed bootrec /scanos , it only scanned my D:Windows XP OS only.......

I have a compaq presario desktop that I am trying to connect to a dlink wireless system. I have tried trendnet, linksys, and now Dlink usb wireless adapters but none will connect. They show up in the device manager as fine and dandy but will not enable. I am now trying the dlink WUA 1340 and downloaded the drivers from the dlink website.
I have also did a netsh wlan show settings and it says the autoconfig is disabled. Not sure if it should be enabled and have yet to find out how to enable it on this desktop. I have already tried the to do set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="?" as per technet instructions but just says wlansvc is not running. I am very frustrated and have had to drag the dlink router and dsl to telus to my computer so I can hook up by ethernet.
I have ran the gammut on this as I have even went through all the usb plugs and all are working and detect the wireless device. I have removed everything a few times and reinstalled without the dlink software etc. etc. etc.
When i click on an internet link (like the one in the email from this site when registering) alot of the time my vista premium 64 just makes a quick noise & won't open the link
I have been troubleshooting this problem for about a week with no success. I have a Westell DSL modem with a static IP from ATT running in bridged mode to a D-Link DGL-4100 Router running in PPoE mode into a Netgear JGS-524 24 port switch. Connected to the 24 port switch are 3 XBOX 360's and 5 PC's. Four PC's are running Vista 64 Ultimate and one is running Vista Home 32 bit. All PC's and XBOX 360 units have Static IP's.
Many times a day my network loses the internet connection at all 360 units and all PC's. When I diagnose the Vista Network connection it says cannot find the DNS server and mentions this is a problem Vista cannot repair. All settings are entered manually on all equipment including the DNS settings. If I go into the D-Link router settings and look at the status it shows a working internet connection.
To get the internet working again, I disconnect the internet connection through the router settings, wait a few seconds, then reconnect to the internet. Once it shows connected I go back and Diagnose the network connection in Vista again. This time it will not say cannot find DNS server, It will now say no problem found and give me the option to reset the network connection. Once I reset the network connection, I will get my internet back.......
Many programs have links embedded to allow an internet address to be opened e.g. a clickable button to open Internet Explorer (or other browser) and go to the program writer's site, or a button to look for updates. I've only just realised after a couple of months with Vista, that these don't work any more
I have a VERY old Thinkpad (IBM) 500MHz/256MB - Ok ok enough laughing All of the drivers are installed for the GFX card, it is a "Silicon Motion LynxEM+" GFX adapter. Where you change the resolution, it will allow me to go to 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024 & 1600 x 600 - 800 x 600 works fine, but anything above that, & I have to scroll around to see the start menu etc. Is there anyway of going to a higher resolution and compacting this into the screen without scrolling?
Just bought a new dell with vista installed 2 wks ago. Auto update tells me to download vista sp 1. It tells me size of download is 65 - 435 mb. I only have dial up at home. I have t-1 line at work. How can I download (where is link) at work to install at home? We do not use vista at work, when I go to windows update at work, it doesn't understand vista request. I can put it on a cd or flash card.
I don't want windows live mail as my default email account. I wen to Set Default Programs. I'm unable to uncheck marks on MAIL-TO PROTOCOL and EMAIL-LINK START MENU LINK. how can I fix that through REGEDIT.
Link to 'Music' does not link on Start Menu. Its Property window does not display tabs; nor does it link to the User/Music folder. How can one repair this link?
I got a Nvidia 8400GS When i got the PC but brought a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 / 1GB / PCI Express 2.0 / Graphics Card. My brother took out the Nvid card and then formated the PC to make sure that all drivers where uninstalled then put the ATI card in. In divice manager under dispaly adapters there is standard VGA Graphics Adapter and further down the page there is "Other Divices" with Video controller. When it installs these some times the standard VGA Graphics Adapter fail but the video controller succeed but with error. saying. "Incompatable display Adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter". lso i carnt change the resolution above 1024X768. Also my Graphic card is a Sapphier brand but in the windows update its looking for ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - ASUS EAH3870X2 Series
I downloaded the SP2 using the Updates and yet when I try to install it I get to "3 of 3" and gets to 100% but then stops there for a couple minutes and then gives me a message of:

I recently created a second administrative account. For sercurity reasons i hid it from the login screen. When i was making it I accidently changed my first administrative account to standard and didnt change it back before i logged off. Now I cant login in to an administrative account or change the dword value back to 1 so i can login because i dont have adminstrative permission. When i try to do this or change the account back to adminstrator it says "To continue type an administrators password and press ok. BUT their is nowhere to type and the ok is shaded so i cant press it! WHAT do i do! Is their another way i can login?
the computer connects to the Internet through a router that is connected to a cable modem through "ISP A". Now after the system is ready to go, the user takes it home, and they hook it up directly to their DSL modem through "ISP B", and the Internet won't work once the computer is home. What normally would be the settings I need to check provided all connections are good?
