I have tried a few times to download Java from Sun Micro-systems but each time it says it failed. Anywhere else i can get it? Also at the right hand side of my vista by the clock there is a place you can enlarge your web page. I have to put it on 150 each new web site i go to. Is there anyway it can be put on 150 always? I know about the ease of access center and set that one right.

I recently went into Change Date & Time Internet time tab and chose a time standard to connect with. After doing that I went onto the internet and connected with time.nist.gov and checked the time. After that I was no longer able to go into the internet time tab. It tells me that time.nist.gov is the time connection and I can't change it. It tells me I need to have permission to do this as administrator. I am the administrator! What goes here?

Reason given has something to do with recovery from sleep mode - which I never use. Nevertheless, I decided to download and install the update.

No problem so it seems.
But the 32 bit ie is complaining about no java installed.
Should I install 32 bits java as well.
Some applications are complaining about no java if I by accident browse with ie8 32 bits iso 64 bits.
64 bits version is installed and working fine.
But for some sites you need flash and java.
Flash seems not to be available yet for 64 bits and so I have to turn to 32 bits.
But 2 java versions on one machine?
I was upgrading to AVG 8.5 and the download failed. My system will no longer allow me to run or save any setup files from their site or any others. And, I believe the email scanner included with the software has failed in some way that I can no longer open or save attachments from my email. When I try to perform a wndows update, my 9 month old HP notebook keeps getting hung up or says the download failed. It just says it's downloading the updates but continually says 0 KB total and 0% complete, that goes unchanged for HOURS! I eventually have to stop the download but have several important updates that are waiting to be installed. I dont know what to do. HP says I must remove all saved document and file data and reinstall the whole operating system.

By default my microphone plays through my speakers. If I mute the microphone in my playback devices, it disables the whole microphone until I restart. Then after my computer crash and I had to restore everything, it stopped syncing right with the computer. Every time I plug the USB cable in, it says the device is not connected. Now, another problem is that I have to update the firmware on my Mp3 player in order for it to work (So I can also put more music onto it). It offers the suggestion to go to the Trend Micro website for updates, but there aren't any updates for it that have to do with vista integration. So I shut off my windows firewall in order to avoid firewall/virus software conflicts, but my computer is still having issues.

event viewer shows that this is the anti spam toolbar as faulting application. i also get a uac requesting permision for same toolbar every time i quit. i have contacted trend micro support who have told me that this is a microsoft problem and i should contact them - i'm not convinced about this hence this post. when i disable uac neither problem occurs. i have vista hp 32 bit and have also another pc with windows 7 ultimate with exact same problem

I have a backup disk as well as after contacting Trend Micro for assistance I have the PCC14 in a desktop folder. When I attempt to install I get welcome to the Setup Wizard and click next. Im using Vista home premium, at my previous install it recognize my Sandisk 8gb Micro sdhc card w/ Adaptor, and everything is fine. But afterward got some proglem, so i have to re-install the vista. And this time, computer recognize my drive. But wont let me use it until I format it. (i can open it but nothing in there) and i get the message:"You need to format the disk in drive x before you can use it."
And yes i try everything i could,install the flash driver from texas instrument and windows sd card roll up package, or even restart the comp with sd card in it. verything! I have all my pics in there and tons of important Documents. I am so frustrated right now. Cause i dont wanna format sd card to lose all my pics in there and docs

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
Recently I have bought Vista Home Premium x64 and to be honest I am having quite annoying issue with this OS . I had installed Vista on RAID0 partition. Additionally I have three other sata drives for my data . I noticed that from time to time when I am working on vista , system freeze for 2-3 sec then everything is fine and I can continue work. Particulary when for example I am opening some application or even windows explorer , my computer etc. (when it hangs I can't move my mouse). Moreover when it freeze I "hear" something inside my computer case as if my computer weak up from hibernation.

But for the hell of it, I tryed syncing it to all the availible servers but got: "An error occured while Windows was synchronizing with whatever.server" However I can ping the servers in comand prompt. And also, like the topic says, It still keeps perfect time. It set it's own time. So Im clueless. A bios thing perhaps?

It create a folder called "Windows.Old". previously in another installations appered the same folder and I got deleted, but now I can't.
