Is it possible to make a Windows XP Install CD that would have all drivers already installed? I have seen this feature on some notebooks like Fujitsu Siemens and Sony VAIO, they had all the drivers preinstalled. Is there a way to make such CDs my self.
View 2 RepliesI bought my mom a used computer with Windows XP. If it ever gets messed up I won't be able to reinstall Windows since the computer didn't come with any disks. Is there any way to make a backup copy of Windows XP in the event that I ever need to reinstall it for her? Also, we don't have the administrator password for the computer that was set by the previous owner.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to install a operating system disk xp pro which was supposed to be an unnattended install, but I wish I had attended now, I dont know what its done but when I came back it had a message 'setup cannot copy the file irmk7w2k to skip this file press escape to quit setup press f3 to retry press enter' I decided to quit setup and run my own os disk again I have used this disk plenty of times but this time it came up with the same message that I got on the other disk. So I thought something had been left on the harddrive so I put my wipe clean cd in to clean the hard drive and then I formatted and I was still getting the same message on setup. How can this be happening and how do I fix it? Thanks. I have an os on now but it is corrupted and I cannot get online there are plenty of files missing because I pressed skip this file plenty of times just to get some sort of operating system on. I really need help I am typing this on another pc.

When its starts up its goes to the windows start when it starts to go to the log in part. The video goes all crazy and i can't see anything when i start it in safe mode its fine.

I used a �Boot CD� and got the following information:

I have winxp on the 40 bg (single c: partition) as well as some files, and data and music on the 160 gb (about 50 or so gb full one partition-F. I want to take the F drive, the bigger one, and put it in my new computer. also, i want to install winxp PRO on the F: drive. so,can i add another partition on there now (so i dont lose files- i have insufficient room to backup F to C) and install xp pro, can i move the harddrive later and install xppro? basically, i want to lose no data and am unsure i have enough room to backup F, is there a way or program i can use to add a nother partition to an already formatted disk,what is the best way to do this?

I have 9 folders and a few tiny files on C: and very few programs installed.If I add the sizes of 9 folders (Windows-3.09 GB Program files-1GB) I only get about 5GB.What or where might the other 4 GB be?

My sister-in-law's Dell Dimension 8400 is getting that error when she starts the PC. She can't locate the disks that came with the PC and I only have an XP Pro disk. I tired add new hardware wizard but when it gets to the part where I can pick the hardware I am trying to install it doesn't list any CD rom drives. If it's do-able with nlite.I suppose if the windows files are .cabbed or zipped, I�d have to extract them to a folder on the HD, along with all the other XP files.....then point nlite to the folder.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't make a good MS-DOS startup disk (for BIOS flashing) from XP SP2.I select the "Make an MS-DOS startup disk" from the Format dialog.Sometimes it gives up without a warning (i.e. the progress bar resets itself and the "Start" button goes active again). Sometimes it completes with a success message. However the disks never boot. I get the following messages from the BIOS (abbreviated a bit!): Looking for boot record on floppy... OK I've tried with a least 7 different floppy disks, all with the same result. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get it to work? I've also tried to make a MS-DOS boot disk on a Windows 2000 machine by downloading some freeware, but this does not work. I think the floppy drive is OK because I can boot from a Linux floppy disk (memtest86).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a pentium 3 933 mhz with a 40 gb hd. the hd had a 50/50 partition and i wanted to reformat the entire disk then make my own partitions and then re-install xp.
what i did:
1. i used a program called killdisk to wipe out the hd
2. used win98 fdisk to set partitions
3. plugged the hd in my other comp as a slave and used a pirate copy of xp pro to install on the drive
The hd wont load on my computer after setting it back to master drive with xp pro on it, all it says is 'verifying dmi pool data" my other comp asks me what OS to boot with every time, even though only one is present.
How to make disk cleanup work properly? It used to work. Now afte you selected/checked what you want to clean up, such as recycle bin and temporary internet files, then it only goes to four or five bars and never completes. Does anyone out there have an

We had an Acer Netbook Aspire One crash a couple of weeks ago. We have tried to restore and a varety of other things.The Netbook DOES NOT have a CD drive nor do we have an external CD drive.We have a 1Gig USB stick, We ended up by having to order 2 discs from Acer - 1 to fix the partition and one to fix Windows.How do we make the stick bootable? Would prefer it in simple terms please.

What i want to do is to make my Hard Disk Drive as my My Music folder: Whenever you click or go into My Music, it will act as a shortcut and head straight to the Hard Disk Drive. The reason for this is so I have a Hard Disk Drive full of music while my original HDD has all the other stuff. I tried going into the bios to change the boot order to cd to format and I can't. Can anyone tell me what to do.I changed out his hard drive with mine and it does nothing. just posts and goes to a black screen instead of trying to boot and blue screening as it usually do when you change hardrives between two computers.Changed the Ide cables no luck.
