Monitor Stop Working After Memory And Usb 2.0 Upgrade
Jun 14, 2010
After I installed a usb 2.0 card and triple my memory size. my monitor after about an hour stop working. I tried everything (or almost everything that I know). I reseat the battery on the motherboarb, disconnect and reconnect almost every wire, use different monitors` that I know works, still their is no signal going to my monitor when I boot.
I am trying to upgrade the RAM memory on my Gateway MX3230 notebook. It presently has 256 MB and I would like to upgrade to 1 GB. I have checked the Gateway website and and upgrade to 1 GB is acceptable. I purchased a memory module from Kingston which was listed as being compatible with my laptop. When I tried installing the module, the computer will not start, nothing but black screen. It's as thought there is no memory at all. I tried re-installing the module making sure it was inserted in as far as it will go, still no luck. There is no settings in bios that I can see that would prevent the acceptance of this module
I purchased a new pc recently and the operating system, XP Pro, needed Service Pack 2 installed. The install was uneventful and the pc seemed to have accepted the new service pack without any issues. However, ever since the installation, I have noticed a "flickering" round the edges of the screen and the screen's attempt to almost expand and contract around the same edge area.(FYI...I upgraded the os on another pc at the same time and the same effects around the edges of the screen are occurring). I went to Microsoft's SP2 database to try to determine whether or not this was a known problem, but I couldnt find anything mentioned about the flickering or shrinkage/expansion.I am also wondering whether or not there is some assocation to this problem and the mouse function?
My computer is 2 years old and after adding many games for the grandkids my computer has started slowing down. I now have 512MB of memory would it speed up my computer to add memory? If so how much should I add and how do I do this? Is there a site that shows step by step instructions?
A DFI NForce3 motherboard. He went to the DFI site and downloaded the bios upgrade using the winflash software. The system then started running memtest86+ It went through a dozen passes -- no errors -- and now he can't get it to stop. He's tried pushing escape but its turning the test back on. He's tried the other tabs on memtest86+ I can't remember the names and memtest86+ restarts but he can't get back to Windows. How can he turn the darn thing off I'm not computer literate, but I did a little checking and I came across something that said to take memtest86+ out of the floppy drive or reset the boot order. His memtest86+ is not on a floppy or cd and he can't get the bios to come up to reset a boot order
I have a custom pc with 512Mb of memory and want to add 1Gb to that.Ive already check at Kingston,Crucial and Gigabyte sites and know I need a DDR-333 memory. I have some questions though.
1.Will I need to add an extra fan to avoid higher temperature anywhere?
2.How can I know if my existing memory stick will work with the new one?
3.Do I need to change any configuration in my computer?
I have 512MB of RAM with a 1.9GB processor. I installed another 512MB into the computer... Now my computer wont work properly... I get a message saying that some file is corrupt and I need to repair it. I did what I needed to do but when I boot up and get to the logon screen, it is asking me for a password for my logon name.I never had a password for any of my logon names.By this, I cant get onto my computer. I even tried to go into Safe Mode, samething. It is asking me for a password at the Administrator logon name
I have a Dell computer with XP Home edition. It has Service Pack 2, Pentium 4 CPU 1.6 GHz 1.59GHz, 512 MB Ram. I wanted to purchase a new computer but will lose many of my programs that will be very expensive to replace, some that are no longer compatible with new 64 Bit machines. Can I upgrade The memory and speed of my computer?
I installed 256 DDR in my nephews computer and when I click on the system info..it still says he only has 116 of RAM left (He started out with 128 before I installed the memory upgrade). I assumed it would automatically install.
I recently purchased additional memory, 2 sticks of 256mb PC133, for my HP computer. I currently have 2x128mb and this has worked since I bought my computer about 3 years ago. My problem is that when I install both the new sticks, 512 total, the system refuses to boot into Windows and gives a FATAL SYSTEM ERROR. I don't get this error with the 128mb memory, or even when mixing for a total of 384. The memory is from Crucial.com and I have run diagnostics on all sticks with no problems. I have all the lastest Windows, BIOS, and hardware updates available, and still it crashes
i want to increase the memory on my computer, at present it is 512. Is it just a case of buying new memory and un pluging the old and pluging in the new if so what happens to all the stuff on the old memory.
Intel celeron 10g hard drive(very small almost full) compaq evo compact desktop. My wife uses this for game play etc.It had 1 512m & 1 256 card in it & worked ok. I removed the 256 card & put a second 512 in.When i boot up i just get 3 beeps all of the same length & the monitor light goes green & then back to orange & the screen says no signal. We bought the tower cheap about 12 months ago at 256mb so i put another 512 in it which made a great improvement.Just wondering why when i try to upgrade further this is happening. If i remove the second 512 & put the 256 back in it works fine. .
I'm trying to edit some video for a short film so any feedback is much appreciated at this point. So anyways, the display on my computer monitor turned black on me. Worst of all, I didn't even do anything to provoke this, it just all of a sudden turned black. This happened once before but I just restarted the computer and it worked again. Does anyone have any idea what's happening? Is it actually the monitor or something else.
