This is not cool, I am using windows xp. The problem is line and blocks across the screen (if you don't know what i mean, theres a picture in the attachments). if any one knows how to fix this plz let me know.it first happened when i open world of war craft, but i don't see this being the problem cause its played different games with much better graphics like s.t.a.l.k.e.r. this is really frustraiting and i need help muchly.

Somehow the line that you put web sites -- after the http --has disappeared. I'm sure that there's a simple way to get it back but I'm new to WIN XP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is confusing the heck out of me. on my screen is a black line approximately a pixel thick that runs horizontally over everything. When I change my screen resolution (changing it from 1280x1024 to 1152x864 and back again) it disappears.
It shows back up roughly about once week in differnt places (closer to bottom, closer to top, smack dab in the middle, etc.) This has been happening for months. Doesn't affect my work all that much. I am just a little curious as to what causes it.
I have a problem regarding my explorer window in win xp pro. The menu that usualy are on the left side of the screen has moved to the top under the adress line. And I don't have any ide on how it got there. Anyone know how to move it back to the left side? Here's a screenshoot of it:

When this happens, the XP splash screen appears(blue line scrolling) and then monitor loses signal and reboot occurs. This can cycle several times, even if I choose the option of starting Windows with last known configuration that worked. It always eventually loads and reports that Windows experienced a serious problem.

I move them back to where I want them and organize. If I reboot again, the icons reset again. What can be causing this and how can I fix the problem?

I noticed after a few more tries that I could VERY faintly see the Microsoft XP logo, the HP logo, but it was close to total darkness.It's a Compaq NX5000 - I had the power cord plugged in too. Also, I saw once or twice that it seemed to power down on its own also.

I figured it was due to a virus, so i wiped the drive and reinstalled windows xp. everything seems to work ok, except for the fact that now neither my internal wireless nor my SD slot seem to work at all. A lot of popups started coming up that said it found new hardware(about 10 or 12). I restored it back a couple of days and now everything is back to normal. I hope I didn't make a mistake doing this. I ran my ewido and then my AVG. If it happens again, maybe I should just trash it.

While the laptop was being repaired I used an enclosure to access my data and changed the permissions on it several times and I think that may be part of my problem. When I first put it in I could access everything okay, but first I had to change my permissions which I did. When I turn on my computer it sort of hangs up on the first screen where it shows the ASUS manufacturers logo or whatever. I believe this is where it is running POST tests in the background, I've hit DELETE before to see whats happening during this and its auto detecting Primary Drives and stuff like that. Well within 20-30 seconds of that the screen goes blank and theres a one little blinking cursor for about 3 seconds then the cursor jumps down a line and blinks twice and finally the Windows XP loading screen comes up.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI run XP SP2 on Athlon 2600 and 512 MB RAM and last night I shut it down as usal. When I turn my computer on this morning, it started to boot, but after few seconds, the long message appears, something like: "We are sorry for inconvenience but Windows can not start... " and it tells me to either boot into Safe mode, use last configuration, or start Windows normally. The last option is highlighted. But after that, blue screen flashes for just a moment (long enough to see there is some text but not long enough to read it), and then it goes back to start... detecting hard drive and stuff. It keeps looping like that forever. I tried to go to safe mode, but the same things happen. It goes back to start and then a "Start Windows normally" is Highlighted again.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using a Gateway Tablet PC. XP PRO; 2Gig ram; 80 gig hd; Within the last few days it has fallen apart. I have added nothing new. I boot it on and all seems well. I can run an app, work in it and then close it. Then the mouse freezes or slows to a crawl. I can not open any thing else. I registered several DLL's such as urlmon.dll,etc. because of a Micrsoft fix listed elsewhere but this did not work. All spyware and virus checks have been negative. CTRL-ALT-Del gives me an error that the taskmgr.exe could not be initialized. Now the only way to shut down is to totally power off and if reboot I get the blue screen while the disk is checked and it is always negative

Not OS specific, just some completely viscious way so I never-ever see that pop-up, pop-over, pop-under again.
