View 6 RepliesIf I have stripe or volume sets on one machine, lets say spaning 2 disk in either case. If I unplug the drives as a pair and put them in another XP/2000 box, will the OS automatically recognise them as the stripe or volume set pair? Likewise if I install XP/2000 on a box containing such a pair, will the OS detect the volume/stripe correctly during install?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new laptop from someone. The hard drive was bad so I replaced it with a new 80g segate one. I loaded Windows XP SP2 on a disk I had burnt as a backup. Lots of time when I install stuff it suddenly just quits out of the installer.
When I try to install Office XP the install quits and I get a error with the msiexec.exe install
I have tried updating to version 2 of the installer and also have done the microsoft updates for the os. Im not sure why im still getting the errors, possibly the msiexec.exe didnt install right? If so is there a quick fix for this or should redo the OS?
I am having problems with installing new programs that require Windows Installer. Apparently, msiexec.exe crashes each and every single time I use Windows Installer, and the moddll responsible for this was ntdll.dll.

My aunt's computer exploded last week so a re-built it into an old case I had, and set it up on my keyboard/mouse/screen. Now when she takes it home and plugs it into her old 17" monitor, it always resets itself into an unusable video mode.I had her boot into safe mode and everything works fine. But I can't figure out how to reset the resolution settings

All original profile files and documents are visible using "explore" but each time machine is started a new temp profile is created. Have run C Cleaner, Disk Cleanup etc to try and sort out slow running (which seems to fix itself after some time) but the profile glitch is a pain
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I was playing Counterstrike and suddenly the colors started changing. The red changed into a dark color that was hard to see and the blue changed to a very light color. I thought it was just the game so I alt tabbed. Turns out everything had a slight color change.I thought there might be an issue with my video card's driver. I have a NVIDIA Geforce 7600 GT. So I went to the nvidia website and downloaded the most recent driver, installed it, and restarted my computer

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted due to slowing of my computer and things have been great, playing alot of Battlefield 2142 and it looks amazing on my rig, however today I was playing and things were going excruciatingly show, and eventually just stopped. I had to unplug it and turn it back on. I noticed problems immediately after XP loaded up and got on my user. Resolution was to a minumum, my AIM, Steam, and just about everything crashed and gave me the error report message. Everytime I load AIM or Firefox(IE too), it gives me an error report screen, however there really isn't a problem, i just move the error window to the corner of my screen and I'm able to browse freely.
