Question to you all is what kinda of memory would I be looking for?Cause I have 256MB and im looking to increase that.. My desires is to improve my computer's speed and performance.. As I can NOT buy online, I would have to be buying memory at a store
A drop down window recently appeared stating that my computer was low on virtual memory and windows was going to increase it. I have never seen this message before. After conducting some research the site said the virtual memory should be at least 100MB. My computer shows the minimum at 384 and the maximum at 768. I don't know how much Windows increased the memory but should it be changed higher than 384?
I re-installed one of my games that I used to play a year back and it tells me that I need 12MB of video memory for it to work. I had played this game on the same PC before one year ago, so I do not know why it is telling my PC now that it doesn't have sufficient video memory. Everything was running smoothly when I played the game a year ago.Has it got anything to do with the increasing number of files I downloaded or some of the programs I have installed over the year? How do I check how much video memory I am currently using? More importantly, how do I physically increase video memory?
My son likes to play around with the sound recorder on my computer. For some reason it has quit working. It says not enough memory to complete this operation. Quit one or more application to increase available memory and try again.
I was trying to download an update for my NAV and i keep getting this Windows-Virtual memory is low-Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file.During this Process,Memory applications may be denied.
I am trying to increase my virtual memory and am doing so the way I am supposed to by running "control sysdm.cpl" and going to the appropriate steps and then restarting my computer. What is happening, though, is when I go back to it my settings are saved in the "custom sized" places as the new values I put in, but the "currently allocated" amount doesn't change at all. Shouldn't the currently allocated amount change to the minimum I designate in the custom allocation box?Right now, the only way to get my graphics program to work faster is by overloading my memory so that Windows will automatically increase the virtual memory. Why don't my custom settings change anything?
I have started getting na error message about the virtual memory on my laptop being low and needing to increase the paging file. I have increased the size of it but I am still getting it. The laptop is only 3 months old, and the usage has not changed in any way whatsoever, i done a full cleanup a few weeks ago and all was running smooth. It was only appear the last 3 days for some reason and its really really bugging me as the entire laptop slows down and has to be rebooted the whole time.
When I run the application of windows media player wihtout playing any video files, I test the memory usage in the following aspects: working set, pages files, virtual memory. When I play the mp3 in the background and connect the internet in the foreground in the windows media player, the working set, pages files, virtual memory all increase
I am trying to upgrade the RAM memory on my Gateway MX3230 notebook. It presently has 256 MB and I would like to upgrade to 1 GB. I have checked the Gateway website and and upgrade to 1 GB is acceptable. I purchased a memory module from Kingston which was listed as being compatible with my laptop. When I tried installing the module, the computer will not start, nothing but black screen. It's as thought there is no memory at all. I tried re-installing the module making sure it was inserted in as far as it will go, still no luck. There is no settings in bios that I can see that would prevent the acceptance of this module
I am using Intel pentium 4 cpu 2.40GHz, 1.25 GB RAM. Iam using 80 GB samsung hard disk. I installed Microsoft Windows XP Professional service pack 2 on a drive of 10 GB memory space with NTFS file system. After the installation of Win XP, the drive properties shows 4.9 GB of used memory and only 4.45 GB of free memory, but when I try to find total memory occupied for all the files in that drive (using "select-all" and properties) the used memory is only 2.3 GB only.
Now I don't understand the huge difference of this memories calculations. Where that extra used memory gone, when the total memory occupied by all the files is much less.
why my Windowx XP sees only 1024 MB memory while I've increased the original memory of 512 MB by 2x 512 MB ?My motherboard has three DDR-slots. It had from the beginning a Kingston K 512MB PC2700 module in slot #1. This week I've added two Kingston K512 UDIMM 512MB PC2700 modules in the slots #2 and #3.All three modules has the type name KVR333X64C25/512, so I thought they would be compatible.
Have u seen what happens when u increase the Windows System Year from 2099.This was a nice and disturbing thing that I found out yesterday. Just go to the Windows Clock located on the bottom left corner of the screen and double click on it. Double clicking on it will bring up the Date and Time Properties Dialog Box. Now increase the Year field. Now the magic starts. The moment u cross 2099 the Year becomes 1980. So…â€.now what. As u can clearly see when the year 2099 comes (and ends) the next ear on Ur Windows calendar will become 1980. That is u r actually going back in time (hahaha…). As u can now have understood the implications can be manifold. U we staring at another Y2.1 scenario.Should not the Microsoft guys come out with a clarification for this glaring mistake?
