View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Home Edition, SP2 on two separate bootable hard drives in my Dell XPS B1000r. I have my 80 GB main hard drive and a 40 GB extra hard drive. I mainly boot from my main 80 GB hard drive, and thats the drive that wont boot after I changed the drive letter.
I wanted to rename the Drive letters associated with each of these hard drives. I was able to change the extra hard drive using the Disk Management option. I was not able to change the letter of my main hard drive, because I booted from it. I used Regedit to change the boot drive letter, based on the Microsoft Help & Support article:

View 6 Replies View Relatedthe problem is, my mouse and keyboard are not working in that OS, so i cant do a damn thing, so luckily i have another OS installed on the second partition (which is where im writing from right now) and i was thinking, maybe i can export that key, as a reg-file and then just click on it, fixing the whole issue. Bad thinking, because i have nothing to click it with, no mouse, no keyboard! And its saved, right there on the desktop!!!So to my question, is there any way to add that key to the other OS registry from this OS, or maybe is there a way to activate the export-file at startup or something? maybe with DOS?
View 14 Replies View Relatedi was going to wait and see what they did at work about the DST problem and then apply a similar concept at home. They supposedly patched XP (at work)for the new dates for DST but then they went and changed all the times in my Outlook Calendar,at least in the two extended date intervals ,by 1 hour. I really don't understand the last part.If I have an appointment at 10:00, it still is at 10:00 DST not withstanding, at least I think so Shouldn't Outlook match the appt time with whatever time the system clock is displaying and work accordingly?
View 4 Replies View Relatedtwo new computers a router and networked the home. I have the host computer and my children are each on wireless as clients. Both children can access internet, but only 1 can access printer. I actually figured out the problem that's huge as I'm a network idiot. My son's computer (can't use printer) is using my old computer with MY name on it. I am on the new computer with MY name on it. So when he tries to access the printer it doesn't know where to go. I have windows xp HOME and from what I see I can't change the name on his computer the folder immediately under documents & settings). I followed instructions to copy from one folder to another (ie, Mine to his) using a 3rd administrator account. I could copy any account but mine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run WindowsXP Home and after long shutdown periods (ie. overnight), the following dialogue box appears at startup:Window Registry Recovery One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.I would say this message appears 90% of the time, and so far my computer runs fine. I should also say that it started appearing after I installed NortonAV 2006 and updated Windows with SP2. I have since uninstalled Norton, but it still appears.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that I have supposedly installed Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) several times today! I think thismay be because spybot is blocking a registry change called Winlogon something or other. Can anyone confirm this? In other words if I tell spybot to allow this will that stop updates from repeatedly trying to install the same thing?
I use CCleaner everyday and it removes all TMP files, which is what I want. However, it also REMOVES the settings I make with "TweakUI" to change "AUTOLOGON", to "LOGON AUTOMATICALLY AT SYSTEM STARTUP", and "VIEW / THUMBNAILS" to "VIEW / DETAILS". Using Google, I have found that these changes are made to a TMP file. When I use CCleaner, it removes the TMP files that have the changes that I want.I have Googled for hours and can not find the answer. I did find mention that the changes I make are saved to "TMP" files and therefore, CCleaner is removing my changes. It mentioned that the REGISTRY could be changed to make my changes permanent, but the site did not tell me how to do it.Can anyone tell me how to modify REGISTRY to make my changes permanent? I want to keep "LOGON AUTOMATICALLY AT SYSTEM STARTUP" and to have all files shown as "DETAILS"

How do I get permission, or how do I change the registry to remove the former owner?
