I am trying to do some stuff from the recovery console for a Windows XP Home laptop that is in a boot-bsod-boot loop. However, when I go into the consol I do not get the C:Windows> directory as normal. Just C:. Whats the proper command to enter this directory.

The names of the folder are 15 characters long and are alphanumeric and have one subfolder in each named i386. And are ?0? in size. I first tried shift delete, ?Can?t remove access denied? I download and tried Erase. First with 1 pass, nothing? Not even an error! I went all out and did the Gutmann, 35 passes. Nothing and no error! The file just remains. For convenient sake I renamed the main folder to 1 and 2 and booted into the recovery consol and tried to delete it from there. Same thing! ?Can?t remove access denied? What the!!

So I found this site has a solution that uses the xp recovery cd:when i use the copy command, windows tells me "The system cannot find the file specified" So what do I do. Can I somehow copy the files from the windows xp cd to my hard drive, then use the copy command.

I can access one user account but the ones that were available before the infection do not come up when trying to log into this PC. In the user account management consol I can see the accounts and they are enabled. But I cannot log into them... What am I missing?

The problem is, when I launch my "Vaio PCV-RS430G" recovery disc it goes straight to Sony's proprietary recovery interface which provides ONLY the preset option to wipe my 'c' drive and reinstall Windows. According to some MS articles I've read, an XP recovery disc should allow me to access the Windows Recovery Console (by typing "R" at the welcome screen). Can anyone suggest how I can bypass the Sony recovery and get to the Windows Recovery Console?

Microsoft has the fix HERE (Method D), and I want to save that run command into a dropdown menu or something (I've already saved the notepad file to the desktop) so that I don't have to look it up all the time. connecting to a specific website and contacted my ISP as i was being blocked by someone and still am. I then installed a IP blocker and since have been able to connect. When i contacted the ISP they were getting me to do a heap of things with ipconfig netish ip reset and a few of ipconfig commands. Since ive done all these my home network hasnt been able to work. I have gone back into My Network and done the network wizard again and again I have also reinstalled another network card and still wont work. I have assigned IP address to all computers on the network. On all other computers you can see everyones computer with the exception of the host. The host computer cant been seen on the network and cant access any other computer as well. The internet wont work on any other computer either but the host internet works. i have another bootable HDD and booted from it and everything works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSystem recently began taking a long time to load, and to execute commands.. Also some unusual responses. Slow to load browsers. Whether I.E., Chrome or Firefox. When logged onto the internet, responses, page changes and other commands are very fast, and links connect with very little delay. The problem is with trying to start up and log on, and do other work on the system. Sloooow. Also I have Skype 4.0 installed, and wanted to Uninstall it in order to add the latest Skype. However when I try to uninstall via Add/Remove in Control Panel I get an Error message " Network Error occurred while trying to read file C:\WindowsinstallerSkype.msi" I get this even if I try to install the new Skype over the old (4.0). What seems to be the problem?
