View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP. I update my Virus Subscription in January every year and this year Norton said they no longer support the one I was using. I updated to the latest version and it included Pop up blocking and a bunch of other stuff. When it ran the scan it came up with a bunch of things and I diligently followed all the instructions to take care of them. (I don't know if this has ANYTHING to do with my problem but from some of the other posts I thought it might.) To make a long story short, I tried to update to Windows Media Player 10 to interface an MP3 player my daughter wanted to use. When I did this I got the following message. 'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004). Click on OK to terminate application.' After 2 days of trying to figure out what is causing this, I reverted back to the previous version I had and was grateful I got it back. Now, a few months later, I am working on something for my job and I go to install the software I need and the same message appears! So, I need some help. I am somewhat tech savvy but I haven't read code since learning Fortran in college 20 years ago!
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have been having this issue with a program crashing and displaying a error message. Also just a note, This problem is happening on a windows xp pro machine. When the icon to start the application is clicked the program automatically displays the error. So I never actually get into the application. The error message reads "application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000005" (0xc0000005 means an access violation memory error occurred)
Now this is odd because the program works on other computers(of all different types)amd64, amd64x2, Intel core2duo, Intel celeron D, and a regular Intel P4 board. All with various different rams and such, leading me to assume this is not a hardware problem. I have tried to use the built in program error debugger in windows "Dr. Watson" to get a error log. but for some reason the program does write to the file.
When I boot up my pc. I get a "WinLogon.exe" ERROR. I did a search on it and I read that one should only be concerened. if that file is located anywhere else other than in your C:WINDOWSsystem32. So i did a Search on the pc, and it was the only location it found.
One other weird thing.I was running a 'Ad-aware SE Personal' scan, and immediately it detects" Modules Identified "and then that "WinLogon.exe" ERROR appears...and then (I guess its called my 'theme') changes to something totally different, then the pc
I'm experiencing some problems with a PC running Windows XP. Recently went through several steps to remove spyware & viruses from the PC. Following error on startup:
Windows cannot find c:windowsinetmwinlogon.exe
The other problem I'm seeing is that I have no desktop icons, and when I try to create a file or shortcut on the desktop, nothing happens. I can right-click/new, but it doesn't appear.
My computer keeps restarting and i keep getting the winlogon.exe error.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy computer has been catching a lot of viruses, mosty trojans, and I just got McAfee re-subribed but everytime I start my computer it gets to just before the logon screen and an error occurs. It says "The Instruction at "0x100096b0" referenced memory at 0x01568000". The memory could not be read." It gives me two choices either to press ok or cancel. Either way the computer screen turns black and a minute later it appears at another black screen telling me that something failed and to shut down the computer. I have tried opening up in safe mode and running McAfee, AVG, Spyware Doctor, and Registry Mechanic.

I've worked for 2 days on this problem off and on and found no working solution yet. To make it short and sweet, if I right-click on any folders or on the hard drive icons in My Computer explorer.exe freezes. I have a program called HDDLife Pro (trial version) that says my hard disks are at 53% and 85%. The program measures the current tempurature and how much life is left on your hard disks. There are no tale-tell signs of a failing disk either.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn my pc and windows loads up an error message appears saying that windows service pack 2 setup has encountered an error and has to close. However when I close the error message it keeps popping up every 20 seconds or so. When I went to microsofts website that told me that service pack 2 was installed on my pc.
