I have a startup folder on my desktop with nothing in it but windows won't let me remove. Is it that necessary to have this empty folder adding clutter to my desktop? I know the folder has something to do with allowing programs to run when windows starts up but there is nothing it.

It stays on the screen anywhere from a couple to as many as ten seconds. Then it disappears. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems but it's just a pain. I?m running Windows XP SP2. I have used Spybot, McAfee stinger, Ewido,AVG, Xsoft spy,Cclearer, Norton and possibly every othe rproduct on the market to remove adware/malware but to no avail.
I am having this new cursor and I don't know where and what program initiated it and how to remove it. I am including a picture that outlines the cursor. What is it and where did it come from? I must disable it. It is SERIOUSLY hindering my performance with quick copy paste as the cursor is now offset from my old one so I always grab too far to the left.

When booting fresh, the desktop background picture will display; however, as boot process proceeds, the screen turns completely white. Can someone help me to get rid of this off my pc because it is getting annoying.The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.Although all I have to do is click on the close link and it clears off the screen this is getting annoying every time I close out a program.

The expected Registry value was not found."I have no idea what to do.. I read on one forum that the guy had to basically clean off his hard drive and re install it! I REALLY don't want to have to go through that.. especially since I'm a college student, and finals are coming up.. the last thing I need is to be without my own computer. I tried to move it back; but, Widows gave me an error box that said it was a System folder and could not be moved. I tried renaming it, deleting it, nothing worked. I made a new Startup folder (like a dummy) and then used an OS that boots from a CD to delete it.

I'm just closeing the folder and moving on.I have made no changes that would cause this, and can find no way to turn it off.Any suggestions? View 8 Replies View RelatedMy bothers new computer (two months old) is doing something strange. Every time it boots up, loads windows The C:Program Filesintel directory pops up on the screen. He has an intel Motherboard, and Pentium 4 3.0. I checked first the startup folder, nothing there that I could see would access that folded. I then ran msconfig just to see if anything else was showing that directory. Still nothing. Then I download some startup manager from download.com (I cant remember the exact name of it) but it showed me the same thing I had seen before, and nothing that pointed to the Intel directory. (Some pointed to the intel Audio directory, but that directory exists).I do know after I ran msconfig I went into safe mode and the directory didnt start up. But when I booted back into Windows XP Pro again it showed up?Anybody know what else I can do? I wonder if I change the name of the directory, wouldnt that throw an error and maybe I can figure out what it trying to access it?

I would like to check to see what programs automatically open in the background when I boot and perhaps relocate or get rid of some of those. I suspect that this particular question has a simple answer. View 10 Replies View Relatedi'll start from the beginning. Today i accidentally clicked a random add and managed to get AV security suite downloaded into my comp, Very annoying program. So it blocked me out of all my settings and did the normal thing rogue spy-wares do. So i restarted and quickly ran msconfig and went into safe mode. I don't really know much about safe mode so i opted to do a system restore. I did it for 5 days ago, the 22nd and when i restarted. I had no audio device recognized and explorer wont stop crashing. As im typing this explorer has perma crashed and im deathly afraid of what i should do. Please help :[ I really depend on this comp for a lot of stuff and would hate to have something so stupid as a spy-ware destroy it.

The folder and files within are not malware or anything, just some little games that came with my computer that I never got rid of. It is not in my startup folder. I have never run any of the games and don't even remember opening that folder before this started happening.
