View 4 Replies View RelatedI get a little pop-up message you know. install latest windows xp updates so i'm like. OK i'l just get this over and done with. I turn the computer off let windows do it's thing, turn it back on now I'm getting dots on the screen. They look like little droplets and most of the time they're blue. i get to the windows xp log-in screen now this is the "fun" (annoying/main part). WHENEVER I move my mouse cursor over the account tabs the computer just freeze's then the screen goes black, doesn't do anything after that. So I gave my friend a call who's a computer technician, he said that my video card is blown and that I will have to get a new one. My heart just dropped out of my but there for about 5 minutes. I gave my brother a call and he thinks otherwise. He said to do a system restore but this is another "fun" (annoying/main part). I'm trying to do a system restore on the PC (in safe mode) and it doesn't want to seem to work. First of all there are NO bold dates to choose from which is very strange as I applied a Windows XP update shortly before I did this update that screwed the PC up. And nothing came up, and another even f'd up thing is that I can' choose what months to go from. That little arrow that let's go go to previous months and months after? Click that, doesn't do anything. So I gotta wait for my bro to come back from Canberra for the meantime which should be i n around a weeks time or so. But ugh I can't wait that long i'm gonna die of boredom here. So I am begging all.. of you. from the bottom of my heart, is there ANYTHING absolutely ANYTHING I could do to FIX this? I'm so close to throwing this thing out the window Badluck seems to be coming from all sides at me lately and I really can't put up with this.

I recently had to reformat my PC and now I need to reinstall my video card and sound card drivers. The only problem is, I don't have the driver CD anymore. when I try to find out what my video/sound cards are I draw a blank because they don't seem to be displayed anywhere (display properties/settings/advanced/adapter). All adapter type and adapter information are all I know my video card is ATI but that's all I know and as for the sound card - I haven't a clue what make that is. I've been on the ATI website but there are so many drivers I don't know which one to download/install.

OS Windows XP-1 upgraded to XP-2.
Lost my video driver, on my older HP 951 computer.
It came with XP-1, I upgraded a long time ago.
I tried to recover with both the XP-1 & XP-2 disks, won't work.
I have net access, obviously on a newer computer.
Is there a way I can download a driver and install it on my 951, OR recover the driver, that must be there?
It boots up, but after showing the Windows "Logo Screen", it's black. I just have some old info. and files on it, I really would like to keep.

(Ick) I don't say that from a very valid standpoint, for I just find XP much lighter and easier to navigate. Like I'm running the computer, not the other way around. Well, I used the Vista installed partitioner to segregate a little chunk of my hard drive so that I could put XP onto the computer as well as Vista. While this was successful, I'm having a miserable time trying to find a driver for this video card. I've tried installing the Vista version, but it starts screaming that I'm retarded and that it's only for Vista (naturally). I know most of the drivers that were used in the Vista format work for XP as well.

I have updated video (SIS Mirage driver) No errors shown in device manager.
I want to update my video card drivers because my video card is acting up and I want to see if new drivers will fix it.I printed out the instructions from ATI's site and followed it exactly. I used Add/Remove Programs and clicked on the ATI Software Uninstall Utility. I rebooted the computer. I went into Safe Mode. I tried to install the drivers.Upon doing this, every time I run the setup to install the new drivers, I get this error message:"INF Error: Video Driver Not Found" This happens if I try to install the latest Catalyst version. This happens if I try to install an older Catalyst version. This even happens if I try to reinstall the drivers that I just had (it installed fine before so why is the 5.11s giving me that error now)!

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy video card has just flat disappeared. For the record I'm running a generic pc rebuild with a new mother board, Athelon 2400,a Radeon 9600 video card,WXP Home (vers 2002,includes servpack2). It's been working fine for several years.I installed the new WXP ,replacing the embedded one that came with my pc. I went to Windows Update and downloaded everything they said I needed. I began to have a problem with a video game so I went to the source (ATI)and downloaded new drivers for my card,(3 years old.) But install failed, giving me"Try to set up your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.". Then I discovered I couldn't find my card anywhere. Display manager doesn't list a Display Adapter. "Settings/ Adapter" says unavailable for each item, and properties says "unknown", but it's working properly. Properties/Hardware does not list it. Somewhere in there Troubleshooter ended up saying "null" straight across the board but I dont know where it was. Belarc even says "none detected".I cant restore to an earlier point because there isn't one. And the kicker is, I dont have the cd's for the video card.
I found a very similar problem in the archives from 2004 that said XP install's it's own drivers (checked add/remove and yeah, their gone) but it also said un-install the display adapter in device manager, but, it isn't there. The card is working, obviously, but not to the level it should be. I remember somebody once saying "when you start having trouble, think about what your last download was." Mine was all those updates from windows. I didn't include the Belarc info cuz I'm long-winded & ran out of room.
I've got an NEC LCD2010X monitor, and everytime I download the latest update from MS for either the NVIDA or Matrox Video cards I always find the drivers

I did an XP update and installed all the Windows updates. Now I cannot install my Radeon SE-DT graphics drivers. I'm using LiveOne Care for security.I'd lime to know if the motherboard chipset drivers can be updated from within Windows without doing the floppy disk boot.
I'm running graphics on the VGA save mode and it is goofy scrolling down a screen watching the waves as the data clunks in. Can anyone suggest an easy install? ATI Radeon has been no help so far. By the way, Device Manager shows no video display components from which verify or update drivers.
