Apr 15, 2005my startup/msconfig are blank and i cant figure out what they are. I noticed a lot use hijack this so here it is.. Maybe you can figure it out

Blank Menu Bar In Explorer And Blank Performance Tab
Nov 10, 2008After a few days of work, the user cannot open new windows explorer or other application windows. Nothing happens if she tries to. If she closes one window, then she's able to open a new one. The "allowed" number of opened windows varies from time to time, sometimes being as low as 4, but sometimes around 10 to 12. The performance tab in the task manager is completely blank (see screenshot). Some Windows explorer menu bars sometimes are blank, and a windows logo appear instead of the menus (see screenshots).
Rebooting fixes the problem, but it comes back a few days later. The laptop is part of a domain, running generally the same applications as other desktops and laptops in the domain, running the same antivirus, etc. The virus definitions are up to date, and a full scan has been run. Even stranger is the fact that when it happens, Windows XP doesn't even seem to be unstable, nor does it crash in any way. Just seems as if there was a limit on the number of processes or handles or threads allowed to run.
Laptop: IBM Lenovo Thinkpad (model 63716NF)
CPU: Core 2 @ 1,8Ghz
RAM: 2 gb
OS: Windows XP sp3.
Swap file: initially set to 2046 mb and max is set at 4092 mb
Processor scheduling and Memory usage are both set to "Programs"
I have been searching the web for solutions but cannot find any forum post describing the same problem. Thank you for any help.

CD-RW Drive Asks For Blank Cd When Blank Cd Is Already There
Jul 29, 2005tried to back up("burn" ) some files onto a cd but it is not recognizing when
I put a blank cd in the drive. Also, in properties it shows that the drive
is full...this is with the blank cd!

Apr 3, 2007I have hp compaq nc6320 laptop recently bought. It was working absolutely fine until the day before yesterday. However, yesterday one of my friends brought his flash drive and I copied some of the documents since then I am having a big trouble. I need experts help please. * Can't run msconfig, cmd, regedit ect, however, explorer can run
* tried to download antivirus software it did not let me do, I had one thought was not good enough and
uninstall it, later on I could not install the other one too. My pc is now without antivirus.
*when I use IE 7 search engine as google.co.uk it crashes meaning it opens the pages about the search title however it closes before I could get the access to them
*I used online scanning facilities for if there are virus in my laptop, it showed me worm.vb.dj

Msconfig - Safeboot - Now Won't Start
Dec 23, 2005Have XP, service pack 2, and all updates. Use Norton, MS Antispyware, Adaware, Spybot, and weekly check with online virus check programs. Machine is clean (I hope). Have 2 user accounts on the machine. Had email issues with the ISP and got resovled/ I could open Outlook Express from my user account, but then my wife's user account wouldn't open Outlook Express at all. Thought I would try in Safe Mode to see if maybe some other program was interfering. NOTE: I did no harware or software change. Went to msconfig, and clicked on Safeboot.

Sep 29, 2007Title says it all. Not sure when it actually disappeared. Noticed it while studying for A+ exam today. Here is what I have tried that hasn't worked:
(1) Missing BOOT.INI file. It is there.
(2) Registry corruption. Nope. The entry doesn't appear in the expected location.
(3) Improper permissions set on BOOT.INI. Nope. I can open it. Plus there is no Security tab in the Properties window, which raises another eyebrow of "huh?"
