View 9 Repliesi recently posted about my Control center and windows 7. The problems still there but i found something out. as i did a fresh install of windows 7 my video driver was wiped. I installed CCC thinking that the driver came with it like ATI said but that did not work. I am back to the standard vga adapter. then my Control Center started working... but i cant use it cuz i did not have the driver installed. WTF man??? So i got another ATI driver from the website and then installed it. but it went back to the error code B3X64.

My computer health check always says I need to download the current thing of NVIDIA, which it gives me the link for and says it is an essential download, but then it will not download it, and it will not go away and remains a "critical" pc update needed... which drives me crazy.
My HP Update also scans my computer and recognizes that I need NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Grapics Driver, but then it will go through downloading the installation package, and then when the setup initiates it says that I do not have the operating system windows vista.
1 Do i have this NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics Driver as my welcome center in my control panel states, or don't I?
2 if I don't have it, how do I get it
3 if I do have it, how do I make it stop coming up in my PC Health Check as a critical thing, and stop coming up on my HP Update???
What is the specific fault information for this crash according to the Problem Reports and Solutions Center control panel?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was thinking about creating a user that only has access to the Media Center. First thing i did it, configure the media center to boot with windows!
Now I need to:
1- know how configure him to open in the "Only Media Mode".
2- do something to block everything, but some games and 3 sites! gmail, yahoo and hattrick.com
To make it clear, i want to configure a user that may only use the media center, some games and access does 3 sites and nothing else!
If you are running Windows Vista on a laptop then check out the new Windows Mobility Center by holding the Windows Logo Key and pressing X.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have vista home premium 64 with media center. don't have any desire to hook up the computer to a tV or surround sound system, so is there really any reason to open up and install media center service? I burn cds, do some computer studio recording, sometimes plug a phonograph (remember those?) or a cassette into the computer to record. is there anything in media center that makes those experiences better? when i record off of vinyl i have to set the recording level down to practically zero to record or otherwise the signal is too hot using my usb turntable. it's really almost zero plus a tick or nothing at all. will media center do anything for this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs soon as you install Windows Vista you are bombarded by the Welcome Center that is designed to help beginner Windows users easily configure their new computer. This new welcome screen is a nice feature the first time you start using Windows vista but quickly becomes annoying.Â
Disabling the Welcome Center is very easy to do and can speed up your boot as well.Â
1. Start Regedit....
WMC plays recorded tv OK, but the screen icons and controls won't dissappear during playback. Even though the mouse is not moving, the little circle next to the cursor pop's up every 5 seconds, keeping the controls from fading. It's only during video playback, not music.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Ultimate installed on a laptop. The onboard audio uses Sountek as the driver but Vista keeps installing Realtek AC'97 as the driver for it. The realtek driver puts my audio into a situation where I get the red 'X' bu the speaker in the taskbak, along with something about 'No audio device is installed'. When I einstall the Soundtek drivers, the audio comes back and works fine. Windows update has installed the Realtek drivers about 5-6 times in the last week and it is time consuming to keep reverting it back to a functional state. Is there a fix to keep this from happening in the future?
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust installed Vista RC1 yesterday on my Packard Bell R0900 Notebook. Everything went well with the install, until it came to the performance test... I let it run for 1,5 hours and nothing seemed to happen (screen went black in the beginning, but that was all). So I decided to not let him do the test (after a hard reboot). And all looked fine, except for:
- Opening windows give a big lag (like control panel). It takes about 5 sec to load one window!
- Same for the start menu...
- On fading when for example vista asks whether you will allow something to run, makes it lag alot too... (Same when shutting down or logging of (the fade takes like 20 secs).
- When typing something, it takes like 3 secs to show the first letters...
I have been using vista for about a year and three days ago it removes my admin account and swaps My account to just a regular user. Which now I have no control over my vista os. Any time I try to log in as amin, or add software or remove software its says ACCESS DENIED. No matter what I do I get a box that asks for the admins password(never has been one) But there is no where to even put a pw in.Its greyed out and the “ok” button is greyed out also. So to me it’s a catch22. I have even sent this same note to Microsoft and to other tech folks and they all seem stumped.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I bring up a news group, it runs out of control with the sidebar running all the way to the bottom. And I can't bring it back to the top. The only way I can do this is to unplug my USB plug which controls the mouse. Once I do that I can pull the sidebar back up to the top just perfectly, by using the mouse pad on the laptop. If I plug the usb plug back in (for the mouse) the sidebar crashes to the bottom of the screen. I am using a M1710 Dell Laptop. It works great but this problem of the sidebar running out of control while the usb mouse is in use, is a new one. At the same time the screen saver won't work either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically I do not want to completely turn off the UAC because i like what it does. I think it is a great addition to vista and win 7. I have eVGA Precision (GPU overclocking and monitoring software) set not to run at startup. but to start and up the default videocard fan speed. then it closes, its a setting in the program. So i have it set to turn up the fan speed at startup. but the program doesn't continue to run. BUTTTT everytime i start the PC the annoying UAC pops up instantly wanting me to "allow" evga precision to run. So can I setit to ALWAYS allow it.. without disabling the UAC
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy friend recently installed some software, which was conflicting with Vista's UAC. Then a couple of days ago, I had a security alert prompting me to check my settings. I can activate it - so it says it is on, but then once my computer is restarted it turns off.

