i've duplicate folders in certain folders but i can't delete them, the folder has the same name but under it there is a detail "gy". the folder shape is slight bigger and straight. what to do?
View 1 RepliesI reinstalled Windows XP Pro and afterwards a folder, with subfolders, is not possible to open or even delete. It contained quite a lot of data and now it says that it contains 0 files.I have tried programs like deleteatboot and unlock, but its still there. I can drag and drop files into the folder but then that file just dissapear and the folder still says 0 files and 0 bytes.I can also move the folder.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe utility I use on my computer (a 3GHz P4 running Win XP) is SystemSuite 7. Like all utilities, it has a registry cleaner. However, every time I do a registry cleanup, four keys show up as empty and are automatically checked by the program for deletion, but when I hit the "Next" button to delete everything that's checked, those four keys cannot be deleted because "Access is denied". As I say, all are reported by SystemSuite as empty. I've checked them and they are indeed empty. I tried booting into Safe Mode as Administrator to delete them using regedit, but access is also denied in Safe Mode. How can I get rid of these? SHOULD I get rid of them (i.e., even though empty, do they server some obscure purpose)?

However, after downloading not only would the file not play using media player, but I could not delete the file from the "My Music" file. I find there are a couple left over that wont let me delete them. They are ZTR21E.tmp and ZTR224.tmp.
I receive an error message:
Cannot delete ZTR21E.tmp: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and
that the file is not currently in use. (There are no programs open and the Task Manager confirms that.)
I made a folder (right click/new folder) on my desktop and used it to keep some files I received organized. When I was done with the job, I erased everything and when I went to delete the folder, it tells me: Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.
I have tried deleting it on boot (?) but those programs only delete files not folders.

Today I went to a search of all pictures on my computer. From there I do a List and sort by size, after that I click on images so I can see if there are duplicates on my files. There is duplicates of everything however when i look into the file containing the pictures or documents it shows that both of the items are in the same location. When I go to that location there is only one of the items. Does anyone know why my search is showing duplicates of everything however they have the same path.
I am at a loss as to why everything is duplicated on my computer, especially because when you look where they are located they are in the exact same files.

In the startup folders of the start menu, if the items are in the user's startup folder, they don't start up. If the item is in the All Users startup folder, they open twice. This is evident as well when looking at startup items in msconfig. If the items are in the user's startup folders, they don't appear in msconfig, but when they are in the All Users folder, they appear twice, once as "Common Startup" and once as "Startup"
I downloaded a registry checker and it had a thing in it I could see if I had any duplicate files....HOLY SHAMOLY, there are a ton of them, I am afraid to delete....see below, can someone advise on which is safe to delete? trying to clean up computer. Noticed several folders in "My Documents" were missing so thought I didn't back up to the thumb drive often enough so figured they were lost in the crash.
Wasl looking for a file and was unsure in which folder it might be located so did a "search" and found it in "My Documents". Went back to the "My Documents" folder and it wasn't there so did another search. This is what I discovered:
I went into Windows Explorer and found "My Documents"
I went into "My Computer" and then the "C" drive and found Documents and Settings, Gary, My Documents in the tree
I have a home network of three computers connected to a Linksys router which is connected to a cable modem to Road Runner. In one machine I am running W2K Professional with IIS 5.0. I am trying to build a web site consisting of a large number of web pages and associated .jpg, .gif and .mp3 files. The W2K Pro machine, which is running IIS 5.0, always creates a bugcheck error and reboots after I enter the URL to the web pages in questions. The requests are entered from a XP Pro machine on the local network. The W2K machine bugchecks and reboots whenever I kill a browser session and then restart it. The Event viewer in the W2K Pro machine shows an error message that says, "A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network. The IP address of the machine that sent the message is in the data. Use the nbtstat -n " I cannot do any of this as the the machine bugchecks and reboots. All machines on the local network are configured for DHCP for compatability with Road Runner. My W2K Pro machine is current with SP4 plus updates. The machine I am using for the browser is XP Pro current to SP2 plus updates since.
How can I duplicate an installation of Windows 2003/Exchange 2003, to another machine having a different hardware configuration.

I want to purge my system from "true" duplicate files. However, when I tried to do so in the past, I ran duplicate file finders, and deleted files which were supposedly duplicates. I then had to locate and reload a number of them because I began to have inconsistencies in my system.
