I have written a story and inserted 5 pictures but the file size is large to send via e-mail.If I reduce the picture size down to 30% will the file size shrink as well or does eveything remain the same.

It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd.
If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point.
When I click on a Word document (on my Desktop, for example), it seems to take a long time for the document to open. Yet if I have Word open and click on the document it opens instantaneously. Similarly, when I right click on a document, photo, spreadsheet file, it takes what seems a long time for the menu (Open, Run as, Send to, Delete, etc..) to open.

The OS does see the DVD drive because Roxio can burn to the drive. I prefer saving directly to the the drive from Word. What could be the problem?

The system is supposed to have Windows XP resident, but I'm not finding any of it. Also, I want to be able to convert old Word Perfect files to Word -- and vice versa, but have thus far been unsuccesaful in figuring out how to do it.

(It was before the format).I have typed in "Export Pictures from CD to My Pictures folder" without the quotes and I get a list of links pertaining to CD recording errors and other things like that. I did right click on a picture in Drive E (my CD-RW) just to see what would come up and I noticed that on the Send To menu that these pictures can be sent to the desktop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have taken a series of pictures on different days and downloaded them into a folder in My Pictures. I need to put them in a sequence so I right clicked each picture and re-named it as follows: 001jpg, 002jpg and so on for 100 pictures. In view, I selected arrange icons by modified and all the pictures moved to the sequence I wanted. All is well and good until I copied the folder to a CD. All the pictures reverted to their original sequence instead of the sequence I put them in.
How can I copy the folder with the pictures in the sequence I put them in? Whenever I open the picture file to look at that folder, they are always in the sequnce I put them in
I am using an old Dell with XP and Internet Explorer 7. When previewing some images I have stored in My Pictures, I find when using the 'previous' and 'next' buttons I am able to pull up the next or previous pictures as I should. But when I e-mail an image to myself and then use the 'next' or 'previous' buttons, I begin to get images from web sites I have recently visited even if it is just my home page. While scanning my home page, for instance, I collect dozens of images in a matter of minutes.The only change I have made recently is a download of info from a digital camera disc to enable me to store pictures from my new camera.
I did a system restore to a couple of days before that download but I'm still copying dots, dashes, logos and pictures or frames from videos.
I run sfc, I get a message saying insert your xp pro service pack 3 cd. The problem is that I don't have sp3 cd. What should I do? By the way, I don't have xp intallation cd, but I have manufacturer's restore cd which does not have sp2 nor sp3.

If I create a new e-mail (either by clicking on a contacts name or writing a new one) and copy & paste a message into the main blank area or click the 'insert picture' icon on the toolbar - the mail is not being sent out. Neither drive will recognize that there is a empty disk in the drive. I've tried different media and various makes of CD's and DVD.'s. I can burn a disk in the Cd/DVD
drive using "Nero". And both drives will open if there is data, music, or pictures on the disk in either drive, but I cannot open a blank empty disk unless it is in conjunction with something I'm doing with Nero.
There are no yelow symbols in device manager. And I have uninstalled both IDE channels that the optical drive is on and on reboot win 2000 reinstalled them automatically. I have updated the firm ware for each drive. Replaced the USB cable for the external drive and before I reloaded the updated firm ware I uninstalled both drives and reinstalled with the updated firmware. My three malware/spyware
programs have been run as has both of my virus programs.
Working on xp box, wouldn't backup data from qbpro directly to cd, uninstalled nero, realplayer and other extraneous items, rebooted and wala! No problem, cd writing wizard popped up after backup, did probably 10 backups. She also mentioned that her accountant couldnt get her flashdrive to install anymore. I plugged in usb device. No sweat, popped right up. Today she called, same problem, have to shut machine down completely to resolve it now, windows restart won't fix it. (which sadly, I realize was the case yesterday) She was atttempting to make multiple backup cd's, so she checked burn same again. It comes up with insert writeable cd. Doesn't recognise swap, after exiting cd wizard one time, it did pop up with the contents of the cd, but only one time. Also figured out that if I insert usb device after restart, it recognises it correctly, but then get write error (insert writeable cd) when attempting to do a a backup. If I start doing backups, can do them fine, utnil trying to write same file to another cd. Have found many referneces to autoinsert errors in the registry etc. but auto insert appears to be working after restart. Am confident complete reinstall will fix the problem.

this has been happening on a few installs i've attempted: after an exe extracts to the /temp folder, it doesn't want to find "pftx.tmp" and asks for the Install Disk (Insert Disk/browse dialog) and the install breaks - i've also had problems with "Catastrophic Failures" with InstallShield installs, and don't know if these are related - i've attempted to reinstall Windows Installer and upgrade the InstallShield engine, to no avail. any true geeks (i'm just a wannabe) have an idea what this "annoyance" might be caused by?

I did so, but the feature/dll/driver whatever it was (I forget) was not on the disk.Now, whenever I start my machine it stubbornly requests that I insert the install disk. Whenever I remove media from a drive and replace with a new disc, windows only displays the old data and doesn't recognize the new disc. Especially frustrating during a multi disc install. Sometimes it will refresh if I eject the disc through a menu vs. drive button. Other times this doesn't work. This happens with both drives, so it doesn't seem to be hardware issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have given my 40GB ATA HDD to my friend to fetch some movies he has got in his 160GB SATA HDD. He configured my HDD as secondary master and copied all the movies to mine. Later he removed my HDD and rebooted the system to find that his HDD isn't booting up. He says that his HDD isn't being detected in the BIOS. The well known error message "No bootable device found. Insert system disk and press Enter" appears every time he tries to boot his system. What can the solution other than formatting?( Formatting isn't favourable as there is critical data in the HDD).
