I use Windows RAS connections to connect to servers via IP. Recently, they have "stopped working" the first time I connect, then every other time after that. The modem connects, I can log in just fine, it assigns me an IP address, but I can't ping the server. If I hang up and do it again, I can then ping the server. If I hang up and do it a 3rd time, it doesn't work. 4th time it does, etc, etc...I have dozens of servers I connect to and they all do this and it didn't do it a few weeks ago, so I know it's not the equipment. I have XP Pro verson 2002 Service Pack 2 and I'm current on all Microsoft updates. I have automatic updates setup and I do recall that my computer had reset (which means it did an update) a few days before I noticed the problem. I know Microsoft has had RAS issues in the past.
for a little while now i've been unable to connect to any servers, or at least thats what i think. I play lots of games online and so on. things were fine and then one day i recieved this error while trying to play 'halo' online. 'An error has occurred while trying to contact the gamespy master server'. after messing around with halo for a while i tried other games; doom3, quake3, counter strike and so on, but all with the same effect, i couldnt connect to a server. This was also the case when i tried to update Ad-aware, it freezes when i try to update. I've checked my firewall and individual programs but have come to no conclusion. have also tried 'system restores' but each time they fail?
We have one computer that is unable to connect via RDP to two servers. The system gives an error "The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server Licenses". We know that it is a computer issue because we can have that same user logon to another computer and they can use RDP to connect to all servers. This is a fresh install of XP Pro SP3. We have 5 different servers that users can logon to, 3 are Server 2000 and the other 2 are Server 2003.
I have bought a laptop that has windows pro 2000 installed and want to connect to i'net via my wireless router on my main comp.the laptop shows that wireless is working fine.I cannot connect to net I was told that I have to create a new connection..but I have tried my best to do so and am lost.

I went to set up a new dial up connection in XP.I went to connection wizard, I click next, I check connect to the internet, I click next, I check set up my connection manually and click next. On the how do you want to connect to the internet page, connect using a broad band connection is allready checked and the other choices are greyed out. I cannot uncheck the connect using broadband listing. Every time I try this it is the same thing.

I use wireless device which connects to my Desktop downstairs, which in turn connects to the router upstairs. So I've been randomly disconnecting when playing games like WoW, and CoH & losing connection on the internet as well. It can't be the router I assume since the laptop upstairs which connects to the same thing never disconnects. I have a D-Link router and a D-link gaming router which connects to the PC. Any help?
After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.
I have 4 comp on a w2k enviroment, 3 of them w2k and one of them xp pro,I was always able t rd to any of them and from any of them to each other, today the xp fail to rd. I get this error "client could not connect to the remote computer, remote connection might no be enable or the computer might be too busy to accept new connection"
I am running Windows xp.I installed 'Remote desktop' on a windows 2000 computer on my network. When I try to connect, I get The Workgroup domain/workgroup does not contain any terminal servers'
I would normally always specify machines with XP Pro on them. However we need to buy some new laptops for some staff who work away from our office, and the only spec as supplied is with XP HomeThese machines only occasionnaly have to physically connect to our network in the office, but will always have to PN into our servers via the Internet.I am not really sure what the difference were between XP Pro and XP Home.
I use mIRC and I've given it full access in my Firewall Zone Alarm free edition settings, but whenever I try to join a server, GameSurge in this case, I get this error: This never used to happen with the older version of ZoneAlarm, but I'm assuming this version has bug fixes or improved stability over the older one so I'm reluctant to go back to it.
It has been suggested that using a proxy server will help to make my system more secure while I'm online. I looked at some of the suggested free proxy servers, but they seemed not to work well if at all. The explanations were well enough for me to follow but my system ran exceedingly slow or the sites I tried to access disallowed this. So I want to find a reliable site to buy one. I came across HIDE MY IP site and it looked easy to follow and was not overly expensive. My main thought was, how can I tell when a site which offers programs is actually not unscrupulous?
I just formated one of my servers to discover that local disk is not E: instead of C: , i tried to change it back, but it will not let me since it is the boot device?
is a recent problem, first noticed on using ebay, when I clicked on to "All items ending now" and got an alert message saying "unable to connect to altfarm.mediaplex.com".This is now happening on loads of things but not all