I have Windows XP OS installed on my HP Pavilion 753n Desktop. I currently have 512MB SDRAM loaded, and want to upgrade with another 512MB. Is it necessary to update my BIOS settings (current BIOS on computer is dated 11 September 2002) prior to upgrading the memory?
I NEED urgent help, not THIS computer but the person I live with's computer is EXTREMELY slow, things take up to 10-20 minutes to open sometimes, it takes at least 15 minutes to start up or shut down, everything lags, we've tried EVERYTHING, virus scanning, spyware, malware, cleaning the registry, defraging the registry and harddrive, cleaning up, EVERYTHING, anytime you shut down after applying some sort of setting it says it's saving the settings and then you start it back up and it acts like it never saved it, it goes back to the OLD CRAPPY settings, puts every error back on that the program found, recently the boot.ini has become corrupt or invalid, there are two hard drives with plenty of space and we've had this problem for a couple of years! We can't figure out what to do, we both have the same computer, bought it at the same time, mine runs like a charm but their's does not at all, the cpu usage is sky high when you aren't doing anything and sometimes it is 0% when you ARE doing stuff. There is about 10 or more svchost.exe's running, two under a seperate username and none of which we can stop. There are diagnostic lights on the back BUT anytime there is anything wrong with the lights we look in the manual and on the offical website and NO ONE HAS THE LIGHT COMBONATION THAT WE DO!! It's a Dell Dimension 2400, right now it has both 512MB and a 128MB RAM memory stick, we can't upgrade the memory or it fails and starts beeping, Windows XP Home Edition,
I have a Dell 8400, XP Home Edition SP 2 that came pre-installed. I purchased a retail XP Pro SP2 upgrade. It won't install. I get the message: The pid is not valid for this version of Windows XP. Provide the pid that came with the Windows XP upgrade CD. I know its not from the Product Key I'm giving it being invalid, because when I intentionally type it in wrong, I get another kind of error message about a bad PID. Also, I purchased the retail from a large office supply chain. So, why can't I use a retail upgrade XP Pro on top of a OEM XP home?
My PC seems to be working fine, running along. I went up close and checked if anything was fryed/unplugged yet no problems. My PC can turn on, but my monitor, keyboard AND mouse doesn't work
My computer totally crashed and I had to go in and format the MBR and load the Ntldr file as well. But now when I try to do a fresh install and boot from the XP cd i get to where I press the F8 to agree and the message I get is as follows:
"The setup can not find a previous version of windows installed on your computer. To continue, setup needs to verify that you qualify to use this upgrade product. Please insert your windows NT3.51,windows NT4.0, windows 2000 CD into the specified drive and click enter to continue".I know this sounds like I am using a Upgrade CD to Windows XP but the CD i am using IS a full OEM Version of Windows XP and NOT a upgrade version
I want to upgrade from ME to XP. I ran the upgrade Advisor for XP and have found a few issues I may need to address. The main issue for me is the internet.
If someone could take a look at these results and tell me what will happen? I'm not sure and don't want to crash anything or not be able to connect to the internet. Setup found hardware or software on your computer that might not or will not work with Windows XP. You should read and understand this upgrade report before continuing.........
using windows xp with no problem til this morning. computer normal til shut down then returned a short while later. both edges have wavy lines with black showing plus screen is blurry. monitor is about 6-7 years old while computer about 3years. feel like been on all night drunk looking at screen with a drop of booze.
Anyone else having issues with their network shares after winxp update? I didn't upgrade to SP3 because this upgrade had caused a problem for me also. Just did a few security fixes.. Is there a way to fix this without having to uninstall all the patches?
For whatever reason, my Function Key isn't working- so I can't turn up my monitor brightness on my laptop. Is there a way to do this from the menu rather than the Function keys?
the monitor works fine(tried it on another computer) all cables are good the AGP video card works(tried it on another computer) mother board gets power, u can hear the HD and etc startup, but i get the error message on the monitor "self test check your pc and signal cable monitor is working" my knowlege is that, since the monitor and video card worked with another computer, and in my main computer the video card is powered, and the fan is on, somemother thing is not allowing the signal the mother board to the video card to the monitor
every so often on my friend's computer explorer.exe just stops working and the cpu goes up to 100% and everything takes for ever. the only way we have gotten it to quit is to restart the computer, but then it comes back later. does anyone have any ideas or solutions to the problem?
my system is XP Pro with two drives CD and DVD writer. My CD/DVD auto run suddenly stop working. It was working before last week. But now when i insert any CD or DVD in my drives, i won't get auto run prompt window anymore. Who can i make it work again?
i have msn messenger 7.5, but it seems like the 7.0 version is always running, although it isnt seen anywere on the system tray. whenever i log on to the 7.5 version, i get a message from the older version that i connected at another place. in addition, when the 7.5 version is off, keep getting all sorts of "user online" messeges from the older version
ive just noticed within the last couple days that my sreensaver isnt kicking in. i did install a new mouse this last week, bu ti dont think that would affect it. i wasnt quit sure what was meant by adding the ss to the front of the name, but the only name i could think of is that folder that the pictures are in. the screensaver has worked for years, so i cant think of why it would just stop working, and thats what lead me to believe that the installation of the mouse could have affected it.
Remote desktop on the XP Pro I have stopped working all of sudden.
