Word 2007 Has Stopped Working
Jul 26, 2008
I tried doing the same as in 'Word has stopped working' and it did not work for me. I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit and I have Office 2007 (licensed). For a few months Word was working fine and one not-so-fine-day it decided to work errantly. It opens up fine but
- the scroll up and down button stopped working, (also the scroll-bar)
- does not open a word file if the file icon is clicked,
- when I click the Office-button and then 'Word-Options' the options like 'Trust Center' etc do not work. These do not even get the focus when mouse moves over it
- When I close word. It consistently pops up 'Word has stopped working' I guess this has something to do with user-interface icons, buttons etc. I have installed, re-installed Word and also all HP drivers..

When I edit Word Documents I get something that looks weird with all sorts of strange characters in the document or letter. How do I edit a previously created Word file and get it to look like a normal document like they did with Word 2003?

I use Vista and want to know how to open a file that was originally in Word 97? 2003 to open in Vista Word 2007 and how to convert that file to the Word 2007 format. When I searched Microsoft on this issue, it said to click on Start and look for the word convert. When I did that I could not find the work convert.

when I go to the Start menu, click on a recently used Office 2007 program or a pinned Office 2007 program, nothing happens. They don't launch. When I open an actual office 2007 file, the apps load fine however. My other pinned and recent apps shortcuts work - for example, Quickbooks, Epson Scan, MS Email, MS Internet

I have vista home premium 32bit and i have been recently getting error messages like the following: "the program has stopped working". Microsoft office 2007 was working for about couple of weeks when i installed it, but later on, it started not to work. I tried the repair function, reinstalling it, manually deleting the files and reinstalling it afterwards. I have also tried installing service pack 1 RTM to see if it will fix the problem. But so far, nothing works. Will the offical service pack fix this problem?

Word 2007 temporarily freezes to the point that I cannot use it when I do certain things like click on text box and have to wait for the list of templates to be shown. I have to open task manager which makes the list go away, but the next time I click on text box it works normally. This happens on other things where theres similar pretty list of things.

What am I mistakenly activating in Word 2007 that causes a small superscripted zero to appear to the left of some punctuation marks - colons, question marks, quotes etc. It's extremely perplexing and irritating to have to keep getting rid of them. (And what purpose do they serve anyway??? Why would anyone WANT them?)

I have a problem finding Word 2007 files from the Search field in Windows Explorer. Example: I have a file named "test.docx" in "My Documents", and I can see that file right in the Windows Explorer window. However, if I type, say ".docx", or "test", in the Search field in the top right-hand corner of Explorer, the search comes up empty. I can, however, get the search function to find the file if I: use the Search item on the Start Menu use the "Advanced Search" options in Windows Explorer, and have it search all indexed locations use the "Advanced Search" options in Windows Explorer, and have it search in non-indexed locations, hidden and system files
This problem only seems to exist with .docx files, so this may actually be an issue of the Office 2007 indexer rather than Vista. It looks like the Word indexer does not properly store the location information of the file. Oh, and the problem I have may or may not be related to the fact that on my system I have (of course) relocated the My Documents folder to a separate partition. Are others seeing this, too? Is there a fix for this?

I have searched numerous threads and google/yahoo searches for my continuing issues with MS Word 2007 Spell Checker. Spell Checker no longer identifies spelling errors yet grammar correction remains. I have tried registry tweaks and carefully examining the proofing options within Word 2007. I do not have a previous version for a custom install so that is not an option. Spell Check functions fine in ppt and xls but not in Word anymore. If a Word fix is not available are there any free spell checkers that will function inside a word document?

Evidently there are many others who have the same problem since the forums have a lot of people writing to find a solution to this When opening Microsoft Word 2007 a Configuration window would pop up and it would take 40 to 90 seconds for the program to come up. It was worse then some of the Adobe programs.. I'm operating a Vista Ultimate 64x operating system and thought that might be the problem. Evidently it doesn't have anything to do with it. I have been trying for weeks to find the solution to the delay but have been unsuccessful. I checked the many sites Google brought up, checked out several forums and went through all the Microsoft Newsgroups to no avail. I finally found the solution. This is from http://uksbsguy.com/ The full URL is at the bottom of the message. I followed his instructions and IT WORKS!!!! He is evidently a Microsoft employee. This is his solution....How to get rid of the installer / configuration dialog when running Office 2007 and Office 2003 on the same system - for Vista and other versions of Windows
I have been asked this many times following up on the blog entry Installing Office 2003 and Office 2007 on the same system where once people have removed the problem with the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) appearing every time they start Office they then get the dialogs below every time they switch between Word 2007 and Word 2003. when starting Word 2003 when starting Word 2007 The fix to the problem is very simple as it turns out - simply run the following commands (by pressing the Windows Key+R or typing it into the Start/Run command box. Use the line with Office11.0 if you have Office 2003 installed and Office12.0 if you have Office 2007 installed. You can use both if you have both installed : reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice11.0WordOptions /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1.......

