Volume Is Dirty

Nov 27, 2006

While exiting a game I had a system freeze and had to shut my computer down (pulled the plug). Upon restart I got the message "the volume is dirty" and check disk ran. Is this something I should be concerned about? I think I found the right log for it in the event viewer "Winlogon, event 1001" but don't understand whats written in it. Can anyone help me out here? Tell me what a dirty volume is, tell me if there is anything of concern in the log, tell me if I should let it concern me or not?

Volume Is Dirty Every Time Run Internet Explorer

Sep 11, 2010

Whenever I run Internet Explorer, my C: drive gets marked as "Dirty" and the drive gets checked on the next bootup sequence.I have not been able to isolate where the problem is. I don't see any reports of nastiness after running MBAM or Avira AV, thought the system has been infected in the past.

Other Volume Bars Control The Main Volume

Nov 7, 2007

i would be patient and it would go away. at first i noticed that while using msn messenger, its volume control for voice chat controled the main volume for the whole pc. so if it was low things wouldnt sound as high as i wanted. no matter if i adjusted the main volume in the control panel, which was always set to highest, the volume would still be at the mercy of msn m. so if it was lower than usual i would have to sign into msn m and adjust it. not only does this happen with msn m. it also happens with web video applications used by Internet, livevideo, etc etc! those arent usually the culprit of low sound. its usually just msn m.

Jun 15, 2005

So i was trying to make some room on y C drive and i guess i deleted some files that i shouldn't To make a long story short now my volume control thingy that stays on my taskbar has dissapeared. When i go to the control panel and to sounds and audio devices and i get in there and there is an icon with the option to place volume icon on the taskbar but when i click on that i get 'windows cannot display the volume control on the task bar because the volume control program has not been installed. After several tries i figured i deleted the windows file soundvol32.exe but how the hell do i get it back and put it in its right place?I have no idea where it would go? Volume Keeps Getting Muted

Feb 10, 2006

For some strange reason, my volume keeps getting muted. When I open the VOLUME CONTROL, the MUTE ALL box is checked, so I uncheck it. Then, a little while later it happens again. This had been going on for about a week now and it's very frustrating. Especially when you're in the middle of a game or spomething and all of a sudden, theres no sound.

New Keyboards Can't Control Volume

Jul 6, 2005

Situation: Had MS Natural Keyboard Pro PS2 with the media keys working just fine. Problem... it's a white keyboard and all my stuff is now black or silver. Okay, get a new keyboard, MS Wireless Natural Keyboard. Uninstalled and reinstalled old/new software. ONly problem, the new keyboard can't control volume up/down. It can mute/unmute and all other special keys work.

where the link is that ties those keys in to the main volume control in registery. Here's something interesting: If I plug the old PS2 keyboard in, no drivers, XP recoginizes and all media keys work fine on it including volume. If I keep both keyboards installed simultaneously they both work fine and control everything EXCEPT the new one can't raise/lower the volume, just mute.

Unmountable Boot Volume

Aug 28, 2008

I then went to the recovery console after booting from the XP CD and tried chkdsk /p with NO success. I was given a different BSoD with a new error relating to the ntfs.sys file and a stop code of: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF78FE905, 0xF78FE600, 0xF7F8E2BD) referencing memory address F6F3E2BD @ F6EF0000.
I then ran the dell utility to check HDD structure and memory and the diagnostics came back clean ... NO errors, NO problems.I tried googling those stop codes, but didn't get anything useful back. I need some help with this please. Would copying a new ntfs.sys file help? I am using Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 to view file system and structure and I can see all the files on the disk from the Acronis CD and have the capability to edit files as well if that is needed. Someone please help ... I NEED to at least get this PC to a bootable state to transfer files off it.
