Reinstall Home How Do Reinstall All Program Files?
Dec 8, 2007I reinstall Windows XP Home because My computer was messed up. It deleted all my files.. so on my desktop screen I don't have any Program Files Icons. BUT it still save my Files. I have my orginial files in my Documents folders and In my Program Files It has all the Programs and files that go with that program? How do I zap everything back on my desktop screen so I don't have to go Download each files as new again??? And I how do i get my Internet Favorite Links and my Notepad with my saved information in it? Yes I did try the "Start" and then program files and none of the programs are there.. BUT yet it is in my Program Hard drive C: Program files. with the Program and all it's content?

Sep 19, 2006I recently installed Windows Live One Care on my computer. After installing it, I attempted to open it but had no success. An error message pops up and says "Windows Live One Care has encountered a problem and needs to close." It gives me the option to Send Error Report or to Not Send Error Report. This happens constantly everyime i try to open it. I can not reinstall this program because it is not listed in my Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. Also, I tried using their (Microsoft's) uninstaller and i get this message.

Sep 20, 2005I want to upgrade my CPU, seems I also need to upgrade my MB. I have been informed I need to do a clean install of WINXP including SP2 and all updates, I would also have to re-install all my programs and software some of which have been upgrades others I am not sure which are data ,As I am not a newbee but also not that computer savvy to risk loosing a lot of what I consider survival programs. Old enough to be smarter, young enough to know better. No major changes made to computer in over 120 days, just a hard drive way over 6 months ago. Can new MB and CPU be installed without such drastic steps as needing to reinstall everything? At present running on Intel 933MHZ, 640 Ram.

With the touch pad being, well, touchy, I experimented with keystrokes.I found that the laptop (with XP Home) will shut down if I press "Alt+F4" keys, then the "U" key for shut down. I tried it on my desktop (with XP Pro) and it worked there too.If it doesn't seem to work, click somewhere on the desktop and try again.

Oct 8, 2005I had some files on my mp3 player that i wanted to transfer to my computer.its a zen touch and it sends the files to a temp folder first then to where ever you wanted it to go.well it turns out id idnt have enough memeory to do this and now i only hav 765mb of free space on my c drive.i need to know how to get to these temps folders to delete these files.i tried disk cleanup but it didnt work.

Jul 2, 2005I have two computers (a PC and a Mac) and a Maxtor One Touch External Hard disk 250 GB. I would like to back up these two machines using a single external hard disk. So I have partitioned the hard disk into two and have NTFS and FAT32 as the file systems. The NTFS partition is around 163 GB and the FAT32 is around 75GB. I could successfully back up the PC into the NTFS part but have problems with the Mac.
When the hard disk is mounted on to the Mac, both the partitions appear on the desktop. The Mac OS is 10.3 and it identifies both partition correctly. It recognises the NTFS part as readonly and FAT32 part as "readable and writable". But when I tried to backup for the first time there was an error saying "insert a new disk". I tried to overwrite the contents of the FAT32 part as I didn’t need them any longer hence asked to proceed with the backup. The Mac started erasing. I thought it was erasing the files previously present in the FAT32 part but it continued erasing for some time and finally erased the FAT32 file system itself. So the icon representing the FAT32 part of the partition of the external hard disk disappeared from the Mac’s desktop......

Jul 23, 2005My Help and Support stopped working about the same time I installed the free utility GhostScript / Gsview so that I could view postscript files. I tried posting a question on another usenet newsgroup, but the answer of: click on install on the C:windowsinfpchealth.inf file - resulted in a search for the file dataspec.xml in the C:windowsinfi386 directory - Unfortunately, such directory does not exist on my C: drive. Furthermore, the "K:I386" directory of my Original Win XP Home CD does not contain any file named "dataspec.xm_ or .xml".And beyond that, I ordered a new Win XP SP2 CD, which just now arrived by mail - and there is no "K:I386" directory on that CD, nor does the CD apparently contain any file called "dataspec" (including dataspec.*).Another effort toward resolution occurred via another usenet post I read, which suggested opening the XP command line feature and executing a system status command, that displayed enabled services - I used that method, and switched the Help and Support service off and then on again. Such action did not in-fact enable the Help feature (including, of course restart), despite the indication that the Help and Support service was enabled. I am, and have been, running a purchased-CD version of Win XP Home, with a downloaded SP2 revision (I have not installed the new Win XP SP2 CD). Basically, I want to find out the means and methods for enabling my Win XP SP2 Help and Support feature, that apparently has been disabled or otherwise rendered inoperative.Is a reinstall of Win XP possible and the best choice? What are the other options?

Before the reinstall the bradband service was wrking fine..When I originall took out the bradband service it was through NTL. My cable modem states 'NTL' and the broadband disk has NTL' on it and I registered it tthough NTL. Now Virgin Media has bought up NTl annd I don't know if there is a compatibility prblem. I've already gone through all the steps to correct this (checking my DSL speed, anti-spyware scans, anti-virus scans, doing it all in safe mode, even reset my winsock.dll, etc.) but I'm still having problems with slow browsers. So now I think I'm faced with reinstalling Windows XP. My question is, should I do a format & reinstall, or is it better to reinstall Windows over my existing version? I have a Compaq Presario, and it comes with a Recovery CD.

Downloaded A Program From Ebay / Program Didn't Get Install
Jun 19, 2005I downloaded a program from Ebay and after installing it I noticed it didn't have a uninstall. I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.
