theres a task pane on my desktop and i didnt even open a folder. I restart and its still in my deskstop. I attached a file showing a pic on wuts wrong with it. Can guys tell me wuts going on, cuz i dunno if this is a bug on sp2 or sumthing. Hopefully u guys experienced this too.
View 2 RepliesI really need a help here. About two days ago I was trying to improve the speed of my system. I think I have delete an important file. My curent problem is that When I rightclick a desktop icons I only get an hour glass, the system stops responding to any thing. The only way out of it it to either log off or shut down and restart.When I open the recycle bin though it appears full on the desktop icon I could not see any item on it.If I try do delete, move this folder or any of the command on the left file/folder task pane I only get hour glass. The only way out of it is ctrl+alt+del, task manager (program not responding) end task.

Every thing from my desktop items and my taskbar disappears for a second or 2. The only thing on my desktop that doesn't go blank is my desktop picture.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI opened windows explorer and I think it was taking up so much memory that it froze-I had to wait a while for it to work properly,and then it was really slow(even for my slow pc,I had windows live messenger and itunes' windows open and they just disappeared from the taskbar,and I had to right click on their icons in the right corner(is that the notification area-I forgot),and when they reappeared on the taskbar I had to right click on them,and they would only open when I clicked maximize. It took me a while to open some things in windows explorer too

So i uninstalled Limewire to stop it from doing that. then it carried on trying to load Limewire with Java so i got an Error. So i uninstalled Java. and it's stopped.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy son has a Dell dimension 9100 The taskbar/start and all the desktop icons disappear and then reappear every 10-4 seconds All programs can still be accessed through start if you r quick enough!! otherwise throught the task manager. The system will not start in safe mode, only get a blue screen in safe mode, asdvising to run CHKDSK, which we have. Is the hard drive on its way out?? or does this sound repairable?

And I can't find any of the .dll files online at all. Not only that, but when the computer is starting up internet explorer is using up all of the memory, even though I can't see anything on screen. This slows everything down and I have to turn it off using the task manager to give enough memory to the System Idle Process.

I also can't use ctrl-alt-del to get to task administrator (it has been disabled for some reason-was never a prob before so I didn't fix it...) All this happened the next startup after doing a full system scan with norton and a spybot check (the spybot downloaded a few new updates too).

Used system restore, and now No start menu, task bar or desktop icons.Key board hardly works on power up until the welcome screen, so safe mode start is not possible� Can run certain program using task manager, but none that might help to solve problem.
The start menu, task bar and icons are all missing. The only way i can open anything is to hit ctrl alt del and open the task manager. Where did everything go?

They can only run applications by using the task manager to manually browse to the application and launch. All of the apps work perfectly fine, it's just they have no desktop.I'm sure I am missing something obvious, but this one has me stumped.

Its been there so long that I can't remember if I put it there or if it came that way on the computer. Tonight, the icon had changed and when I clicked on it, I got the little flashlight and asked if I wanted to search. Grrrr. Not the end of the world but I would really like to have it back.

I can run task manager to get to all apps OK, but this is not very useful.I tried running from a previous known good state, but nothing changed. Also, pop up the message: wininet.dll is missing (twice).Now I am able to log in safe mode and can see all desktop icons start button and task bar but still I am unable to get all those in regular mode. I could then click on the 1 i wanted. it was very convenient because i didn't have to close all my windows to see the icons. View 4 Replies View RelatedI clicked on Windows Explorer and it opened but the left pane did not expand and there was not even a + sign if front of the C: drive to expand it. My shortcut path to Explorer is and has been: %SystemRoot%explorer.exe /n,/e,C: and I have it open maximized. It was working just fine about supper time and then I went to do other things and when I came back I had the problem. I have not installed any software nor made any system changes.
