i recently posted about my Control center and windows 7. The problems still there but i found something out. as i did a fresh install of windows 7 my video driver was wiped. I installed CCC thinking that the driver came with it like ATI said but that did not work. I am back to the standard vga adapter. then my Control Center started working... but i cant use it cuz i did not have the driver installed. WTF man??? So i got another ATI driver from the website and then installed it. but it went back to the error code B3X64.
Like many other users I see on this forum, which I think is great by the way, I am new to the game of Vista and find that i have much to learn. I have a question regarding Graohics cards for someone to answer. I am running an ATI (POwerColor) 4850 and the local company that built the computer for me claims that the ATI Catalyst Control Centre will not run properly with Vista x64 systems. The card itself is running fine, but I began qustioning them on this when I found no control centre installed. The CCC apparently causes the card to crash quite often, so they suggested I only install the driver and not the CCC the next time I update. Makes me a little nervous to install the 8.12 driver now!!
After installing the new 8.12 ATI drivers i cant start Catalyst Control Centre. I can see it running in task manager but it just wont show on the screen. This has happened with previous drivers and i had to re-install CCC few times for it to work.
My system is "Windows Vist Home Premium AMD turion 64 X2, 960 MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150"... My computer health check always says I need to download the current thing of NVIDIA, which it gives me the link for and says it is an essential download, but then it will not download it, and it will not go away and remains a "critical" pc update needed... which drives me crazy.
My HP Update also scans my computer and recognizes that I need NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Grapics Driver, but then it will go through downloading the installation package, and then when the setup initiates it says that I do not have the operating system windows vista.
1 Do i have this NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics Driver as my welcome center in my control panel states, or don't I?
2 if I don't have it, how do I get it
3 if I do have it, how do I make it stop coming up in my PC Health Check as a critical thing, and stop coming up on my HP Update???
I want to uninstall ati catalyst 9.2 so i can try ati catalyst 9.7 with sims 2 and see if it has compatibility issues like 9.3-9.6 had for me.ATI catalyst 9.2 was all i could get to work with sims 2 and i want to try 9.7 to see what happens.
When i selected the ati catalyst icon in control panel to uninstall an error message appeared about ati catalyst installation manager stopped working.I did get the screen for removing the ati software and pressed next, but nothing happened except the ati catalyst icon in the programs section of control panel disappeared without actually uninstalling the driver/catalyst software.
Also,i retried uninstalling by pressing setup.exe in c:/ati/support/9-2_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_75977/setup.exe
all that happens is that catalyst install manager stopped working error messages pop up and also i get problems and solutions icon appear after each uninstall failure regarding "solve a problem with microsoft visual studio".It's about this....
FIX: An application that uses the Mfc80.dll module or the Mfc80u.dll module crashes after you install a product that updates the module version
I've no idea if there is any relation, but before getting the hotfix i want to know what alternatives i have in uninstalling ati catalyst 9.2.
I would like to rotate (Pivot) my extended ViewSonic display. 1: VX2260WM - Primary 2: VP201b - Extended
I am running Vista 32-bit with the a XFX Radeon HD4850 graphics card with dual DVI. Seems that for some reason the ATI Catalyst software will not install. Tried to download the newest version with the same problems.
I cannot play some games. The only thing what was changed is my new LCD 24'' monitor. But I think, this is not a problem, because I tried to connect my old 19'' CRT monitor and these games are not playable. I tried reinstall catalyst, but nothing has changed
I cannot install any ATI driver on my Vista! after the installation exe begins, it goes into a detecting phase. Then it says "Fail to find any installable component"; and, the error msg is "Cannot detect any compatible ATI hardware" Workaround: Install the driver thru Vista's Device Manager. However, Catalyst control center doesn't install in this way.
Ive just installed a HD4850 but i can not get the ati catalyst centre to install to change the settings on the card, i have tried a number of times with no luck
Radeon X1300 with latest Catalyst Drivers is Only Pulling in a 2.8??? Is that all the better Im Going to get with this card??? 256 MB DDR2 Dedicated graphics memory
I have vista home premium 64 with media center. don't have any desire to hook up the computer to a tV or surround sound system, so is there really any reason to open up and install media center service? I burn cds, do some computer studio recording, sometimes plug a phonograph (remember those?) or a cassette into the computer to record. is there anything in media center that makes those experiences better? when i record off of vinyl i have to set the recording level down to practically zero to record or otherwise the signal is too hot using my usb turntable. it's really almost zero plus a tick or nothing at all. will media center do anything for this?
