I installed Adobe Acrobat about 2-3 weeks ago as part of a CreativeSuite package. I have yet to use it. However, just last night, when I tried to open a folder full of pictures on my desktop, for some reason, it attempted to install Adobe Acrobat. I cancelled the installation (acrobat was already installed) and the folder opened. I've tried some experiments now and it seems like every time I try to open a REGULAR FOLDER or a COMPRESSED FOLDER (ARCHIVE) ... ON MY DESKTOP ONLY, my computer attempts to install adobe acrobat. When I hit cancel the folder finally opens. I haven't waited to see what would happen if I let the computer install it cause I just spent hours cleaning my hard drive so my windows installation is sparkling and I don't want to mess that up w/ 2 copies of acrobat.
It necessary to remove Acrobat Reader in order to install an update. As part of the manual removal I was to remove three files at the cmd level. They will not remove at any level. All I get is Access denied. I am doing this with administrator privileges. How do I get these three files removed? They are .dll in the ActiveX directory.

I've never had a problem viewing videos on Firefox but now I'm told I need to install Adobe Flash Player - but I'm unable to.I did a system search for AFP but nothing shows up. Does this mean I don't have it on my computer? How could I see videos before this past week but can't now? I have no problems with IE, which I use occasionally but Firefox is my favorite.

I don't know where to put this topic. But alright so basically yesterday I started having this problem. When I go to anything that uses Java such as Geocities my computer starts making a chugging noise and the browser (IE or Firefox) crashes. It brings up one of those senseless error messages about something failing. I'd look now but it'd close this screen. I tried uninstalling Java but when I try uninstalling the JS2E Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 5 it won't let me uninstall either. It makes the same noise and freezes up the window. What in the hell do I do? I've never had a problem quite like this.
I was trying to rid myself of the parite.B virus i deleted a java file of some sort. When I went back in to register (again) some dll's using cmd I was successful with all of them except the java one. I unistall it and reinstall it and it wont uninstall blaming a bad installation and missing file to be able to do that, when I try to reinstall over the top of it and i download etc."another version has already been installed and that installation will now cease. In fact along those same lines there are two other programs that will not let me uninstall them due to a missing or corrupt (but apparently necessary) file. one of those is Office 2007,
I am on an administrator account Windows XP Professional. I have JRE 5.0 update 8 installed, yet when I try to go to websites that use it with either Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.8 or with Internet Explorer, it tells me 'you need to install this plugin. I click install, and it starts an install JRE 5 update 6 or 7, different half the time but then it tells me You already have this installed. So I hit refresh, and it asks me to install it again.
Installed by clicking the "installing missing plugin" strip on top of the browser then it didnt work so i tried installing manually the process went throught but Java is still a "missing plugin" in firefox i opened up IE it's working perfectly fine.
