I have never been able to successfully use Windows Mail away from my own home. I can receive messages but cannot send them. How do I set up an account when traveling that lets me get the full function of Windows Mail?
View 6 RepliesWhen I type a message using the Reply function and click Send, the email is greyed out, then disappears. It doesn't surface in any of the local folders.Using Create Mail works as normal.

Previously, I would type the first letter of an email address and I would get all of the contacts to whom I've sent email as options for the address. Now, I seem to only get a list of people I've emailed within the last day or two. This is annoying (for example, when I cc myself, I seem to have to type in the address every time).
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe error message I'm getting started after doing some updates. (Should have known better) I'm getting two the first one reads:
Windows mail could not be started. Initializing junk filtering, your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0X80070002)
When you click on the ok button then i get a second window which reads:
Windows mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized.
How do i fix this? I have tried some update however nothing seems to work.
How to disable the email function of Vista Mail (you could do this in Outlook Express). I want Windows Mail for newsgroups only. In OE, the thing I'm asking about effectively it got rid of the mail folders (inbox, sent items etc). I use Outlook 2007 for my default email. I have deleted all email accounts in Windows Mail, but would like to know if there is a similar function as with OE.
View 9 Replies View Related1. When opening a message from the message list, the new window opens in "non full screen" mode. I have to then click on the maximize button. How do I default to full screen for new windows in general?
2. When I open a message and then hit the delete button, it takes me automatically to the next message, I want it to go back to the message list. I know in outlook where you can set these settings but can't find it with Windows mail.
Occasionally when I use the Sleep function I am unable to open the screen again by hitting a key. I've had to manually shut down and reboot. I then get a message that the Windows was improperly shut down. Has anyone else experienced this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some Dell laptops (d830, d620, d630) that has problems with the wireless networkcard (Intel Wireless 4965 AGN). Very often it stops to function after the computer has been to sleep. The wireless icon still apears in the bottom right corner with a red cross over it. When you click it it says that it's connected with limited access. The wireless card will not apear when you run ipconfig If you disconnect it will not connect successfully again It seems like it manages to find all availble networks, but you can not connect successfully to any of them.
I have tried to install this fix reagardless that I already have SP1, but this won't install. Probley because it has already been applied. Also tried the Regedit workaround mentioned in the KB. I have set the power option to high preformance, but it still happends when the computer is manual set to sleep.
I only have 80 small size messages in my windows mailbox but cannot get any mail through because of a message that says my mailbox is full. Anybody know why and short of deleting everything how to expand the memory

i have had this for a while, and i have no idea what it is, just a little white square in top left corner of screen. doesnt appear in full screen apps or windows, only on desktop (even if i change pic) when i have no programs running the only thing in task manager - applications is ASUS ACPI Cneter could it be that? what is that? doesnt affect comp in any way just annoying seeing it there

I am actually looking for a reliable full backup solution so that I can perform the upgrade with some confidence that I won't lose everything. Vista Home Premium (also Home Basic) does not include Complete PC Backup. (It was a surprise to me too!) I need a full/complete backup solution. Otherwise, the restore task is piecemeal... and very cumbersome to do and contemplate.
Should I purchase backup software? Disk imaging software? Recommendations? I purchased a sizeable disk drive and can connect it with usb. Does the Windows 7 upgrade have any options to perform the needed backup? Not likely I imagine.
Does Windows 7 Home Premium have the same defect of no Complete PC Backup or equivalent Yeah, I think it's a bad defect! This must be the first OS without a full backup solution! Or am I missing something?
Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.

View 6 Replies View RelatedYes, it locks up. Not sure why I have Vista Home, 32bit. I'm not extremely computer literate, but if you tell me where to find the info I can do that - no problem. I try not to have too many windows open, maybe 3 internet and maybe my email, Word, Excell, and a DB manager.
I can be operating just fine and the computer will lock up and it is not consistent with any particular function, but it is consistent in that it happens all day long every day. My resolution is the Task Manager, but even that can take a minute. I'll be glad to provide more info, I just need to know the questions.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe all should give up using computers for a short while and start doing simple things in life, like read some books or some thing.Look what Vista has done to some people and in particular to Frank(The King of all Vista fanboys), he was unable to read my name, his spelling is worse than spell checker( I don't know whether he has one). And look at some of the solutions given by some MVPs,it goes like this:
1.It is not Vista's fault, get help from your hardware manufacturer.
2.This is only a Vista forum go to manufacturer's help desk.
3.You paid for your PC why not spend another X amount and buy new Router.
4.Vista won't function with old hardware.
5.You do not need to know what Vista does, it takes care of your needs and you simply press the buttons and Vista will do everything for you.
I can go on but I do not wish to bore you to death. I very rarely get any constructive help from these MVPs, only one chap from another forum gives proper answers and some brilliant Tutorials. But you all can give it a go with a fantastic system called Ubuntu.
Too bad MS never gives us an email program with a good search function.(the Find feature)

View 8 Replies View Relatedi am currently using dell inspiron 1440 laptop with windows vista ultimate 64 bit...my problem is, that every time i have to use any function key (like f1 or f2 etc) i have to press "Fn" key as well to get the desired result...for example...for refreshing any page instead of pressing only "f5"....i have to press "fn+f5".the same goes with all function keys....and while playing some games it becomes very annoying to press fn key each time i have to press any function key....is there any way to reverse the function of fn key...because by simply pressing f5 my brightness increases. so all i want is that i should be able to use "only f5" for refreshing the page and "fn+f5" to increase the brightness ....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI save a lot of zip files to my documents ( ww1 research ) When I used to click on one of these links On XP I used to get a ' save as ' box, and it was simple. Now I get this When I double click on this I get Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Where is the good old XP save as function, on Vista? It shouldn't be this difficult. It's incredibly frustrating, to have £500 worth of computer, and have to resort to my old xp Fujitsu ( on it's last legs ) to download my files.

When I have one open and want to browse through it moving from file to file using the left arrow, I have to press the down arrow at each row end instead of the left arrow just moving to the next line. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been having a great deal of problems getting my Vist desktop to connect to the Internet. It was working fine until I had to remove my wireless router. Anyway, I spent a over 2 hours on the pnone with both my ISP and HP helpdesks but they could not resolve the issue. My XP laptop connects fine to the Internet so I know the signal from the modem is fine...it is an issue with Vista.
Anyway, the problem is that is Vista will not run the ipconfig /renew command in the CMD function. I was able to use ipconfig /release OK but not the renew. I am in the CMD funtion as an administrator so that is not the issue. I even did a system recovery to a few days ago and reinstalled the network adapter but that hasn't helped. I have searched online for an answer to this problem with little success. Is there some way to force Vista to renew ther ip address?