I shut down system restore and went into safe mode to clean out spyware, ect. In safe mode, spybot,i used ewiedo, smit, adware. i dont recall but i think spybot was the only program to find an item. When i rebooted in normal XP, i have been unable to connect IE6,Weatherbug,Widgets to my wireless connection. However Firefox is connecting pretty good, atlhough my wireless program is funny, its telling me there is no internet connection as i surf I tried 'internet options' such as resetting IE, i tried that scannow command. again, i dont have the system restore option to use. but also yahoo widgets are not connectiong nor weathebug.
I'm setting up my friends home network. They have 2 PCs connected via ethernet and one laptop on wireless. The router is a wireless router / modem from 2wire. PC number 2 and the laptop both connect with no issues. PC number 1 is weird though. I can go to 192.168.1.254 and it opens up the router system page and I can go through and change and view settings. However when I try to go to any websites it immediately goes to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I have tried netscape and the iTunes store and nothing can connect to the web. I have linux ubuntu on a Live CD and I can boot from that and it connects to the internet just fine.
my cable is not working properly.Every 15-20 minutes my internet connection is broken even though the modem is online and there is no problem with the cable coming into my house. I have to reset the cable modem and then it works for another 10-20 minutes until the next cut. Ive had this problem before (last time i changed computers) but cant remember how it was resolved. I already talked to my ISP support but these guys are brain damaged or something and cannot even comprehend my problem and all 3 actually concluded that i had somehow contracted some killer virus immediately after connecting my computer and this virus was the root of my problems
I go into network connections, then I try to disable my lan connection and enable my wireless and bamm."Error Disabling Connection- It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may have one or more protocals that do not support Plug-and-Play".
I have tired to get rid of this bridge connection that is on my local area connection. I try to remove it with the bridge connection area and all it says is "To create a Network Bridge, you must select at least two LAN or High-Speed Internet connections that are not being used by Internet Connection Sharing." I have AT&T hig speed internet and tired talking to them and they said it was on my end, plus I spend two hours on the phone to someone who doesn't know much english and not alot about computers. So can someone please help me. The only way I can connect to the internet is through the my D-Link router which sucks
I recently reinstalled Windows XP Home on a friends computer, but when I went to create their dialup connection to the internet, I couldn't.I went into the 'Internet Connection Wizard'. Told it that I was connecting directly to the internet. Then I told it I was going to set up the connection manually. But whenever the option comes up to setup a dial-up or broadband connection, the dial-up option is greyed out and unselectable. In device manager, it shows my modem as being fine. It's installed with no conflicts.
I got a Toshiba with windows XP.. Its an older laptop and runs slow.. which is fine for what i need it for.. It is connected through a Dlink Cable modem. Recently moved and had a DSL connection of 3 years no problems. Had to switch to cable broadband. The lights all light up solid no problem. Network cable connected to no problem. I've been trying to use Remote Desktop to connect from my home computer to my office network's machines. I've followed all the instructions except for the part where it talks about getting a "virtual private network connection". Not sure if I have this part done right. Not even sure if this is the problem. Is there something that needs to be set up before being able to connect from a home computer to an office machine?

Ive been trying to add a wireless laptop to my desktop dsl. There are only two computers. The desktop win.xp already using dsl from att. And the new laptop with win.vista premium. Next is the linksys router which I cant make head or tails how to hook up. I called linksys and was asked to hold for a tech.that could help me set up the router. After fifteen minutes holding, the line is hung up by them and the phone goes dead. Im no better off now than before I made the call. And still not wired up to go online with the laptop. As for knowing which wire goes where I know nothing, 0, of how to place the wires. So Im hoping someone here can tell me. I went to HELP @ att and couldnt understand how to fix anything. Probably more fault being mine more than theirs.
