I cannot access files in a certain folder or view them. I accidently moved them to another folder then moved them back. Ever since then i cant do anything with them. Please help. Got some good pictures and mpegs i'd like to view.
View 1 RepliesA folder full of PSD files. I have the folder on thumbnail view so I can easily find a look I wan't and choose it instead of opening up each one. The problem is that the folder is not generating a preview of the file anymore but instead shows the PSD icon. I just got a new computer and it is since then that this has stared, as on my old computer the previews showed up fine. Is this a setting I need to change somewhere?

They are both running Windows XP Pro SP3 and file/print sharing is turned on. Simple file sharing is turned on.Both computers can Ping each other successfully. Both computers can "Net View" each other successfully.Both computers can see the other's shared folders in My Network Places.Computer A can access the shared folders on Computer B and transfer files, etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two burners in my system; one CD-R/W and one DVD-R/W. I usually burn everything on the DVD drive. However, after I burn something and place it back into the DVD drive to view the files, I can't. When I go to My Computer, right click on the DVD drive, I don't have the option to "OPEN". I do have this option on the CD-R/W drive but I'm wondering why I don't have that option on the DVD drive. This seems strange to me that I cannot do an OPEN on the right click with the DVD drive. any suggestions? I'm running WinXP Pro with all the updates, 2GB Ram.

View 1 Replies View Relatedrecently i did a system restore to fix some problems that came up after my siblings used my computer. before the system restore i could play avi files no problem, but afterwards the media player can only play the sound.ive tried several movie players such as divx, windows media player, klite movie player, and vlc. all of them can play the audio but not video.i updated my divx codec and downloaded a new fddshow codec but it didnt work. k-lite codec pack comes with a whole lot of video codecs to play any movie format, but it still doesnt work.

The first is taken from the 'save as' menu from an open word document, and clearly shows the file 'OLKBB' under the temp internet files, as well as the tree structure above it. Explorer2 shows the view, only as seen from Windows Explorer, and obviously that folder (and God Alone knows what else) isn't there. I've got 'show hidden files' unticked, plus 'hide protected os system files' unticked. Still can't figure out why this is.

All of my hard disk drives (except the linux partitions) are NTFS. I encrypted the My Documents folder and all of its files and subfolders.Today I reinstalled XP in the C drive, after a quick format on it. I was unaware of the fact that what might be happened to My Documents folder. Now I can only view the files and folders inside My Documents folder. Neither I open any file, nor I decrypt those files. Windows is saying access denied.

When I click on the Windows Explorer icon, it opens up with the left side being the blue bar with File and Folder Tasks, Other Places and Details showing. I have to manually click on the Folders button at the top to get the view I want. Is there a way to make this Folders view be the default view when I open Windows Explorer?

I then create a restore point.Today, for the first time ever, I needed to restore my computer to a previous date because my XP view changed to Classic view and the option to change it back to XP view wasn't available. But the restore points that I saved were not available. I was given a choice of July 1,2,3,4 and 5. The last time I created a restore point was last Monday, June 27th,but when I clicked on the << arrow to go back to the month of June, it wouldn't go back.What happened to the restore points that I created and why couldn't I access them?I know that they were saved because I received a message that they were created.And I have no idea why my XP view changed to Classic View when I turned my computer on yesterday.
View 31 Replies View RelatedI have recently formatted my computer and reinstalled Windows. I had over 120 Gbs worth of video files I needed to keep, but since I only had about 20 Gbs of free HD space I created a new partition in the free space, put in as many files as would fit in it, expand the partition and repeated the procedure until all of the files were safely in the new partition. I then formatted the primary partition, installed Windows XP SP1 and then updated it fully (so now I have XP Home SP2 with the latest updates). Then I defragmented the C drive, merged the partitions and defragmented again. Now I cannot access (or actually use, since I can see them but I cannot open, move or delete) the files. Whenever I try to open the video files I get a error whichever media player I use (Windows Media Player, Winamp, VLC), and if I try to move or delete any of those files I get an error from Windows telling me to check whether the file is in use, write protected or if the disk is full or that I do not have enough permissions to perform that action. The only way I am able to move or delete those files is using a freeware app called "Unlocker", which reports that there are no programs currently using/locking those files (not even Explorer), but it does allow me to move or delete them (obviously I want to be able to open the files, not get rid of them).
There were other files and folders in the partition that I merged into C: (using Partition Magic) but only the files in the folder that had the movies (as well as some srt, sub and idx subtitle files) are affected by this issue.

To perform a system recovery due to the fact that my computer would load and then only run for about 1 minute before completely freezing up. My problem now us that I am unable to access my old files and every time I try to access them i get the message

I installed WinXP on my desktop. You know the point at USER profile where you are asked whether to make files private or not?
I chose to make files private.
Recently my OS got corrupt and I had to repair it. The CD was not loading well, so I used another copy of WinXP.
The new OS installed by my private files cannot be accessed.
I slaved hard and installed WinXP on another hard as master by still, I cant access the hard.
Trying to open it would tell the folder (user folder) cannot be accessed with that irritating system sound.
