Unable To Uninstall Spyware Programs From The System?
Jul 8, 2008
I am having terrible time getting rid of things on my computer.I have windows XP home, and have the following spyware and virus protection programs: Avira Antivir Personal, Comodo Firewall Pro, Spybot Search & Destroy The first time I ran them they picked a up a little here and there. But its very obvious the spyware is still there.
Every program I attempt to uninstall gives me an error message, the most common being "Cannot open install.log" Obviously something has gone wrong - what to do? Running XP
I have a problem with my Installshield engine, and so I am unable to install/uninstall programs. I am running Windows XP home on a pentium IV, 2.4 GHZ with 512 ram. I think the problem started when I was installing a program called eBay Blackthorne from a download. Now, any install/uninstall is affected. The error is "Internal error # 2738".
"SpywareStrike v2.5" is an annoying spyware that I cannot remove so I come to you good fellas for some assistance. This thing is sooooooo annoying I tried uninstalling it but it keeps coming back. I got Spybot and everything and tried running it at system startup but still no luck.
we had to remove Visual Studio 2005...when uninstalling VS it tells you to unistall portions in order...we did that and now nothing is listed in Add/Remove Programs relating to VS at all...however, in the start menu there is MS SQL Server 2005 configuration tools...when you reboot windows xp you get an error saying SQL Server could not start...well, we don't want SQL Server 2005 on there and are trying to remove it but it is not listed in Add/Remove at all...can't find anything relating to this at all.how do we remove SQL Server 2005 configuration tools?
I am experiencing a strange problem when attempting to uninstall programs from Control Panel --> Add / Remove programs. When I attempt to uninstall a program, the corresponding programs "uninstaller", asks for a network resource. Here is an example screen shot of what I am seeing when I attempt to uninstall Ad Aware: It doesn't seem to matter what I am attempting to uninstall. In all of the uninstall scenarios that I have seen Add / Remove programs asks for an MSI file with a similar name to the program that I am attempting to uninstall.
I built my self a pretty fast PC. AMD3800X2 2 gig memory and so on.I want to run two spyware programs at a time. Counter spy and Spyware doctor.I like both. Will this cause any problems with either programs.I know I will take a small hit on resources but I can handle it. Would recommend running one in the background at a time and using the other just for a scan?
i have a computer that's being hounded by spyware. everyonce in a while on bootup a folder called ISTsvc will popup. i've run AdAware, Spybot, Spyware blaster, Shredder, AboutBuster, CCleaner and FxIstbar. i've run these in safe mode too. they've removed a bunch of bugs, but when i reboot the problem surfaces again. i have mcafee virus scan and a firewall. So, i'm kind of out of ideas. Also, my little windows update (which i've told to notify me only of updates) says its downloading but it hangs at 0% and it WONT CLOSE. so can someone take a look at this hijack this log and throw me a bone.
I've used multiple spyware programs to get of it and I just can't get it off.I'm visited many sites which got me to this one. I was viewing a thread here with no luck.I think this is the thread here: http://forums.techguy.org/security/5...-problems.html.Well from what I know I should include my HJT log for anyone that can help. I currenty have superantispyware and spyware doctor both showing no viruses on computer however I have a blinking icon on the bottom right corner of the screen and a very very slow computer.
I'm posting this for someone just starting out with their 1st computer. There were 2 virus scanners installed Norton and Mc Afee I tried un-installing Mc Afee but the full thing won't uninstall and the Norton is corrupt the only thing you can do is run the liveupdate when you click on 'scan for viruses' you just see the outer edges but not the whole dialog box (tried uninstalling but can't remove all the components as well.
Everytime I open a spyware or adware removal program it will just exit on it's own. Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and even the spyware removal tool on System Mechanic 4
I've got three or four spyware killing programs on this hunk of junk and none of them will recognize and kill Aurora. If anyone knows how I can do it, please let me know.
