Anyway all my icons on my desktop are zoomed in, when i zoom them out the space between them is huge and on all applications everything is zoomed in. My start bar has text that is really zoomed in. Even the minimise, restore down and red cross in the top right corner of my browser are zoomed in. Any ideas on how I can make this smaller. ( I have already tried changing my resolution).
View 14 RepliesI can't get to "search" or "run." I changed the icon size to "small" in the properties>start menu>customize, but that isn't helping at all. In my other accounts the start menu text is fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to reformat my daughters computer using the Windows XP Home Edition CD. But after installing a new CD Rom drive, the computer doesn't recognize the cd rom. I tired add new hardware wizard but when it gets to the part where I can pick the hardware I am trying to install it doesn't list any CD rom drives. I have even tried to change the boot sequence in the Bios settings. Still no luck. So I am hoping that there is a way for me to make a start up disk using the Original Windows XP Home Edition CD.

His start menu shows all the icons for programs but under some things like My Computer, and some others, there is no text or title text. On Facebook, you can see a person's picture on the feed, but no name. In Firefox, with new tabs, it doesn't show what the tab titles are. Control panel too also shows all icons and no title.

We have tried to restore and a varety of other things.The Netbook DOES NOT have a CD drive nor do we have an external CD drive.We have a 1Gig USB stick, We ended up by having to order 2 discs from Acer - 1 to fix the partition and one to fix Windows.How do we make the stick bootable? View 7 Replies View RelatedSmall irritating issue here, I have a pc running WindowsXP Pro and every time the system is rebooted I get the System Configuration Utility box come up, the one saying, "You have used the System Config Utility to make changes to the way windows starts.etc." I have seen this before and am use to it as I use the utility to stop alot of apps. The difference this time is that I cannot get the box from appearing after each startup. I have checked the box that says "Don't show this message or launch the system configuration utility when windows starts", but it shows up every time. I have also tried to remove this from the registry.

On IE when we made Yahoo our browser, the toolbar words and toolbar icon pics look much smaller than before and that is a prob for my husband who is legally blind. I have already increased the size of the icons on the desktop and also in the start menu list, but have no idea what to do to increase size of the items on the IE/Yahoo.com tool bars at top of page ie: File, Edit, View, etc. And also the back/forward/refresh/stop/ and home icons up there.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Windows for my sister, who is visually impaired. I just installed Windows XP Pro. Just finished it, and then handed it over to her, to customize her settings. Since she has bad vision, she usually lowers the resolution down to 800x600 and has the font size and title bar sizes larger. Well as soon as I left her alone with her computer, she messed up the windows or icon settings so bad, so everything is HUGE. Everything is so huge, that (what should be) small menus now fill the whole screen. We can't get to the part of the preferences window to change the resolution to something higher, and we can't get to anywhere (that we know of) to change anything back to something resembling normal. Basically, we can't do anything anymore.I know I can reinstall Windows XP all over again, but since I JUST DID THAT I'd like to avoid having to do it all over again. Is there some way to reset the preferences, without having to reinstall the whole operating system for something so seemingly idiotic?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty with text diplaying in bizarre fashion. The machine is a Dell Optiplex tower operating Windows XP Pro. When I am in an application or browsing web pages and choose one of the dropdown boxes, the box drops down and shows the outside lines of the box. Then when you swipe your cursor over the dropdown it will display the text that is invisible. All that I have to do to show the text is pass the cursor over the area. If I do not swipe the are with the cursor the text will be there, I assume, but never display.Has anyone encountered this issue before.

Whats happening is it's not printing the text of documents but if i insert a picture it will print that with no problems, even printing from the internet it will only print pictures. I scanned something that was only words and it printed that. I thought maybe it was the black ink cartrige so i put a new one in and it still isn't printing. If i put the words in a different colour it will print them just not in black.

Or either it does highlight a bit then stops and will not continue to highlight the text so I am able to copy it.How can I fix this problem.
