I have a Linksys WMP54GX Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SRX. It worked fine, but now the driver is broken, and I can't uninstall or reinstall it.I need to fully wipe it from my registry, harddrive, et al, in order to do a fresh install. I am somewhat computer literate, but still a bit wary of fiddling with the registry without knowing exactly what I am doing.Thought I should add that the bundled software uninstall doesn't work, nor does the Device Manager's. When I attempt to uninstall from the device manager, I get a message like "failed to uninstall, device may be required to boot". I need a manual removal.
I installed Uniblue Driver Scanner and paid for it on the advice of DivX. It reports 4 outdated drivers supposadly replaced them but upon rescan it reported that they still needed updating. There appears to be no uninstall.
I have serious doubts that reason of appearance of NetBT Error message 4311 in my Error Event Viewer is in connection with Ras Async Adapter .In Device Manager of my XP SP3 , I have yellow exclamation sign on RAS Async Adapter. When try to uninstall this driver ,received :Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer, Seems this diver is in certain way protected by the system.Strange why this happened.Normaly any driver should be free to uninstall and reinstall it, or I am wrong.
I recently upgraded my motherboard but kept my hardrive as is except for changing the drivers provided with my Mb and registering xp again as xp stated that too many changes took place. my mouse not working I uninstall my mouse driver and rebooted xp where it did pick up my mouse but no movement I also tried installing the software provided with the mouse but no luck. I even took another hardrive and installed xp on there the mouse then work fine.
i get this error when i tried to open up my computer, first the windows xp loading screen works fine, then after that the screen just goes black and stays like that forever. this happened when i tried to uninstall a USB Bluetooth driver and it was requested to restart my pc so i did, and after that restart i cant get in no more, the screen just goes black after the windows xp load screen. im wondering how can i fix this problem? please help me guys... thank you.. and o yeah one more thing.. when i tried it on safe mode it went to the welcome screen but after that when i try to move my cursor i didnt move at all then i restart my pc again and the whole thing happens once more
Some USB things work fine- others not at all (but work on other computers.) My XP machine has always worked fine in recognizing USB devices-- but recently did not recognize my scanner and two USB thumb drives (one brand new and one I've had for a couple years). The Thumb drives and scanner work fine on other computers. he same machine uses a USB mouse and a USB connection to my printer (Brother HL-1440). They continue to work fine. I noticed it first with the scanner- It worked fine before New Year-- but not since. Then tried Thumb drives and recognized the same pattern. (Again, they work fine on other computers). Is it possible that Plug-n-Play is broken? With XP the drives are built-in and have always recognized Thumb drives (or external hard drives, etc). I did try uninstalling the driver for the Scanner and installing it again- to no avail.
i am trying the command ipconfig and it wont work. i went to run and typed ipconfig and cmd opened and closed. i opened cmd and typed ipconfig and it said "C:Documents and SettingsJesse>ipconfig'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
For approximately the past two months my background is set to a solid color. Believe me I have searched everywhere and tried just about everything. I cannot change the picture, only the color that I set for icon backgrounds. That sounds kind of confusing but I don't know how else to word it. Anyway, anyone have any ideas on how I can get my background picture back?
I am having the same problem as I read on an earlier post. My desktop background color can be changed, but I am unable to change my desktop to a photo background. I'm running Windows XP Pro on an IBM Thinkpad laptop. I've tried all the obvious solutions, but I can't get any results.
I have replaced my harddrive and do not use my cd writer anymore. It has not worked in 2 years and I save files to the USB memory sticks. Is there a way to make restore "disks" without using cd's?
im using xp sp2 and i downloaded ancanced windows care3 and did a deep registry clean, it found 900 more problems than my noraml registry cleaner(tune-up utilities) so i decided do it. after i rebooted i played a game and my computer just froze still. i now have this persisting freezing that generally when i play a game or watch movies(otherwise it seems to be fine but does happen sometimes while even just idle or looking through files). i really think its my registry.
