Restoring Computer To Factory Settings

Jul 30, 2007

Currently I am running off of a Windows XP Home Edition. When I first plugged it in I had just resolution problems and windows opening up off of the available screen space. I even changed resolutions, etc. after fishing out the Display Settings window from the abyss. I tried rebooting and going into safe mode but once I got to the Settings screen, my arrow keys would not let me travel there.I figured since I really don't have anything but the Internet and messengers on this computer that I'd just restore the computer to factory settings. The problem? I don't know how. I am pretty sure I have all of the CDs, but if someone could give me a step-by-step that would be excellent. I could read it off of the laptop as I work on it. Try and make it as clear as possible

Dell Computer Issue Of Restoring Factory Settings

Aug 11, 2009

A BIG MISTAKE I found out later. Dell has a "PC Restore for Window XP" that I found out later.

Here's the link:http://support.dell.com/support/topi...docid=181316#1

Basically, "When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold <Ctrl> and then press <F11>. Then, release both keys at the same time.
NOTE: Some systems like Inspiron Mini 9 (910) do not support System Restore as they do not have <F11> nor any substitute."

In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press <Tab> to highlight Restore, and then press <Enter>.

I right clicked on "My Computer" icon to the "Microsoft's Management Console" window and I have 3 portion's.

The first one is a "Healthy EISA Configuration" that is FAT 31MBs., the 2nd one is "healthy Unknown Partition" that is a FAT32 3.49 GB's. And the 3rd is a healthy System
79.97 GB's. ( I have a 80 GB HD..

I wanted to restore my system to the factory settings ( I have all important file, music, pictures backup.

Is their any way to do this. I have tried the "system restore" , but I can't get back that far. I can only got back to May 4 2009.

Is there a "registry crack" I could do. Yes, I know the registry vert well.

Reset My Computer To Factory Settings

Dec 26, 2009

My computer showed it had a virus and I hit F-11 at startup to put the computer into Safe Mode, but during the process I ended up resetting my computer to the factory settings. The reset said that it would save all my current files into My Backup but I can not find them. I need to reverse the reset and bring my computer hard drive back to the current settings. How can I do this? I heard that the information is still on the hard drive, but I don't know how to retrieve it.

Restoring Computer After Virus Attack?

Aug 17, 2010

My PC was recently infected with a virus (Antivirus GT) and although I'm sure I've cleared it by running i0Bit 360 and Malwarebytes anti malware, none of the desktop icons or the task bar appear on start up.I can still access programs through the task manager (File, new task, run)and all my files are still present but obviously, I would like to return my computer to it's former working state. I do not have all the system recovery disks and could not find system restore or safe mode on the computer so I'm hoping there is a way of doing this without the use of CD's.

Back SP3 To SP2 When The SP3 Is A Factory Install?

May 7, 2009

We just got a couple new Dell Optiplex 360 w/ XP and we need one to run SP2, not SP3. However, because we didn't update the machine--SP3 came w/the factory install--all the instructions I've found for uninstalling SP3 here and elsewhere don't apply as far as I can tell.1) Add/Remove w/ updates checked shows no service pack updates, SP2 or SP3 2) Windows Update history likewise shows no service pack updates 3) System info shows SP3.

The reason for the back up is the Cannon IR1310 printer attached to the machine locks the computer for 20-30 seconds before each print job. Updating drivers has not helped and we had the same issue with the last machine in that office--we had to back that up to SP2 after installing SP3 for the same reasons. No problems with network printers, just the local one and I think it is a printer-incompatability problem when using SP3.

The recovery disc creator does not work and my laptop has been discontinued and they don't offer any support for it. So I will be using the recovery console partition HP has put on the computer. Settings - Computer Smart - Apearence And Themes

Sep 2, 2005

I am so glad I found this site. Secondly I am not very ''computer smart"... ok..here's what is going on...hopefully I can explain clearly enough. My computer is a Dell.. I am operating Windows XP...I just had a new video card put in it..things don't seem right, as in my font is really small ( i have changed that under "apprearance and themes" and under "view" on my tool bar..but when I type regular it is so small and light..also when I open anything to do an email or a message at a group the body where the message goes is really small as well... especially if I go to an MSN Group. Before the body was larger and I could see everything I typed. Could this be a setting problem that I don't know about or could it be that the video card is not right. They had to order it and it took months to even get it back. I am so at a loss on what to do and aggravated at the same time.
