On receipt from a known sender i receive *.url in the attachment box and when i click to open, a window appears saying " Windows has found that this file is potentially harmful. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to to this file." I have recently started using Microsoft Anti Spyware Beta version and am wondering whether this is having an effect.

They seem to have received them, at least most people, and there is nothing shown in my Outbox. HOWEVER, I CANNOT SEND ANY EMAILS. I have communicted with my ISP and they confirm that thre is nothing wrong on their end. I have openned and closed Outlook. I have rebooted my computer. I AM SENDING THIS FROM A DIFFERENT Computer. I have checked my settings. I have tried to send items and deleted them. I have tried working offline. Notthng works. I need this computer at work to send emails.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi think outlook express 6 and norton internet security or norton antivirus are incompatible.at least something is wrong. i can't send or receive emails. i contacted cox intenernet service and they had me go through some things but i was only able to send and receive emails that one time. they said it had to do with norton antivirus. but, they could be wrong.i will also contact Symantec.can someone please give me some advice on how to get this back up and running?i will have to keep checking back, because the email doesn't work.

I need help getting my outlook express running correctly. I can''t recieve or send e-mail. errors keep popping up.
When I try to send or receive mail in Outlook Express 6, I get an error message 0x800CCC0D along with socket error 11004. It's telling me the host cannot be found, to check that the server name is entered correctly. This began immediately after I clicked the stop button while I was downloading mail and then clicked on send/receive a minute later. My connection to the internet is fine. I checked all the vital information, POP3, SMTP, my password, everything. I removed all the information from my account and reinstalled it, still the same error!

Whenever I go to my computer/win explorer and try to right click on any item, i get an error in Windows Explorer with the send report and dont send option buttons. Im not able to do many things due to that. and this is not a virus or something I guess because I have a good AV software and I was using my PC throughout till yesterday evening when I shifted it from 1 room to another. View 4 Replies View RelatedThe situation is this, my computer got a trojan that place itself in the registy, so I followed teh instructions to delete those entries or teh registry itself, but I was to tired at the moment and yes I delete registries by accident. Well my questin is, If there's a way to restore those registries that I delete? I was not doing back up of reg, because teh registries were with the Trojan URL Leave blank. so I was deleteing the URL but in the instructions was saying I need to get rid of some registries, so I delete this three , by my big mistake, if theres a way to get those registry back ? can i grab another reg. from teh computer of my roomate, save it in a disk or jumpdrive anf then place them in my reg, and edit teh adress? So far my computer is not acting bad, but those registries I delte, are they going to cause me more grief later?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe files were deleted (and Norton Protected recycle bin emptied) from both the C: (boot drive/OS) and D: drives and when I tried to run System Restore, it gave me an error message, so I assume some of the system files may have been deleted as well. I am not the primary user of this computer and while the computer was functioning after I discovered this, I made the mistake of re-booting the computer and now get a ''NTLDR is missing - press Ctrl + Alt + Delete'' at boot. I have the Sony System recovery discs (no Windows XP disc that I can find) but I don't want to lose any more data and I would still like to try and recover the previously deleted files.

Not only did the SRU not solve the problem, but I could then not use the system restore facility which may have solved the problem . I am able to get onto the internet with exlporer through other programs on my computer, but the main explorer icon is missing from my desktop and startup toolbar on the bottom left of my screen. View 13 Replies View RelatedOut of no where my computer ceases to be able to multi-task. For example. I am playing a game while listening to music. When I hold down a button in the game to walk the music becomes choppy. I have also noticed that when I am using one program something the CPU usage is usually 88-95% usage on the program which makes it impossible to do anything else while using the program. This all started happening about 2 days after I re-installed my OS.
Also system restore doesn't seem to work. It always says "System restore failed: nothing on your hard drive was changed." but I know that the restore point is different from what I have on my computer right now.
I deleted a few items from Start Menu>Programs that I would like to restore. These items are (1) set program access and defaults (2) windows catalog and (3) windows update. I don't know where the .exe files are for me to copy back into the start menu folder or if there is a easier way to restore them.

It has been my experience that, out of the dozen or so Junk e-mails that I receive every day in my Outlook Inbox on my computer, there are usually one or two that are actually not Junk at all, and those I have to identify as "Add Sender to Safe Sender's List" and re-route to my Inbox. It is for this reason that it is very important that all my e-mails are downloaded from the server to my computer - including the ones identified by the software as "Junk" - because the software obviously is not perfect.