Every time I try to open my Itunes, I receive this error "Another installation is already in progress.Complete that installation before proceeding with this install." I think there is an install or unintall on hold or something. I feel like I have exhausted all of my options.
I am trying to clean up a pc I bought online. How can you Uninstall certain programs when I don't have the original CD's? I tried usind MS Add/Remove Programs to no avail. Are there some Shareware programs out there that would do the job?
I have an NEC laptop with Windows XP. I ran C-cleaner today and under the 'Tools' section, found in the 'Uninstall' section several strange programs that I have never installed. I don't know whether to remove them or leave them as they are. I've had the experience of deleting some mystery programs off my old computer and then finding that something or other couldn't run, so I'm deathly afraid that the same thing will happen on my laptop. I'll list out my NEC laptop mystery program names here.
what these programs are and whether to uninstall or leave them? Here they are:
1. AppCore 2. AV 3. ccCommon 4. CP2101 USB to UART Bridge Controller 5. Internet Worm Protection (could this be part of the trial version of Norton Antivirus on my comouter?) 6. SPBBC 32bit 7. SymNet
Also, I've checked other forums that say the following programs (which I didn't install but are on my Programs to Remove list in CCleaner) are harmless, but I just want to make sure they really are. Here is the list: 1. CameraDrivers 2. Director 3. QFolder 4. SkinsHP1 5. SkinsHP2 6. TIxx21/x515 7. TrayApp 8. Unload 9. WebFldrs XP 10. WebReg
Like the title says, when I run Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, some of the apps have a Change/Remove button, but some (including some I really want to uninstall) have no such button. It just has a date and says how often I use the app.
Im trying to make my computer faster. its so slow. Im trying to delete some programs I dont need. Do I need "bigfix" Im not sure what it even is though Also I wanted to delete this program I downloaded called Colorcoded... it takes up 20.18mb.. but when i go to add or remove programs it says-":\programfilescodedcolorunins000.dat does not exist. Cannot uninstall.? And should i delete microsoft money. it takes up 130.00mb.. and ive never used it?
I've loaded Norton Antivirus on my friends Dell computer and now it runs so slowly the computer is unusable. I've subsequently heard that this can be a problem and that trying to uninstall NAV using the uninstall programme is not very effective.
This tweak lets you uninstall Windows Components such as MSN Explorer and programs in the Accessories menu on the All Programs menu.1. Edit the hidden system file SYSOC.INF in the Windows/Inf folder.2. Delete all instances of the word HIDE. Don't put any spaces in between the commas.3. Save your changes.4. Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.5. Click on Add/Remove Windows Components. You will now see options for Accessories and Utilities, MSN Explorer and several other components.6. Un check the tick box to remove that component or check it to install it from your XP CD.Be careful what components you remove though.
A couple of my programmes have stopped working recently (AVG and itunes are some of them). I removed them and tried to install them again only to find out that installation had failed. My friend said it is to do with my registry. Anyway this is the error report I get when I try to load itunes.error signature AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 7.1.0.59 ModName: quicktime.qts ModVer: 7.1.5.120 Offset: 00104b0d
My computer recently got infested with spyware. I managed to get rid of most of it with adaware and spybot but one remains. Spybot recognised it as 'command service' but will not delete it due to it being used by memory. All this thing does is slow down my computer when connected to the internet by opening heaps of Norton Anti virus email scans. How on earth do I get rid of this?
I have attached my log from AdAware showing the files that I can't delete. Also, here is my HiJack Log. Computer is acting weird, the taskbar will not hold it's settings (keeps turning off the quick launch) and occasionally the screen will just show the background, not files and I have to restart the computer.
