Not exactly inoperative, but I have to click several times before the command 'takes'. I have XPSP3. On all applications, Yahoo mail/card games ; even moving the cursor within text takes several clicks
I am working on a friend's PC and have encountered a problem related to the mouse and Keyboard being inoperative in Windows. The machine is a Dell E-310 with 3.0Ghz processor, 512 Meg RAM, XP Home and USB Keyboard and mouse. The machine boots into Windows and reaches the login screen OK. However, the Mouse and Keyboard are completely inoperative leaving the system stuck at the login screen. The Keyboard works fine when the machine is booted into the BIOS setup menu. I also booted the machine using a Knoppix CD and both the Keyboard and Mouse work perfectly in Knoppix. This seems to rule out any hardware issues and points to Windows as the culprit. Dell did not provide a CD with the Windows installation disk so I am kind of stuck on the problem at this point. The machine is past its Dell warranty date.
I have a fairly new computer running Win XP. On it, I had an older Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with appropriate software. The keyboard died, so I bought a new cheapie that connects via USB. And I still have the wireless mouse. Since the change, my computer has slowed horribly, with keyboard and mouse commands, in particular, taking too long to register. I have removed the Logitech Itouch keyboard software (not the Mouseware),and installed the new keyboard software. I have defragged, scanned for viruses, and used Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper to see if I had some clogging spyware.
Is there some place that I can search to see if windows files/commands are legitimate? I have Zone Alarm and it has programs on it trying to access the Internet that I do not recognize. Another one was: Microsoft Out of Bounds. I have Windows XP Home Edition with all updates.I have ZoneAlarm free and McAffee AntiVirus.Nothing has been detected.

I am having issues with my keyboard and mouse(hence the title). My keyboard works fine while in the bios and while booting, but once the Windows Bar stops going from side to side and I start to see my desktop load, the screen is in 640x480 resolution or something (like safe mode) and I can't use my keyboard or my mouse, even though the lights on both are lit(so they have power). Earlier, I was having problems with my hal.dll (long story, but I ended replacing it from my MCE OEM CD in the recovery console((which I have in my MBR Boot menu)), and now I am here). I think that that might be the contributing issue here, but I have no clue what to do next. The same thing happens when I enter safe mode. I would just boot from my XP DVD and do a repair, but DELL gave me a DVD-ROM OEM disk with my XPS 600 even though the only drive I can boot from is my CD-RW DRIVE as far as I know. I have checked my boot order in my bios. I can boot from USB or Onboard or Removable Hard drives and Cd Drives.
I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.

Can I somehow save commonly used commands? For example, I have problems with my printer about 1/3 of the time. Microsoft has the fix HERE (Method D), and I want to save that run command into a dropdown menu or something (I've already saved the notepad file to the desktop) so that I don't have to look it up all the time. Is that possible? I know it will be there when I open it, IF I haven't used any other run commands, but I want to make sure it's always available without having to look it up.
For some reason CTRL + ALT + DEL doesn't do anything on my computer. i don't even know the proper term for what it does do, but i would appreciate any explanation alternative.

Anyone ever seen this, I thought I had misplaced one of my laptops at work and decided to do a ping just to see what would come up.I pinged the name and sure enough an ip address fired back stating it was in my building.I attempted to remote into the pc and saw a name that was one of our exec officers. I had just given this exec a new computer the day before so I was pretty sure she did not have my pc
