Computer Reboots But Dont Go Into Windows
Jan 15, 2007On my comp, I could not reboot. Anyway I went(boot in safe mode,Last known...) the comp would just reboot and not go into Windows. I took the System diskl that came with it originally(2 years ago) and rep0aired the windows with the repair option instead of reinstalling windows completely. It worked fine, but i found windows to be XP service pack 1. I now updated service pack 1 completely and then updated to service Pack 2. Heres the prioblem. When Installing SP2 i kept getting Application errors for numerous Application stated below. On anyone of the Applications, the message was: instruction @ "ox5a00671a" referenced memory @ "oxff3fb084". The memory can not be "read".

you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup cd rom, select r at the first screen to start repair press 'r'
The problem is that this error already occurred and i cant access my windows at all. I have a mac computer with bootcamp (so it has both a mac and pc harddrives), the pc harddrive being the one that has this problem and that i cant access. Unfortunately, I do not have the original XP CD so that's probably not an option... Is there any way I can fix this problem without the CD, or is it absolutely necessary?
Stand By / Hibernate, Windows Dont Start
Sep 8, 2006My computer got in stand by/hibernate mode, my dad dont know much about computers so he decide to turn off using the power botton while my windows xp sp2 was on stand by mode, now my computer is dead, when i turn it on my monitor ( xerox flat screen) says no signal , i cant make it come back from stand by/hibernate mode, my friend told me if i turn it off on this modes then my windows wont recognice the monitor, keyboard (usb) and mouse (usb),
when i turn it on the red ligh is always on, reset button dont work. Monitor dont recive signal.If i disconect the power cable, when i conect it back it turn on itself without clicking power boton.Only way to turn it off is holding the power Boton. i doubt the mouse/keyboard are recognized by windows.

Feb 9, 2008I restarted my computer after installing an update to my firewall program. I get the "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WindowsSystem32Hal.dll" I tried to do system restore first (F10) and it tried to start windows to start the system restore program I suppose and so of course the same error message came up. After retrying a few times, I tried the other option in system recovery (f10) and it said user data would be preserved but I may need to reinstall programs, so I thought that'd be fine. I let it do it's thing and came back later when it was done and it looked like the first time I started my computer ever where it has that cheesy music and asks you to name your computer, etc. So I'm finally in Windows again (XP Media Edition 2002 SP2) and the first thing I check is my documents folder and all my documents are gone! I checked the properties of the C: drive and it shows that I've used 224GB space, but I can't find my files anywhere. I've looked in all profiles in documents and settings. It seems like the files should be somewhere since the hard drive shows that I have that used space.

Aug 18, 2008I recently installed Comodo Firewall and once again, it was too much for me to handle, so I uninstalled it and went back to Windows Firewall until I can find something else. However, as most people experience, it is still listed as my running firewall in the security center. I googled the problem and I have tried everything that I have found to get rid of it and it will not go away! I followed the instructions on the Comodo page and when it comes to deleting the repository file, it won't allow me to. I hit delete and it comes up that a file is still in use. I tried again and again, went under safe mode, and nothing. I tried to run the Command line....it tells me the repository file is not empty and Command will not let me proceed any further.
I tried System Restore, which solved the firewall problem but brought on antivirus problems (I have the Avira free edition). The AV guard will not work. I click "Antivir Guard Enable"....nothing. The definitions remain at the day I restored back to and when I try to update, it says my program is up to date. I go to the Service program under Administrative tools to start it, same problem. I have restored back a couple times and have never had this problem. So I ended up undoing both system restores and am back to the firewall problem. I can't get rid of it no matter what I do.

Dec 8, 2007when i updated my Zone Alarm firewall, I uninstalled it cos I was getting severe problems with the computer completely hanging, after uninstalling and reboot chkdsk ran and on the first 5% or so of checking the index it found problems then ran thru chkdsk pretty fast until fixing unreadable security description datastreams. windows works absolutely fine no problems whatsoever, then next time i reboot it does the same, this time problems are non-stop until about 10% then fine from there on in, then when it finishes repairing the drive it gets stuck at repairing unreadable security descriptions date stream , says unable to read and boots straight into windows, again windows works fine except a little hanging.

Due to a virus I caught I had to format the windows partition and reinstall all the drivers and stuff. Everything seems to work fine except for the internet. Large Number Of Software Dont Run Under X64?
Nov 25, 2006i got a new machine. I've been looking around and pretty much the only processors being sold are 64bit ones. So i guess i'll be getting a 64bit processor. I've been have been reading around about windows xp x64 and i've picked up that a large amount of software will not run under windows x64. We have some windows xp 32bit disks but should we go for x64?
