I am having an issue with this device, here is what is happening. When i have this 'enabled' it takes my machine about 6-8 minutes to boot up, so I found that if I 'disable' the device everything runs as normal and the laptop boots up in seconds but then I cannot use the Micro SD slot as it is disabled.

When I plug the key into my laptop, Vista 64 slows down noticeably. The light on the key keeps flashing and no matter what window I'm in, the spinning busy disc by the mouse pointer keeps going like the Ever Ready bunny. Task Manager shows the CPU hustling towards 100%.
At first I thought it was the indexing, but after disabling windows search and rebooting, he problem is still there?
When I am downloading my CPU is at 100% and as a result my computer slows down. I have AVG installed and have scanned my computer and have found no viruses or spyware. I have checked the task manager and there is a process called System - NT Kernal & System and it runs at 70% when downloading - surely this isnt normal.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust finished my new build, and the computer has had a 'bottleneck' or 'hiccup' every -10 seconds since i booted it, the windows splash screen has a 'hiccup' at the windows light logo. Everything(word processing, web surfing, gaming, watching a video) is affected by this and I am wondering how to solve this problem. I have tried to update all of the drivers, I flashed the BIOS. I am going to try to troubleshoot this for another week or so and then try to reinstall windows. My windows experience index is 5.9 across the board.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony desktop water cooled running a Pentium D 2.8 / Vista 32 Micro ATX and wanted to get the groups ideas on replacing the board / chip / memory with something that will beat the current Vista score of 4.7 for the CPU. Rest of components run at 5.9. No gaming at all I just want to be able to use my CAD and rendering programs much faster which are now using 100% CPU. Current PS is 385 watts. Planning to go to 64 bit with next CAD update.

By default my microphone plays through my speakers. If I mute the microphone in my playback devices, it disables the whole microphone until I restart. I had this exact same problem when I tried Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Why is this happening. How can I fix it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Creative Zen Micro Mp3 player. It always worked fine with my old Laptop (windows XP) and it originally worked with this laptop (windows Vista). Then after my computer crash and I had to restore everything, it stopped syncing right with the computer. Every time I plug the USB cable in, it says the device is not connected. Now, another problem is that I have to update the firmware on my Mp3 player in order for it to work (So I can also put more music onto it). But in order to do that, I need it to connect.and before I forget: Yes, I tried changing USB cords and different USB ports.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Home Premium n an HP laptop and up until yesterday everything was just fine. I also have SP1 and that went well. Yesterday, the system kept freezing or operating extremely slow and for the life of me I had no clue of what was going on. I had to press and hold the power button to shut down so I could reboot. I could not open Control Panel at all - the hour glass just kept swirling but nothing else would happen. After the reboot the system displayed the same behavior and at this point I noticed that it wasn't really locked up but in fact operating so slow that it appeared that way.
After no luck with the obvious I checked the startup group - nothing there, I cleared out the temp folders and files which seemed to help. I decided to simply use a system restore to a previous state of a few days ago. The first time I did this, I got a message that Windows was NOT successful with the restore. I tried an earlier restore point and got the same notification that the restore was NOT successful but it appeared that it was. A program I installed after that particular restore point was gone and the system seemed to be better -
I have a Asus pro80 series laptop with Vista 32 bit. I connect using the ethernet Lan. Uptil about one month ago averything was fine. Since then my Connection after about 10 to 20 minutes slows right down until it stops. It dosn't actually disconnect from my provider. it just stops. If I dis-connect and re-connect then it will work again for a while. Then stops.
What I have tried so far: Updated the drivers for the realtek ethernet. Reinstalled Vista Installed the vista service pack 1 Checked power settings for the ethernet card. Other info: I know that the connection its self is ok as i use the same cable for my works laptop without any problem. Hardware manager says all is running correctly Changing user has no impact.
My daughter purchased a Dell PC that has Vista 64 bit loaded. We didn't realize it was the 64 bit version until recently. Her problem is with IE. She has broadband access, but as soon as she drills down more than two levels, her browser slows right down. For some reason, it worked well and fast for about a month, but she recently rebooted her PC and it's s-l-o-w again. Has any else experienced this problem? Is there any way or reason to go to the 32 bit version of Vista?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the 32bit version and the computer is no more than 2 weeks old. I have a feeling this may be a virus I have always been very careful with what I do on the tinterweb and generally look after the computer as best I can. I have been using Windows Defender firewall and AVG antivirus and spyware.
I downloaded a file last night, placed it inside My Documents> Downloads. I now have reason the believe its a virus. All in all the computer runs like a dream, but since downloading this file, whenever I go into my Documents, my CPU speed jumps up to around 50% and stays there, then If I go into my Downloads file within my documents, my CPU speed shoots up to 100% and hangs there until the computer is restarted? The file that was downloaded is the only file within the Downloads file. I'm 99.9% sure that whatever it is, its causing this problem. If for example I just turn the machine on and dont access my Docs, it runs fine and only slows down when my Documents is accessed. The file that was downloaded is 10mb's, whenever I try to delete it, the dialog just comes up saying calculating time remaining and doesnt budge. I have scanned my docuemnts and no virus was detected by AVG, I just want to get rid of this file but dont know how!