My laptop (windows XP pro) prompts me on start up to press ctlr+alt+del before it allows me to put my username and password to access windows. Now when i press ctrl-alt-del nothing happens so i cant get to the box to enter my log on details and get into windows... This is what I have tried
1. different ctrl-alt-del methods (only one del button so i am assuming that del is broken) 2. plugged in USB keyboard but it wont work (there are no PS2 ports on laptop to use either). I am guessing since windows isnt initiated then USB ports wont respond 4. booting in Safe mode doesnt bypass the ctrl-alt-del screen 5. tried installing a new laptop keyboard but too difficult to get out 6. tried XP recovery but i cant press numbers to select 1:Windows XP so im guessin the number keys dont work either
My current DVD player, Roxio DVDMax Player, is broken, and I'm looking for a cheap or free DVD player so I can see if its a hardware problem, or Roxio before I buy a good replacement. So anyone have any ideas on free/cheap DVD players, or a full Player.
last night I was looking for a solution to get rid of the iexplore.exe process. It was taking up 100k ram and was lagging my pc so I thought it must have been a virus. As you may know if you try to end the prcoess it just keeps re opening. So I went looking on google for a solution and I came to another forum. This guy had the exact same problem I had and someone posted the solution. It all seemed quite technical so I thought the guy knew what he was up to.
The USB port on my Laptop has been broken by accident and I would like to know whether it is possible to replace it somehow, by myself. If not, could you please suggest me how it would be possible to have a USB port on my laptop.
I'm Running WIN XP SP2, and my java is broken.to help explain how it is broken, i am having problems loading and running core windows parts, such as the Windows Search Bar, it just apears Black, solid black. i can't read the Version information in Internet Explorer (not like it matters, FIREFOX is the Way to Be), and some Local Content won't run, and i think that i opened windows help like 10 minutes ago, and i don't see it on my task bar.i find that web java works pretty well, and LIMEWIRE works fine, and that is a full java 2 based program. i have Sun Microsystems JRE 5 installed, if you need anymore info, let me no, i have a program that i want to activate, but i can't because i can't see the info on the page because it is java based.i do have System Restore on.
The sound on my computer is broken, any time I try playing music it says "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly" No sound is coming from the speakers, all I ever hear is a beeping noise from the computer its self when, for example I try typing before I've clicked the page.I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime and it didn't work.
I have just tried to restore my laptop to factory settings using the recovery DVD. however part way through this process my DVD drive has broken and now I cannot boot from the DVD and windows will not start as it did prior to this (I am posting this from a friends computer)
WinXP Home with SP2, after removing a bunch of spyware the search feature in Windows no longer works. It says the files are missing or something along those lines.
I have a windows XP box with SP 3. Once booted into Windows I immediately start getting Windows Installer trying to install something. Clearly there is a failed installation in there that windows installer keeps trying to install but can't. When try to intall something new I get the "This happens with windows in running in safe mode or windows installer is installed incorrectly" message. I tried installing windows installer 3.1, but it tells me it is already installed and quits. I tried installing the Windows Intaller Cleanup program that RProffit linked to, but then I get the windows installer is broken message and it can't install. Seems like I am in for a reformat and reload?
Any compiled HTML Help files (.chm) I try to open I get "The page cannot be displayed".The Contents/Search tabs work fine but anything I click on get the "The page cannot be displayed". page.

Sometimes my sound is ok , but somtimes my sound sounds really bad , even the normal "click" sound of opening a folder or closing a file sound like a broken spring , like a sound in slow motion twauonnnng and the music just very laggy and cant understand the lirics or even the music itself Now this is reflecting in the performance of my computer , its appears to in my games , suddenly the sounds of my steps or my sword swing or the shot of my gun , starts sounding as mentioned above in slow motion.
I have a laptop that I just got my hands on, it's a Dell Inspiron 8200, has windows XP Pro (service pack 2) on it. I need to reformat it, however, the cd drive doesnt really work anymore (this is the second cd drive its had). I would rather not spend money on a cd drive or anything, and was wondering if there was anyway to use a boot disk to format it, then if there was any way to install network drivers and use a network to install windows. That at least is my present theory of how to go about this, but I'm not sure if it's even possible, and I'm searching around online right now.
I keep getting warning messages, in a normal warning dialog box, with the title "Messenger Service", saying (usually, although sometimes something similar):
"Message from SYSTEM to ALERT on [precise date and time]