By now it should be obvious that, under the Vista operating system, I have Home Premium, there is a severe overall, general "has stopped working" problem.
Thus far I've experienced:
"Internet Explorer has stopped working"
"Windows Explorer has stopped working"
"Word has stopped working"
"Sherlock Holmes Nemesis (Adventure Company) has stopped working"
"Outlook has stopped working"
"Acid 4.0 (Sony) has stopped working"
"Acid 6.0 (Sony) has stopped working"
"Sound Forge (Sony) has stopped working"
Is it not obvious by now that Vista has a problem, maybe a compatability problem, with everything from Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word to third party programs which cause programs, as I mentioned, even programs made by Microsoft, to "stop working"? Is there no an overall "stopped working" patch or something that Microsoft has released by now?...............

All of a sudden some of my programs stopped working, for example catalyst control center is supposed to start as soon as vista starts, but now it gives me an error like:
"CCC.exe has stopped working"
Same with some others...
Yes i ran AVG, i ran malware, and superantispyware, none of them finds anything.
I cant even load daemon tools now, it gives me some error: "Engine loading was failed", cant uninstall it, it gives me another error, and some of the programs like netlimiter if i start them from my objectdock dock they automaticly stop working, only when i start them from the normal .exe they dont crash.

Many have experienced this and I haven't found any solutions on this or other forums. Normally, I like to save the word document I am working on every once in a while. The first few times I do this, there is no problem, but eventually Word will decide that the file you are currently working on is read-only and cannot be saved. The read-only box in the file properties is NOT ticked and all security permissions are in force for the user. I am tired of saving my file under a different name every 5 minutes.

I have searched the net repeatedly looking for a fix to this issue. I seem to only get solutions for Office 2007/Win XP combinations or Vista/Office 2003 combinations but I need a solution for Office 2007 on a Vista system. Error:
Task 'xxxxxxx@xxx.com - Sending' reported error (0x8007000E) : 'Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.'
Task 'xxxxxxx@xxx.com - Receiving' reported error (0x8007000E) : 'Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.'
What I have tried already: Delete and recreate Outlook profile Uninstall and re-install Office 2007 (cleaned all registry entries also) Used ScanPST.exe and ScanOST.exe Deleted all email accounts and re-added I thought there might be a firewall issue since Windows Mail works fine but I found out that Windows Mail uses internet settings and not ports like Outlook. This issue is driving me nuts since I used Windows Mail for about a week now and it's childsplay compared to Outlook! I know my machine has the specs needed to run WAY more resource hungry apps: Intel Quad Core Q6600 (2.40GHz) 3GB Ram Maxtor 300GB SATAII 7200RPM I even killed all other apps besides Outlook and I still get the same issue.

But when I installed it on my Vista Home Premium computer, (I had to install the Macromedia Shochwave 11 player as well) I found out that SOME ANIMATIONS are NOT working! But for the rest the program works good. But when I installed the program on the XP computer of my other son, JUST TO TRY OR IT WOKED, EVERYTHING worked good, including ALL the animations! Is there someone out there who can tell me WHAT I MUST DO to make my Encarta program to work properly on my Vista computer as well?

I had a copy of Ultimate laying around the house and decided for some stupid reason to upgrade the OS yesterday. It's been a nightmare. After 10 hours I've reinstalled many, many programs and have been able to get the to launch all of them with the exception of Outlook. I've searched for a solution and have had no luck following a solution to the problem I'm encountering.
I'm getting the following error message:
>>> Cannot open your default e-mail folders. An unexpected error has occured. MAPI was unable to load the information service mspst.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.<<<
I have successfully used Outlook 2007 for the past 6 months on my home PC. The problems I am encountering began immediately following the upgrade to Ultimate (32 bit--I thought I'd have less problems with drivers going 32 bit route than trying 64). I am hoping to salvage my contacts and calendar if at all possible (I have them backed up on an external drive but it's not current about 6 weeks old...I see an Outlook.pst in Windows.old but I cannot open it). I've had to reinstall Office Ultimate 2007 and I have run repair three times. All the Microsoft Windows Ultimate updates are installed. Not sure if this is related but the Office Ultimate Disc 2 will not install properly.

My laptop froze during a shutdown process and I was forced to turn it off by holding the power button down. Since then my USB hub seems to have stopped working; anything plugged into it doesn't even turn up on the computer even though all the lights on them are on (indicating they are receiving power at the very least). How can I fix this?
