View 7 Replies View RelatedUnder Windows XP I could associate different programs to do different actions on each file type, e.g. open, print, edit etc. These actions would appear on the context (right click) menu for files of that type. Now I want to change HTML files to edit with my own editor rather than with Word as they do now. All I can find however are settings to change the default program to open files with. Any one know how I can change the edit

My default font was changed about 2 weeks ago (long story as to how and why) to something that looks like GEORGIA or LUCIDA or something similar, and was forgotten to be changed back. So every webpage I open, every menu option, is all in this new font which I dislike.

Once Maxthon was installed and set as the default browser all of the shortcuts to web pages that i have (i.e. favorites folder) and a few on my desktop all use the maxthon icon. I am able to manually change them back to the "e" icon by right clicking and changing icon. What i want to do is set it so that every NEW shortcut i create, as well as the old ones automatically use the "e" icon instead of the Maxthon one.

I have two versions of Eudora on my PC but only one (Eudora 8 beta) is recognized in file folders that contain *.jpg files (as of today).
Before today, I would highlight a JPG and click on Email at the top of the open folder. Eudora 7.1 would come up and all I had to do was put in an email address. I should say that I use Eudora 7.1 with two sets of data - one for me and one for my wife.
However, my wife's version would come up which is what I want. As of today, Eudora 8 beta comes up when I click on Email. I have no idea how the association changed.
I also don't know why my wife's version of Eudora 7.1 used to come up instead of mine.
There must be a way to reset the association. I tried resetting the association in Internet Explorer - but only Eudora 8 beta is available as a choice. That's another problem. Why isn't Eudora 7.1 a choice in file associations in Internet Explorer 8?
I have IE8, Windows Vista and Windows Mail, which shows as my default mail and only email address.
I would like to have my Hotmail address as my default mail, but Windows Mail will not allow me to add Hotmail. Wizard error says it does not support HTTP and I cannot see anywhere under Hotmail options/more options where it allows me to change any type of connections to POP3.
I read it can be done in G-Mail, but unfortunately I have Hotmail.
Is downloading "Windows Live" and uninstalling my "Windows Mail" a solution?
I have all my mail forwarded to Hotmail, so I wouldn't lose saved messages.
Is there a way to change the default location for saved attachments? I would prefer to save them to the Desktop, rather than to the Documents folder.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is the Context Menu that I'm referring to, accessed by Start>Pictures>[Open a Folder to display thumbnails], Right-click on Thumbnail. With my current settings [where?], if I select and click on Edit, MS Windows Paint opens as the Default Editing Program. I don't like Paint at all, and want to change from that current Default Program, to allow my Pictures to be opened and edited by Picasa. Is there a method by which I can change that Context Menu, so that by clicking on Edit, the selected thumbnail automatically opens in Picasa And before anyone leaps in and suggests any other editing program from the plethora of others available [eg. Photoshop etc.], please don't waste your time - I'm not interested in them, as Picasa fulfills all of my basic photo editing requirements. Basically, I'm looking for a shortcut to open Picasa with just one click, as I'm aware that I can also get there through Open with, in the same Context Menu.

Can I simply switch the drive cables? The jumpers no longer do Master/Slave, so I'm not sure on this. (BTW, when I boot up in Vista, and use a boot up controller program like Easy BCD, it does not show XP as a boot option).

View 7 Replies View RelatedTo prepare for a dual boot installation (Vista / Ubuntu) I had to allocate space on my C-drive using Vista's 'Disk Management' and 'Shrink Volume' features. Unfortunately, in the process of making the allocation, I mistakenly allocated 40 MB instead of 40 GB. Went back into 'Shrink Volume' to correct the allocation but it apparently cannot increase space. Also tried 'Extend Volume', no luck there either (or maybe I just don't understand how it works). For what it's worth, here's my current C-drive allocations.
144.81 GB NTFS
40.00 MB Unallocated (reserved for Ubuntu) (this is what should have been 40GB)
75.29 GB Primary Partition
3.24 GB Primary Partition
9.49 GB NTFS
I should also mention that I already have Ubuntu installed, so this is actually a re-installation to solve a connection problem I'm having with Ubuntu.
When I right click a drive on my Vista..it shows explore as the default option and is highlighted than the open....I check for trojans and viru but none were found.