To give a link (like "http://...") as a command line does not work anymore. Actually it was a standard since Win 98 and now Windows Vista displays the message "Application not found." My question: How to open link in Windows Vista using a command line? Should one use a new command like prefix like "mailto:"? These feature from Windows was really very practice for the developers. I link could be opened without being necessary to search for the default browser, an so on. Does anybody know how it can be done now?
How do I customise the Firefox 3 Browser to open each time as per Screenshot 3? At Screenshot 1: When I was using Internet Explorer 7 as my main Browser, I was able to customise the opening page so that it was 'clean' of all the 'flotsam and jetsam' rubbish that I had no interest in. My Customised Page in IE7 looked like this; screenshot 1:
At Screenshot 2: Now when I open Firefox 3, this is what I get........a page of 'stuff' that I neither need. nor want; Screenshot 2: At Screenshot 3:I have managed to customise and clean up the FF3 page as at Screen-shot 3 below, and it remains like this each time I open the Browser while I stay in session, however, if I log off or close and shut-down, it reverts to display like Screenshot 2, the next time I open up the FF3 Browser.
Screenshot 3: To keep my FF3 Browser opening page 'clean' as in the above Screenshot, what settings should I apply, to make it appear this way each time I open the Browser.
I have two machines running Vista Home Premium x64. but use 32bit IE. I am having trouble with one machine when opening IE that it always comes up in full screen mode and you cannot see the tool bar on the bottom. How can I change the setting so that when it comes up it is not full screen. I always have to either go into tools and uncheck it or launch another screen to get the tool bar on the bottom to come up.
I wonder if anyone could advise whether the following updates would affect my internet connection:? Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [June 2008] (KB905866)Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.35.347.0)Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - June 2008 (KB890830) Security Update for Windows Vista (KB951376) Security Update for Windows Vista (KB950762) Update for Windows Vista (KB947562) Security Update for Windows Vista (KB951698) Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista (KB950126)
I downloaded these yesterday and I have had problems with my wired modem and Netgear router today. I keep losing the internet connection. I've spoken to my ISP and Netgear. Netgear says that the modem keeps dropping the connection but my ISP says there are no problems at their end. It just seems odd that everything was working fine before I allowed these updates.
It start some time between installing windows vista sp1 and windows vista sp2. I am using windows vista home premium Sp2 x32 with avg 8.5 and widnows firewall. Becuase internet sync won't work i cant update avg or my computer.
I can't track down the exact thing that changed, but many of my internet plug-ins (QuickTime, Silverlight, Air) won't work properly. I will install the plug-in, then when I go to a site that requires it, it says it's not installed, despite clearly being the Program registry.
When I use QuickTime, I can go to various sites that have QT movies and they load fine, but if I go to Apple.com, it says I need to grab the newest QuickTime. Silverlight apps won't load at all. Any time I go to Adobe's marketplace for AIR apps, despite having one running, it says that I need to install Air. This is in both IE7 and Firefox.
Do "tweak" programs which are supposed to help with Internet connection speeds and overall throughput really help? I'm currently using a cable modem setup in a home office situation. There are a lot of times where the throughput slows considerably and I've often wondered if one of these tweak programs would be helpful.I decided to experiment a little with Tweak VI, but honestly couldn't tell whether or not it was helping. (If so, not much, in my humble opinion.)I'm wondering if other Vista users out there have been able to find various third-party tweak programs helpful?
I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic, and randomly my internet browsers just totally stop trying to connect and just spit out error messages, but everything else still works (usually). MSN, Steam, my antivirus updates on time, everything that isn't HTTP pretty much. The internet browsers will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours before keeling over. I've done a pretty thorough Google search on this and I'm at least not alone, but in another sense I am...
A lot of people have said "oh I disabled/uninstalled ZoneAlarm or Bitdefender or so and so a program and it worked" but I don't run those. Never have had ZA or anything on my computer. The only program I have in common with the most common ones is Spybot S&D, and I disabled that on startup and sure enough, didn't work. I do not have any Vista service packs, I don't think. Nothing explicitly called that anyway. I have a bunch of updates that I installed when I got the computer, so I can't uninstall SP1 to fix it since I don't think I even have it.
I have windows vvista home premium. whenever I try to print preview, i get the error message D/Temp/Low/Ft4xevu htm make sure the path or internet address is ccorrect
Every morning I wake up, I have to re-start my computer in order to get Firefox or Internet explorer to work. Have tried all below with both wired and wireless connection. All other functions, icons and various do-dads work, just connecting. If I happen to pass out and forget to logout of either Mozilla or IE, the screen I was on stays up but when I hit re-fresh(IE) or reload (mozilla) the problem pops up.
1. Wake up and touch mouse, desktop comes up, no problem
2. Check network connection, all seems good. Network icon shows full connection, you see the globe symbol, all good.
3. Try to access either Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox.
4. I.E. says it cannot connect and Mozilla says, well it says nothing at all except for "done" in bottom left corner of screen, but leaves a blank screen.
5. Have checked my power settings, and have made sure that both plugged in and on battery that the computer is not set to sleep. Never sleep............
