So recently I got a new monitor assuming that something is wrong with my old one. But the same problem occurs, my monitor still goes blank! Well, ever since I switched my video card (same time I got my old monitor) I was experiencing that problem. People at the store are no help at all since they are so clueless!
So I came to this conclusion, its either my video card that's experiencing problems or my mother board is getting out dated or whatsoever. (I got it back in 2003 and its Pentium 4 hyper-threading) My current mother board doesn't have a monitor slot on the pentium, only has a slot where the video card is. I don't think that could be a problem because when I had my old video card,
i recently have done a reinstall of windows xp but the system cannot seem to be able to find the systems video card drivers and i have checked on the properties under adapters and the whole list says n/a so i have no way of find out what drivers i need to download. I have an emachines 5250 if that is any use.
This may seem like a noob question but i was wondering if i will need to replace windows if i get i new motherboard. My computer is a HP workstation and it came with windows XP professional.
since i already have it on my hard drive will it just not boot with a different motherboard?
i just installed a new msi g31 board along with intel processor. after installation i tried powering off computer but the os shuts down leaving the board still powered up with cpu fan and other case fan still running. The mother board of my hp laptop died. I have another laptop (Dell). Any ideas how I can transfer the data on the hard disk of the old hp to the new Dell?
channges i have made before the problem occurs: > installed VISTA INSPIRAT2 > system worked for 1 day > system stopping at the startup process "windows is starting" > mother board is not deetecting > but motherboard is working with another PC. > i cant able to press F2 or F8 bcz M.B is not detecting > so,i have used PS/2 to USB converter and connected M.B to USB port , M.B detected but not working with my computer, but working with any other computer.
I have a compaq computer and have a problem with the restore cd from compaq. I needed to reformat the hard drive because of some crup files. When I put the restore cd in the computer is says the cd's are not for this compaq. I taked to compaq and gave them all the information they ask for and was told that I had the correct cd and it must be a bad cd set. They had me order a new set of cd's from there online store which I did with the part number they gave me after I double checked the number to see if they were correct and I got them in yesterday and still had the same problem. I talked to hp again last night and was told that the mother board most likely needed to be tatoo to match the cd's. I was told to take it to one of there repair stores to have this done. Never heard of a mother board changing it's self.
I want to unplug everything from the existing mother board, remove it, and slide in a new mother board, reconnect everything, boot from the Win XP CD, do a repair and take off running without having to re-install all the application programs. Will this work, or do I have do do a completely new install of XP and reinstall all the applications
I just had to replace the mother board on my computer Its a Asus P4PE motherboard After replacing the motherboard, I just hooked up the hard drive I was using and the computer did come back up. The new motherboard is another P4PE warranty replacement board from Asus.
The computer is working but I can't get sound or USB services The computer doesn't even seem to know that sound hardware exists on this new motherboard for some reason... The USB, I have no idea why its not working other then the fact I can't get my USB printer or camera to work... Do I have to "Reload" XP? I don't want to loose what's on my hard drive... What should I do to get this right??? In all the years I've had computers I've never had a motherboard die before so I'm not sure how to proceed!!!
I reformated my pc yesterday and i got windows installed again, but i cant get online ...wen my pc starts it says Ethernet controller found, but wen it searches the pc for it it cant find it..so i cant get online ...can someone help me on what i have to download to make it work.. i have a Gigabyte p35c-ds3r mother board, and a intel(r)core(tm)2 duo cpu e6850 proccessor..please someone help it sux without internt

I've formated and installed windows XP sp3, there are 2 lan cards on my motherboard, one for internet cable, the other is attached to a hub for networking. After installing windows XP, only one card is working when I disable the other, I need to make both cards work simultaneously.
I just bought a new graphics card and i would like to disable my old on-board one and i was told you can do it in BIOS. I have never done anything in BIOS and i don't want to shut off something i need thinking it was the card. I need to know what the card i would be called so i can shut it off.
I have done a system restore as I lost sound to my dvd etc after a TV card was installed. The system is now "unstable" (?). I notice on the invoice it says disabled on board video memory. What is it and should I have been doing it after system restore?

Recently I was playing a game, when my screen froze. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
I hooked up my Xbox to my PC to play online using my monitor, only to find out that my NVidia Geforce4 Ti 4200 can only display a max resolution of 720x480 through my capture software, and this ain't good enough for me. Does somebody know of any specific card/adapter TV Tuner that has an S Video input and could give me resolution over 1024 pixels under $100.
As a result of installing a game (Fear) ...i now have major graphic issues across windows, the game installed fine, but went belly up threw the into movie (graphically)......I've uninstalled the game, uninstalled my Ati drivers (XTreme-G WarCat Drivers for ATi) along with Catalyst and the corruption is still there after numerous reboots - have I broken my graphics card??? ....the corruption is everywhere, it comes and goes in all windows..... you can even swirl it around with you're mouse! I haven't installed the drivers again just incase a reformat is needed - would that do the trick?? ......the game installed DX9c august during setup.... but then I patched the game with the latest game update - maybe the conflict is there ...
When I type on key board number 6 key is not working. If I touch any key I see lot of number 6's typing automatically. This is my laptop. I connected a USB key board. It is working. I still have the problem whenever I try to type something.
I was working away on my desktop tonight, and suddenly the monitor started freaking out. Here is a video to show you what's going on at startup, When it happened I was working in Cubase. I'd just reset the audio driver, and it started doing like in the video. After a little bit, the signal cuts out completely. It's not the monitor, I've checked with a spare and it's the same. I don't have another video card around at the moment, but I'm wondering if it's likely to be an issue with the hardware, or software/virus type stuff. The computer is XP, 2gb ram, nVidia Geforce card (sorry, can't recall which one) etc. Incidentally the card itself looks fine, ie it doesn't look like it's shorted or anything.
After hardware upgrades, my custom XP Professional audio workstation will not allow me to re-install my Digigram VX-442 audio card driver or on-board audio.
Error message is: Cannot install this hardware. The data is invalid.