View 6 Replies View RelatedO/S Vista Home Basic 32 bit. I had some IE problems which were also interferring with my printer causing it not to print. MS/MVP, PA Bear, helped me solve the IE problem in the IE group, which in turn solved the printer not working problem. Now I just have 1 little glitch. The printer will NOT print as long as UAC is enabled but WILL print when UAC is turned off. I did post this question in the printer group 4 days ago but have had no responses.
So my question now is this: Is it important for me to have UAC enabled? In the household there is only 1 computer & 1 printer (both wireless) & I am the only one who knows how to use the computer. I am not worried about people tampering around with my computer in my home. I'm a little foggy as to exactly what UAC controls but from what I can make out it seems it only involves preventing someone from making unauthorized changes to my computer.
I have FRISR-Rescue so I'm typing this in my backup image and it has SP1 in it. I installed SP2 to my original and it has slowed my page loading to a crawl, especially Google. The image I'm in is working OK. After install I defraged the drive but didn't seem to help much. It just takes forever to load a page.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having this weird problem with my Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit system since I installed it. Pretty much, when I run cpu intensive programs like iTunes, the computer slows down significantly to the point where the mouse no longer moves smoothly (it jumps every so often). Furthermore, if iTunes is minimized while playing music and I maximize it, the music starts skipping and repeating itself for about a minute and then starts playing normally again. However, this only happens with a few programs, and I've run Prime95 (four instances to test an overclock) for 12 hours with no problems. During the torture test, my mouse moved fine and the cpu was at 100%. Furthermore, during the slowdown, my CPU is only at 25% usage and physical memory is at 30%. Any idea what could be causing this?
It also happens during the printing of a lightscribe label. While doing this, my cursor and the computer won't function properly until the label is finished printing, at which point it speeds up instantly. To give you an idea, when I pressed CTRL-ALT-DEL during the hangup, it took 23 seconds for the screen to change to the option menu compared to the usual time of less than a second.
I recently turn on indexing for certain areas like users and start menu but it temporarily slows the games down when its indexing. Is there any tuning I could do to alleviate this? I would like to keep indexing but maybe make it not index when gaming.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer takes a long time to shut down and when i log back onto windows it always tells me that windows was shut down incorrectly due to an incompatibility with my version of windows caused by my Trend Micro PC-Cillin Security 14 program. It offers the suggestion to go to the Trend Micro website for updates, but there aren't any updates for it that have to do with vista integration. So I shut off my windows firewall in order to avoid firewall/virus software conflicts, but my computer is still having issues.

event viewer shows that this is the anti spam toolbar as faulting application. i also get a uac requesting permision for same toolbar every time i quit. i have contacted trend micro support who have told me that this is a microsoft problem and i should contact them - i'm not convinced about this hence this post. when i disable uac neither problem occurs. i have vista hp 32 bit and have also another pc with windows 7 ultimate with exact same problem
I am using Vista Home Premium with AVG Free anti Virus and NoAdware. I intend to delete AVG and Install Trend 2008 internet Security. Will it run along side Windows Defender or will i have to shut it down, If so how? Sorry i am not very technical,

Tried to install the 09 version, so it can replace the 08 version, but comes up with a error and can't install. Tried manually, but no go. I have a backup disk as well as after contacting Trend Micro for assistance I have the PCC14 in a desktop folder. When I attempt to install I get welcome to the Setup Wizard and click next. I immediately get a window stating Setup Interrupted and have to click Finish to exist. I followed Trend Micro's instruction to make certain my previous Trend Micro program was totally removed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Vista Ultimate SP1 on my laptop. The Z: drive maps to an Iomega StorCenter NAS. I can read/write folders, files, etc. with no problem. When I disconnect from the network, I can still see the Z: drive. The folders that I made available offline are accessible and there are placeholders (folder has an X on it) for folders that I did not make available offline.
When I connect back to the network, I would do a reboot and I can see all of the files on the Z: drive again. Given this, it appears that Offline Files is enable. Or, is it? In the Control Panel / Offline Files / General tab, I clicked on "Enable Offline Files" and I got the message below............
Im running DooM3 and Worms 3D on Vista HP 32bit. When I start recording with fraps, it slows down to exactly 3FPS. It does NOT do the same with Crysis however. I didnt try other games yet, but what do U think may be the problem?

Also at the right hand side of my vista by the clock there is a place you can enlarge your web page. I have to put it on 150 each new web site i go to. Is there anyway it can be put on 150 always? But afterward got some proglem, so i have to re-install the vista. And this time, computer recognize my drive. But wont let me use it until I format it. (i can open it but nothing in there) and i get the message:"You need to format the disk in drive x before you can use it."
And yes i try everything i could,install the flash driver from texas instrument and windows sd card roll up package, or even restart the comp with sd card in it. verything! I have all my pics in there and tons of important Documents. I am so frustrated right now. Cause i dont wanna format sd card to lose all my pics in there and docs
I was doing a scan with Spybot Search & Destroy, while it was running there was a Hint of the Day appeared inside the Spybot window. ( See screenshot ). So, if I had one of those 3, I should ditch Spybot? P.S. I do NOT have anyone of those security programs. My question is merely curiosity. Any comment/insight?...........

I noticed that when it is disabled scene on the screen sometimes gets 'desynchronized' (i.e. upper half of the scene is like somewhat 'nudged' compared to the lower half), especially when the player moves fast or camera makes rapid movements (reckon that is why it is also called 'vertical synchronization'). So the question is - should it be enabled or disabled ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWinRAR = 454 w/TLB fix diabled Avg scores for my system 1,100 Call Juarez = 30 FPS Avg score = 45. Dont know whats wrong. Could it be a dead core? How can I check?
1) My WinRAR score with the TLB fix enabled is a sickening 80!!! vs 454 disabled. So I am certain that the fix was disabled at my score of 454.
2)Regarding number of active cores:
a) When I run task manager I see only ONE window for CPU in performance.
b) Running CPU-Z V1.49 shows ONE Processor ONE Core
c) CrystalCUPID V 4.15 shows only ONE of One cores (Code name Agena?) I should see 1/FOUR
d) In Vista Sidebar using mCPU Gadget: Shows Four cores HOWEVER
only ONE ever displays activity. I tested it by really loading up applications and Never saw activity of the other three cores!!!......