I was told by my norton tech that the reason my computer was running slow was the rams. He said I should upgrade to 2 GB, but my computer only has two slots and the one it takes can't go higher than 256 so right now I have two 128 mb if I put in two 256 mb ram will it run faster, will it be worth it? It runs real slow, and has been cleaned up by the norton tech.
I have 160GB hard disk in which I have Windows XP installed in C drive(25GB). My E: drive is another primary partition(35GB). Rest of the partitions are made extended, in which F: (40GB), I40GB) are logical drives. The balance 20GB is a free space under the extended partition in which no logical drive is made. My system has become slow, because the system drive C: has very low amount free space available. So I thought of getting above 20GB free space to C: so that it would be 45GB overall. How can I expand C: drive? I have partition magic installed on my PC.
I have two partitions, Drive C and Drive D. My drive C is full but I have alot of memory on D. Can I increase the size of C by allocating the memory from D without formating my computer?

My system is running on windows xp 2nd edition(it is uptodate with all new updates installed),160HD,1GB Ram,i have an 256kbps broadband net connection.i want my xp to boot fast.
In my quest for XP tweaks to increase speed and boot up speed etc I read the other day that changing to Windows classic makes a difference in speed, but I was wondering if my system was XP then would not the XP theme not be faster as it would be the default? I also read that changing the start menu to classic would help, again I have the same question, would not the default be faster? It's all the small tweaks that added up make a bit of a difference.
How do I increase the size of my wallpaper. It appears as a little square when I turn on my computer. I am currently using a picture of Belveder Terrace in Central Park in NYC. I am using Windows XP
My wife is actually the computer whiz in the family, but she's out of town and I could use some help. We are running Win. XP. Our C drive is full and I was wondering if there's some way to extend the file size. There's not enough room to defrag (15% needed?). I've deleted some apps, but it's not enough. Mail, everything is affected.
Not so much a *problem* I'm having, but wondering how I can improve my set-up. Whenever I burn an audio or (much longer) data disc, it typically takes a good 20 mins for my laptop. (specs in my bio) This eve. my friend's desktop burned a data disc in less than 2 minutes! I was shocked. HOW do I increase my burning speed?? His pc was a few GBs, would I need to increase mine (started off w/80, have 37.6 free GB left) or upgrade my RAM?
I am running Windows XP in a Compaq Presario, with CD reader and CD/DVD burner. My question: How do I get a DVD(with photos and sound) onto a Flash Memory stick or an SD card??
I have a white box Pentium 4 CPU with XP professional service pack 2 build 2600 installed. The motherboard is an intel D865GLC with 512 MB RAM installed in Dual channel mode with 1 256 MB stick of ram in slot zero of bank 1 and 1 256 MB stick of ram in slot zero of bank 2. This memory is dual channel compatible. I tried to add another 2 sticks of the same type ram but from a different manufacturer. Here's the problem: I can use any 2 of the 4 sticks of ram together, both from the same manufacturer or 1 from 1 manufacturer and 1 from the other for a total of 512 MB. Everything works fine. I can place one stick in slot 0 of bank 1 and the other in slot 0 of bank 2 or I can place 1 in slot 1 bank 1 and 1 in slot 1 of bank 2 with no problems. I can even place a 3rd stick of the same type ram in any open slot and all's fine (except the machine complains that this is not an optimal memory setup). Memtest86 reports no errors with any of the above configurations
I tried to increase the size of my C drive by deleting the D drive partition. The D drive was deleted but the C drive size appears the same. How can I now increase the size of the C drive to fully occupy the space that the D drive previously took up. I would like to end up with one large C drive and no partition.

This is a sudden development - although I haven't installed anything new or made any changes recently.I can increase the font size on the screen OK, but whatever I print is still the same tiny sized printout on paper. Appreciate some help and advice as to how to make my printout readable