Everything was fine for a few months then a couple of months ago the sound went away in media center for those videos. The media center still plays music and DVD's fine it just does not play viedo recorded off of the capture card in my computer anymore.
I am able to play those same video's through window's media player however.
Is anyone familiar with this?
My hard drive crashed and I had to install a new one, reinstalled Windows Vista, but Media Centre is nowhere to be found.
Searched for %SystemRoot%ehomeehshell.exe as barman58 suggested.
However, the following error message pops up "Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. Contact your system administrator."
Media center is freezing up when I try to scroll search through the movies or music videos. It says it needs to update something at the beginning, but when I click the OK button the little circle just sits and spins and never does anything.

I then had the owner run the sfc /scannow and got the same windows resource protection error....

View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't have Vista installed yet, but I want to set it up with an internal dual-tuner card, probably this one and use it as an ATSC DVR for OTA shows.

1) Can a Vista Ultimate computer running Media Center as a DVR be set to automatically wake up from S3 and start recording, then go back to sleep when it is done? I don't want to leave it running all day when on vacation just to record shows.
2) My Dell Dimension 4700 is a P4 3.0GHz, 3GB RAM, one 250GB SATA II 3.0Gbpsdrive for Vista to be installed and one 500GB SATA II 3.0Gbps for the recordings, with an eVGA NVidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB video card with dual LCD displays attached.. I believe that to be a reasonable system. Do you?
3) My network is all Gigabit...or at least it was until I had to pull the PCIe Gigabit NIC from the Dell to make room for the Hauppauge card. There is only one PCIe slot available, so that leaves me with the onboard 10/100 unless I get a PCI Gigabit NIC. My OS is Vista Home Premium and I have been trying to set up my x box 360 as an extender using a wired connection. I have the code from the TV. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy OS is V-home premium 64bit. I've owned this Dell for about 3 weeks and have never been able to open Media Center. When clicked, I get this error message:
C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727mscorwks.dll could not be loaded. I had a Dell Tech log into my computer to find "patches," etc. To no avail. His only advice was to restore back to new.
By the way, opening ehshell.exe gives me the exact same message. I thought I had found the correct patch re: framework applications in the Win Knowledge Base. After a complex set of downloads I finally ended up with the same error message. Is there something I can do short of full restore?
I'm still totally at a loss as to how to fix my media Center. It seems that whenever I watch a video in media center in full screen mode it works fine until the play/pause taskbar at the bottom of the screen auto minimizes then it gets extremely choppy and looks like its having some sort of seizure. Yet if I move the mouse on screen again to bring up the taskbar again it runs smoothly once more.
Alternatively when the screen is not maximised if I dont move the mouse at all it runs smoothly but the second I bring the mouse onto the mediacentre screen the same thing happens and the video goes all black until the taskbar auto hides. This problem occurs while watching a movie or live tv in media center, yet if i watch the exact same video footage in media player the problem does not occur. I've updated all drivers (taking extra care to make sure I have the newest graphics card drviers) and installed a shark codec set in the hopes that might offer some assistance.