As soon as you install Windows Vista you are bombarded by the Welcome Center that is designed to help beginner Windows users easily configure their new computer. This new welcome screen is a nice feature the first time you start using Windows vista but quickly becomes annoying.Â
Disabling the Welcome Center is very easy to do and can speed up your boot as well.Â
WMC plays recorded tv OK, but the screen icons and controls won't dissappear during playback. Even though the mouse is not moving, the little circle next to the cursor pop's up every 5 seconds, keeping the controls from fading. It's only during video playback, not music.
Vista Home Premium 32, SP1, with an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics card and an ATI TV Wonder tuner.
I have Vista Ultimate installed on a laptop. The onboard audio uses Sountek as the driver but Vista keeps installing Realtek AC'97 as the driver for it. The realtek driver puts my audio into a situation where I get the red 'X' bu the speaker in the taskbak, along with something about 'No audio device is installed'. When I einstall the Soundtek drivers, the audio comes back and works fine. Windows update has installed the Realtek drivers about 5-6 times in the last week and it is time consuming to keep reverting it back to a functional state. Is there a fix to keep this from happening in the future?
Just installed Vista RC1 yesterday on my Packard Bell R0900 Notebook. Everything went well with the install, until it came to the performance test... I let it run for 1,5 hours and nothing seemed to happen (screen went black in the beginning, but that was all). So I decided to not let him do the test (after a hard reboot). And all looked fine, except for:
- Opening windows give a big lag (like control panel). It takes about 5 sec to load one window! - Same for the start menu... - On fading when for example vista asks whether you will allow something to run, makes it lag alot too... (Same when shutting down or logging of (the fade takes like 20 secs). - When typing something, it takes like 3 secs to show the first letters...
I have been using vista for about a year and three days ago it removes my admin account and swaps My account to just a regular user. Which now I have no control over my vista os. Any time I try to log in as amin, or add software or remove software its says ACCESS DENIED. No matter what I do I get a box that asks for the admins password(never has been one) But there is no where to even put a pw in.Its greyed out and the “ok” button is greyed out also. So to me it’s a catch22. I have even sent this same note to Microsoft and to other tech folks and they all seem stumped.
I want to install spam and virus filters in the internet based systems in my office. My work involves a lot of downloading from the net, and therefore always run the risk of viruses affecting the operating systems. I want an economical security service provider with state-of-the-art security techniques.
When I bring up a news group, it runs out of control with the sidebar running all the way to the bottom. And I can't bring it back to the top. The only way I can do this is to unplug my USB plug which controls the mouse. Once I do that I can pull the sidebar back up to the top just perfectly, by using the mouse pad on the laptop. If I plug the usb plug back in (for the mouse) the sidebar crashes to the bottom of the screen. I am using a M1710 Dell Laptop. It works great but this problem of the sidebar running out of control while the usb mouse is in use, is a new one. At the same time the screen saver won't work either.
Basically I do not want to completely turn off the UAC because i like what it does. I think it is a great addition to vista and win 7. I have eVGA Precision (GPU overclocking and monitoring software) set not to run at startup. but to start and up the default videocard fan speed. then it closes, its a setting in the program. So i have it set to turn up the fan speed at startup. but the program doesn't continue to run. BUTTTT everytime i start the PC the annoying UAC pops up instantly wanting me to "allow" evga precision to run. So can I setit to ALWAYS allow it.. without disabling the UAC
My friend recently installed some software, which was conflicting with Vista's UAC. Then a couple of days ago, I had a security alert prompting me to check my settings. Everything seemed fine except UAC was turned off. I turned it back on and restarted, it didn't appear. Then the next day it appeared. I can activate it - so it says it is on, but then once my computer is restarted it turns off.
The following is a consistent warning that when this event happens it causes a hang in the os. Was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a driver that can take the place of the nvidia nforce sata control driver as the issue is caused by this driver....
thats wat my problem is but I'm able to go online just its acting weird and also the network status thing has a red x instead of being filled in with blue
I was using Media Center to watch video that was recorded through media center. Everything was fine for a few months then a couple of months ago the sound went away in media center for those videos. The media center still plays music and DVD's fine it just does not play viedo recorded off of the capture card in my computer anymore.
I am able to play those same video's through window's media player however.
