i leave my computer on and go to bed by the time i get up 40 new things are on my desktop not to mention many new tasks are running so what i need help with is getting rid of a few things and getting info if somethings are harmful and if so how to get rid of them heres a list of what i know shouldnt be there and i could use some help getting rid of oh yeah im running on windows xp so yeah

when I click on task manager it only shows the running task window. it used to have a list of all startup stuff and a thing where I could look at a graph of cpu usage, but those are not there anymore
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm having a lot of lockup probs while playing call of duty multi. xp2400 gigabyte nforce, 512 corsair,maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm.in task manager processes i'm running almost 120,000k is that normal ? is there a way to post my task manager processes readout?my hijack log is clean, running spyware blaster, avast a/v, roboform, zone alarm. and a temp monitor.case is clean and all 4 fans are working. heatsink is clean.core temp normally runs around 113 f but saw it get up to around 150 once.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA couple of problems here. When I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, I only get the Tasks that are running. I used to get the Task Manager with all the tabs - applications, processes, performance, networking, and users. Now, nothing. I don't remember changing anything that would affect this. Because of this, I can't shut down applications that screw up or ones that I want to turn off for a specific period.

View 10 Replies View Relatedi want to run an application in windows xp professional and have no button appear on the taskbar. effectively the programme must run in the background and be accessable through the task manager or by using alt+tab to move to it.
Had major trojans, spyware, etc. Ran Malawarebytes removed all beautifully except when I rebooted, I have nothing on my desktop except the wallpaper. When I right click on desktop, nothing. Can access Task Manager and get to files that way but no way to activate desktop. What has happened here? Also, nothing on desktop when I go into SafeMode.

If you open up any program, the CPU usage immeaditely goes from like 0 to 100% and occassionally it will shut down and restart. Such times are when I try to run ad-aware or AVG. It will shoot up to 100%, maybe run for a minute then restart the computer. I cant even delete some files because it just restarts before they delete. So, I tried to do a restore since the last time ive been home when it was working good, about a month ago and it did nothing.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy son has a Dell dimension 9100 The taskbar/start and all the desktop icons disappear and then reappear every 10-4 seconds All programs can still be accessed through start if you r quick enough!! otherwise throught the task manager. The system will not start in safe mode, only get a blue screen in safe mode, asdvising to run CHKDSK, which we have. Is the hard drive on its way out?? or does this sound repairable?

And I can't find any of the .dll files online at all. Not only that, but when the computer is starting up internet explorer is using up all of the memory, even though I can't see anything on screen. This slows everything down and I have to turn it off using the task manager to give enough memory to the System Idle Process.

I also can't use ctrl-alt-del to get to task administrator (it has been disabled for some reason-was never a prob before so I didn't fix it...) All this happened the next startup after doing a full system scan with norton and a spybot check (the spybot downloaded a few new updates too).