I believe I got rid of paytime.exe and secure32. However, I still have that desktop, and i cant change it. Also when I start my Internet explorer It used to give a link to spy sherrif, now it just doesnt do anything. I've tried everything I could. I dont know what to do
I need help to uninstall Microsoft Net Framework 1.1 hotfix, (KB886904) please. I have WXP Pro SP2. When I try to uninstall the hotfix from add/rem. I get "The upgrade patch cannot be installed because program to be upgraded may be missing" . I have installed 'Windows install cleanup', and when I open it the hotfix is not listed. Prior to the hotfix being installed on my computer by Windows update, I had Microsoft Net Framework 1.1 listed twice in add/rem, but when I tried to uninstall it,it came up that it was not installed so it could not be uninstalled. I got rid of it with a 3rd party uninstaller. I have also Net Framework 2.0 installed by Windows Update. Windows update also tried to reinstall Net Framework 1.1 but failed. So I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to get rid of the hotfix.
Having heaps of problems, picked up virus nothing worked , so reinstalled windows xp home sp2 , now i have 2 boot sectors, how do i uninstall second installation saftly . Allready tried unistalling from add remove in control panel , but its not listed there. Then tried to remove from the hidden $NTServicePackUninstall$spuninstspuninst.exe , but nothing happened It came back and said the file can not be found. Im realy at a loss ,
I'm sure I am overlooking something obvious, but numerous recent problems with my system seem to be (hopefully) tied to the same source.I just don't know what it is.I am running windows XP home, service pack one (I have recently reverted back from SP2 thinking it may be the cause of the problems) 1) Any and all telnet type programs refusing to connect to any host (telnet, zmud, gmud, etc) In the case of zmud I can observe that my computer is in no way interfacing with another machine. telnet error is 'unable to contact host machine' 2) Windows media player (version 10) is unable to retrieve album info. Instead I immediately get a standard IE 'page cannot be displayed' screen. 3) Unable to register for many programs such as Gracenote. In the case of gracenote I recieve a 'socket open failed' error message.I am not currently running any firewall. I only hae a 56k internet connection, so the instantaneous negative connection responses many of my programs display make it fairly obvious that this is a problem with my machine. I hope it is some silly xp setting I need to change.
Had problem for last week, installing and uninstalling any software.... ended up resorting to fresh win 2000 installation on fresh, newly formatted hard drive and still have same problems..I have only service pack 1 on my win 2000, and on trying to download SP4, it downloads, then stops on 'extracting files' says extraction failed, the system cannot find the file specified, and i have the same problem with any program or updates i try to download, which doesnt help me solve my problem.
Basically, i cannot install/uninstall anything, plus, i use Norton internet security, and for some reason, the liveupdate isn't working.... i get message saying failed to launch liveupdate, its not the only thing that has suddenly stopped working... Like i said, this is all a fresh installation on new hard drive, only 2 days ago, and these were same problems i had before this new installation? i cant understand how they're still there!!
I don't know where to put this topic. But alright so basically yesterday I started having this problem. When I go to anything that uses Java such as Geocities my computer starts making a chugging noise and the browser (IE or Firefox) crashes. It brings up one of those senseless error messages about something failing. I'd look now but it'd close this screen. I tried uninstalling Java but when I try uninstalling the JS2E Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 5 it won't let me uninstall either. It makes the same noise and freezes up the window. What in the hell do I do? I've never had a problem quite like this.
I keep getting a message that says unable to uninstall when I am in add or remove program. It says "could not open instal.log file". I am totally confused. I recently had to do a system restore (lost my CD burner??) so I could get it back. That is working fine now, but now this problem.
I have an Intel Network card in a fairly modern computer running Windows XP SP1. Unitil I uninstalled a VPN client I have had no trouble with it. However, after the uninstall, Win XP displays a yellow icon with an exclamation mark for the network card in the device manager and the info says "Code 31 Could not load the drivers for this device".I have tried uninstalling the network adapter (in order to be able to re-install it) but Win XP tells me that it "Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer".I have also tried upgrading the drivers for the adapter but the problem prevails. My guess is that the registry somewhere links my network card with a virtual driver that the VPN client used.
