trying to save to cd, get message "don't have administrative previleges'. I am owner of pc, but have other user accounts that I manage, all with administrative priveliges.
View 1 RepliesI've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA while back I had a program or a tweak that enabled me to change/add to the list on the left side of the window that opens when you want to save or save as. So, if I was saving a photo, instead of clicking on My Documents >> My Pictures, I was able to just click on My Pictures, ect. (See Photo) Does anyone know of a tweak/program that would allow me to do this?

Hopefully a wipe is not in order, as I have many things I'd like to save on my HD.

Whenever try to install a agame or some other program that needs administrative privileges it won't let me. I'm the only person who uses this computer, I don't have a network or anything. I tried creating a new user account, nothing, I tried using system restore from a week ago where I wasn't having the problem, still nothing. Anyone know what could possibly be wrong?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen downloading files, any type files, just using IE's dialog, or using a Download Manager's dialog, Explorer's Save or Save As panels *will not* allow me to create a new folder on XPpro [current user's] desktop! I am allowed to save the file to the desktop, and of course, can then create a new folder directly on the desktop with the context menu, and etc. It will allow me to create a new folder anywhere else and save any type file being downloaded into that new folder.It simply will not allow me to create a new folder on the Desktop.Could this be some kind of registry alteration?

"There has been an unknown error! If you are running windows 2000, you may need a user with more privileges. Please contact your system administrator".
I do not have administrative rights on the computor at work. When I attempt to either download an update or do other simple tasks, I receive a message informing me I either must have administrative rights or to contact the assigned administrator. I really don't want to contact the IT guy because that department is short staffed. Is there any way I can add my name as an administrator?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Texas Instrument TI- 84 Plus Silver Edition Graphic Calculator and when I tried to load the accompanying TI CONNECT software, my computer would only allow part of it to load. Actually the program loads it is when the program goes to "setup" that I receive an error message telling me that I am not an admistrator; therefore, cannot complete the setup. When all is send and done, there are some functions the calculator will perform but the major functions will not like loading anything to and from the computer to the calculator. When I use the Screen Capture function it will do so, indicating that the two are communciating. Other processes will not function however.

I had to reboot, however it turns out the account I was using is on the remote domain, so I cannot log in. I don't have the administrator password, and would like to somehow set the domain back to what it was earlier so I can log in again. How would I go about doing this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday when I tried to reboot a Windows 2000 Server box it proceeds through the startup process VERY slowly and when it finally gets to the login box and I enter the administrative username and password that has always worked in the past, I get the following error:userinit.exe - Application Error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.When I click OK the desktop will not come up and the server is useless. I have seen some other information about this error, but most of them assume that the computer is accessible. I have not been able to get to a desktop normally or through any safe mode options.

Avg free version healed most of what it could find which was about 3 threats: autorun.exe, printer.exe and one other.Further scans are revealing nothing now and i've lost all my admin abilities.
