I have Windows XP. I downloaded some programs in the last two weeks from the Internet that I later deleted. Now I am getting this ANNOYING message when I use Internet Explorer.

How I can get it downloaded. Server not found.I also cannot get in and change the internet section in the dropdown. It keeps saying that I don't have authorization and need to contact the administor. I am the administor. Some funky program/application has taken over and I can't find it to remove it in add/remove. It is hidden and I
don't know what I am doing.
I am running XP Home. Once I delete the internet history from the internet options, close IE, re-open IE and the history I just deleted comes back to life? Scanned my system using Norton System Works and Internet Security. Supposedly no virus or spyware or such.

The computer was running sluggish so I went back to a later restore date. When the computer came back up after restore only my husband and my profile were shown. while signing into my profile i get the following error message:

This application has failed to start because
WININET.dll was not found. re-installing the app may fix the problem.
what do i do to get this back? There are no icons or start menue on my deskdop just my background. I can view files if i go to task manager but nothing else can be done. I know very little about computers and I need help very stressed. My kids need a computer for school.
I've got a problem with Internet Explorer (thought this question belongs to this forum). Well, everytime I exit Internet Explorer, then open it back again - I see that all my cookies were deleted. Why does that happen? Is it some wrong configuration in IE? If so, how and where can I change it?

Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a hp windows xp model number a705w and a problem arose with my internet. Whenever i open up any web browser (IE, Firefox, Safari) it won't let me!!! When i run the diagnostics for IE it says there is a problem with my HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP ports (error 12029). I do not have any firewalls besides the normal windows one and sometimes I have gone as far as to turn that off too but that doesn't work either. The wierd thing is that all the web browsers work in safe mode with networking but not in the normal mode so my ISP says there is aproblem my computer.. any ideas what it is or how to fix it?
