Resolved a SpySheriff problem yesterday through Security forum and now having a Mozilla problem, Techguy suggested a post here to try and resolve it.On XP SP2. Upgraded to newest Mozilla 2 days ago. Since then keep getting 'Illegal Operation in Plug-in Shockwave Flash' This pops up repeatedly and after few times being closed it shuts down Mozilla.

Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer. What should I do. P;ease advise.
View 3 Replies View RelatedPC MightyMax after I was having problems with my cmd not starting up. My cmd would say some 16 bit message The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal operation or for that matter try and run anything dos related and I really don't know how that started. I downloaded PC MightyMax to try and fix some of those problems. After installing I ran the test it said and it said I had a good bit of problems wrong and it said I had to pay to fix them so I just said forget it. I restarted my computer and when it got back to the windows part a message comes up in a bunch of symbols I deffinately cannot read. To be blunt just about everything is in those symbol things. It has a button to click even though I can't read it. I click it and it does nothing. I can't get to my desktop or anything. I tried starting in safemode and got to my desktop after hitting the button on the message and all my desktop items and everything else is in those weird symbol things
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am running WinXP Pro on IE6. Macromedia Shockwave is not working. It claims to be installed, but does not work. I do not think this is isolated to IE as I have tried it in Firefox as well, with the same result. Flash works great. Shockwave does nothing.I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have gone all thru the FAQ on the Shockwave site and did everything it told me to. I have uninstalled via Windows and via their uninstall program. I have reinstalled from two different links. I have rebooted. Nothing works! I have active x all enabled, and all cookies are enabled. Pop-up blocker turned off. no spyware detector that runs in the background. No firewall. I have no idea what the problem is, but it seems that there are many people experiencing the same thing, from the looks of the forums over there.

Please rerun this installation from an administrator's accout." Well, I have. Over and over. Tried the built-in admin account nada. I am listed as a system administrator, and it don't work there either. Even tried the "run as." option zip, zilch. So what's the sitch? Is there something that needs to be turned on? Or what? Tried the ctl-alt-del bit too, didn't work. What am I missing? Using WinXP Pro, SP2.

Prior to that, I purchased Windows 2000 Professional from Best Buy - it was a legal copy and I still have it.I wanted to upgrade/change to XP so I was hoping to get a less expensive purchase via eBay. Everything was fine with it until this week when I tried to download an upgrade to Windows Media Player 10. My licenses were out of wack and when I called Microsoft for support, they told me it was an OEM version and they didn't support those versions. I had no idea I purchased an OEM version. I want a legal copy of XP and don't want to have to reformat my harddrive. Since XP Professional is already on my computer, if I "re-buy" the op-sys, can I load it over this OEM version? Or do I have to reformat?

I bought an OEM copy of XP with RAM to put in this said machine.
Is there anyway I can just enter the information from the outside of the cd into XP somewhere so I wouldn't have to reinstall and keep this CD with the computer at this point then?
I have a computer that was given to me to use as a backup. It has two small HDs: C is about 6 Gb and D is about 9 Gb. Win XP Pro is on drive C. It is set up as NTFS. The processor is about 1.5. I do not have the CD and, thus, do not want an illegal copy of XP on this computer. I have legal copies of 95, 98SE and an ME upgrade. I would like to reformat the HD to Fat32 and put on one of these older OS. However, when I try to FDISK it will not allow me to reformat the disk, apparently because it is NTFS. It has only the one partition.

Windows & my Nero 8 both eventually refuse to record to the discs because they are recognizing them as "illegal discs". This error message must result from the size of the disc as I have no problems with 650 MB discs. I was able to record to one of the discs with another computer.This second computer is 64 bit XP VS my 32 bit. The burners are identical, and the Nero 7 used is nearly identical.I then erased the disc (with Nero 7) and tried it in the problem computer same issue.

I have also found a file called winhlp.dllalias which has references to a website called Americanfurniturewarehouse.com which repeatedly causes a pop-up on my internet explorer. Deleting this file has no long term effect.

The problem began after installing a Dail-up modem ("DYNEX" MOD# DX-M100) and loading the drivers for said Modem and a windows hardware update for the modem (that failed to install). First I had Blue Screenc ( c0000005 ) and stop errors ( 0X 000000D1 ). I then removed hardware and restored to previous state but continued blue screens. after some checking disabled "Norton antivirus" auto protect and have had no more Blue Screens. However the problem with freezing remains.

Logged on as my alter ego, I needed to open a Visio file. It asked for the master disk, and I proceeded to install (even though Viso is already installed for me to use as the prime user). I got a message that the Administrator had blocked this kind of activity.
How did I block it? And more important, how do I unblock it?
I have Windows XP Home Edition on HP Pavilion dv1000 series laptop. I installed AutoCAD2008 from their web site a few months ago. I found that it immediately slowed down my computer, even though I more than met their minimal installation requirements. After a week, I purchased a new computer to run ACAD, and uninstalled the program (except for the free DWF viewer) from my laptop. My laptop remained really slow. I tried to do the system Restore, but my computer was unable to go back to the date selected. I believe I defragged etc. after the uninstall, but am not 100% sure I did.
When I start the laptop first thing, the time showing doesn't change, even though minutes are passing. It takes about ten minutes from turning on the PC to getting Internet Explorer to open up. Or even to run Solitaire or open Notepad. I wonder if my ZoneLabs Security System is causing some of this slowness. Lately, I've been having to turn off the power to my laptop manually to get it to shut down.I regularly edit and keep my start up programs to a minimum, but include the programs Mozy (backup) and ZoneAlarm Security. I ran HijackThis and the log file is below. I've been puzzled why ZoneLabs has two scanning processes running at the same time.
I had a slow computer operation problem previously, and using the support here was able to fix it. I'm having the excrutiatingly slow operation again, where I click something like Solitaire, and it takes 2 to 4 minutes to run it the first time.
