Panasonic DV203 Camcorder Not Recognized By OS

Jun 28, 2005

I am trying to connect my Panasonic DV203 camcorder to my PC in order to create DVDs of the content I have video taped. My system refuses to recognize the camcorder. I get no ping acknowleging a new hardware device as been attached.I am trying to connect via a Ultra IEEE 1394 Firewire adapter (ULT-31342).Device manager shows no conflicts.I've tried the MS MovieMaker, an evaluation copy of ULead's Video Studio 9.0, and an evaluation copy of Video Edit Magic 4.0. None of them see the camcorder. I get various error messages from each stating "A video capture device was not detected" or "No capture device found" or "Either no video capture driver is installed in this system or no device is connected".

Using A USB Camcorder As Webcam?

Apr 23, 2007

I recently read the article on Tom's Hardware about using a camcorder as a webcam. They used crappy, free USB drivers and the results were HORRIBLE. WebCamDV has very good quality, pretty much perfect, but it is only for FireWire connected camcorders. My camcorder doesn't have a firewire connection, it only has USB (supposed to be for quick captures). Is there software that gets similair results to WebCamDV, only from a USB connection?

Hook Up Camcorder - Blue Screen Of Death

Sep 19, 2008

I've "always" had problems with using devices on my computer (XP). When I tried to hook up my camcorder I got a blue screen of death, and in the end no matter what I tried, as soon as I tried to stream my video it froze so badly the machine had to be turned off at the wall, and left to recover. I don't remember what the blue screen code was at that time, as I assumed it was a one-off. However, I now like to keep in touch with friends and family in New Zealand using a webcam. Now, I had freezing and crashing using Messenger, so I now use Camfrog, which has been fine up until yesterday, well, actually, not fine, sometimes it would crash when I put in the camera password (to activate the webcam), but mostly it would work.

So .......... yesterday, it started playing up real badly. I had to reboot (after turning the pc off at the wall) five times! Now it doesn't even give me the chance to put in the password just gives me this: (put a ? in by the UGCODE, cause I couldn't quite read what that symbol was [screen cuts off], but from googling I think its a "b"...

Easiest Way To Capture Video's Off My DV Camcorder Into Windows Movie Marker

Jul 7, 2005

easiest way i can capture video's off my DV Camcorder into windows movie marker and if i can, have it automatically split the clips up into 4.2 gig sized movies..(the reason being i have a movie thats 8 or 10 gigs long, and i want to cut it into slices that will fit just right onto a dvdr) there is a check box when your recording the movie that says "make clips when finished" or something like that and it just seems to split my movie in half i think? i'm not really sure...Also does WMM copy the information DIRECTLY from the tape digitally to the computer so what i have is an EXACT copy of what was on the camcorder? (i.e. the FPS and screen size and image quality are the EXACT SAME? no gen loss?)..

USB External Drive Not Recognized Or "recognized" As An "unknown Device"?

Sep 1, 2005

I have a Sabrent SBT-EKU25 external enclosure with a 2.5 inch hard disk in it. This is a USB 2.0 drive and whenever I connect it to USB 2.0 port, it is not recognized (or "recognized" as an unknown device" ) on all my machines. It however is recognized as a drive and works fine on one laptop which has only USB 1.1 ports.I have tried separately powered USB hubs as well without success. So I don't think it's a power issue.I have even tried deleting all USB devices in Device Manager and let the machine rediscover them.

DVD-RW Drive - CD Is Recognized, But Not Dvd

Sep 21, 2007

I have been using this pc with windows xp for about a month now and up to now I have had no problems, but for some reason my drive has suddenly stopped reading dvds...My drive is an Optiarc DVD-RW AD-5170AI can insert a cd and it recognizes and reads the disk perfectly, but when I insert a dvd windows appears to start to read the disk, but after a few seconds nothing seems to be happening except that the read light on the drive is lit and the drive makes a few strange sounds. I have left it to load for a few minutes but still nothing happens. After searching, I have found 2 possible solutions:The first was to uninstall the driver and restart. Upon restart windows will reinstall the device.I tried that twice, still experiencing the same problem.

Camera Not Recognized

Mar 20, 2006

When I first got the computer, when I plugged in a digital camera, I got a "found new hardware" pop-up, thereafter when plugging in the USB cable, the XP camera wizard popped up and the pictures were downloaded without a fuss. At some point it stopped working, and I've ended up using Picassa to get the images d'ld, but it won't let me add photos to an existing folder. I want the Windows wizard to work again, that was better. My new camera is not recognized at all, and if anything pops up, it's Explorer. I tried to install drivers from the disc that came with the camera, but keep getting a message that says I don't need to. I've tried to manually add the camera with the "add hardware" function, but it won't work.

Device Not Recognized

Dec 16, 2006

What would cause a relatively new HP Media Center computer to recognize other things inserted into any of the USB ports in the front (for example, a jump drive), but NOT recognize one device (a Lowrance iWAY 500c GPS car navigation device) that is readily recognized when it's plugged into a different computer? The HP computer is a friend's. The "different computer" is mine, a custom machine from Puget Systems with a P4 on an Asus MoBo. On the friend's computer, we get a "bubble" message from the taskbar to the effect that the device is not recognized -- so it knows something is plugged in, but apparently doesn't have the driver for it.

Her system is running Win XP and I assume (but don't know for sure) that she's kept up with Windows updates.
When I check MyComputer, the Lowrance isn't on the list. In Device Manager, it's listed as "Unknown device".I'm wondering about things like the HP lists a pot full of drives because it has all the camera card slots, etc. in the front panel (I think the drives go all the way up to J:, almost all of which are "removable drives".

Everything that I have read about this problem is when people have it the device does not work.In my situation everything(digital camera, printer,Ipod)all work with no problem. This message went away for almost 2 months but now it's back again. Anyone help me out here? I'm running Windows XP home edition and the computer is 1 1/2 years old. One other thing.
