I was surfing and I clicked on a link and it froze my pc. After that my Mozilla FoxFire browser froze as well. I cleaned the cache on the browser and when I went to open it, the browser asked for a profile like netscape does???? All of my bookmarks are gone. I thought to correct the problem with system restore but everytime I try to use it no matter how far back I go the pc can not use the restore points?

I have looked through their extensions website but didn't find an English dictionary, found several languages out there but not English.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally completely crashed my computer because of my inability to accept my computer knowledge level. The Geek Squad sent a nice young man and I'm $350 lighter (plus the $75.00 I used to buy a back up external hard drive a few days after the Geek repair). He saved my pictures and my large I-Tunes library and he fixed the computer. He says it's a solid machine (Sony VAIO, over 1 Gb, 5 years old, don't know any more info) and it probably has a few more years in it. I lost all my programs, but most were free. AVG and Adobe were very cool in giving me new licenses to download programs that I had purchased very recently.
Anyway, I don't know how much of that is relevant accept that the Geek guy messed me up with my default browser. We specifically talked in detail about what I use and what programs I had. AOL has been my e-mail address since AOL started. Everyone, business and otherwise has the address so it is what I use for e-mail only. For a browser I almost totally use Mozilla, although I've been playing a little bit with Opera lately. The problem is that the kid made AOL my default browser. Every time I type a web address in Mozilla or Opera AOL pops open. It even pops open when I'm not in a browser. It states that it is opening because it is set as the default browser. Mozilla told me how to change that, but when I went to the Internet Properties area I saw that the kid didn't even list Mozilla. He put AOL as default. He listed Opera, Outlook Express (which I've never used) and MSN (they must pay these guys a commission because I had all kinds of Microsoft programs I've had to remove). I'm sure that I had something listed as my default browser before but it never did this. I can't find a place to type in or somehow add Mozilla. Can anyone help? Sorry this is so long for what is hopefully not a big problem.
Bought my daughter a new inspiron mini, it is only a month old.For starters it will no longer open Firefox. I reloaded Firefox and it still does the same thing, nothing happens, then a crash message from Mozilla.The machine is running real sluggish, and efforts to use "restore" are not working. I tried four different restore points, going back to the first and restore goes through the motions, reboots, then I get a message that say the machine was unable to restore, no changes were made.

Installed Norton Internet Security 2005 and now, whenever I try and do a system restore it says "System restore encountered a problem and has to close". It does this all the time, even in safe mode. Symantec has mentioned that I should turn off NIS2005 and try system restore. If it then works it is a Microsoft issue. I have been onto the Microsoft websites and they do not mention how to repair or reinstall system restore

I decided to get a printer that I had had before, Brother DCP-110C as I knew this had worked well. I tried to install yesterday (28th July) but could'nt and my PC keeps switching itself off near the end of the installation. View 5 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with CCleaner and deleted something to do with an old version of McAfee (which isn't even on my computer anymore) from the registry. Yes, it was stupid to mess with the registry I guess because I failed to make the backup and now my computer won't boot. I get the blue screen that says there was an error 0x0000008e, or something like that.
I have tried using F8 and choosing the last known good configuration but it doesn't work. Also, I can boot into safe mode and I tried running a system restore but after it finished and I rebooted, it said that I couldn't restore from that point.I haven't really tried another restore because I am a little afraid to do anything. I don't want to risk losing access in safe mode because I need to be able to back up some of my files if in case I have to do a reformat.
My computer had a turn yesterday and kept giving me the blue screen error on start-up, so using my windows disk I managed to run chkdsk. So I can get on now, but certain things won't run, like Media Centre, Firefox has forgotten my settings and also my iriver doesn't get acknowledged when I plug it into a USB port.So I am trying to run System restore to go back a couple of days.I can get into restore, and go through everything up to the point where you click 'next' in order to restore it.I click on next but nothing happens, it just stays there.

Anyway, drwtsn32.exe always activates when this problem occurs, and wants to send a report. I have reviewed the contents of the report on several occasions and it basically shows the error in the same location every time with the identical error (I think). The error is always occurring here: C:Documents and SettingsDaddyLocal settingsTemp The only way I can unfreeze my computer when it locks up is by going to my task manager and ending task on one of TWO drwtsn32.exe's.

I bought an external HD, completely backed up everything important and was about to run a system restore as I had created a manual restore point following the resolution of previous problems. The link to the thread is found below. However, when I use the system restore wizard, I can only select November 8th, 9th, and 10th and today is the 10th. I created the manual restore point back in March 2006. I cannot change the month and I have no idea where to find manual points.

This lady has learned the lesson. However all is not well with my dell laptop. I connect to the internet but when online the following happens: System hangs can't get the mouse to close a window, save as in a document or change a web page. In fact the cursor is stuck on the hour glass. The only way out is to turn off the power and restart. Dont seem to have any problems off line.

Its firewire port will not operate external (LaCie) DVD writer and after buying a PCMCIA card with 4 firewire outputs, they don't work either. Problem seems to be: no voltage on the firewire socket to "turn on" the DVD writer. Windows says Firewire drivers are "working normally".Is this likely a hardware or software problem.
