Sep 26, 2005I lost all sound on my PC, ( example: even if someone logs on MSn I dont hear them, I cant listen to music.PS This morning everything was fine & all was working ).

Loosing Mapped Drives / Loosing Connectivity To Drives?
Jun 6, 2005I work for a fire department and they have Desktop Authority map certain network drives when they login. For some reason, DTA will map the drives when they login, and everything works fine, but after an hour or two, they lose connectivity to that drive and are no longer able to access it. I know this is very vague, but has anyone had this problem?BTW, I just recently upgraded from NT 4.0 to Server 2003 Standard, and we've had tons of other little problems with permissions and the like. Is this the cause of the dissapearing drives?

Jul 21, 2010I have been having nasty problems with my PC recently like loosing connection to DVD-Drive code 9 and code 41, also my internet connection went haywire by not leting me use any internet programs and i can't even look my internet settings through ipconfig /all also just today my graphics driver went berzerk and now i can only use the lowest resolution possible with 256 colors in windows.
I scanned through the PC and there were 3 trojan backdoors. I managed to clear them, but still the system is messed up. For some reason i had also lost all the restorepoints and the "last good know configuration" is not helping me out... So i'm planing to take the last step and reinstall the whole Windows. So i tought why not mess around for fun.What happens if i delete all my register entries? Do i dare to do it since i don't want to loose any data?
Loosing About 01. GB (10 MB) Of Free Disk Space Per DAY?
Aug 13, 2007Two hard disks, C and D. C is the one on which all the files are, D is empty (what is it good for, by the way?). C has an overall capacity of 27.95 GB of which 12.9 is occupied. Now, I have noticed (for two or three months, I never bothered looking before) that I am losing .01 GB of disk space PER DAY. Thus, day before yesterday, I had 15.05 GB of remaining free space, yesterday 15.04 GB and today it is 15.03.

Feb 24, 2006Why am i loosing my connection? Getting on line is no problem, but the moment i attempt to change to another website i loose my connection, in otherwords i am brought to the page that says "This page is not available etc etc" If i press the "Back" key i am brought back to the previous page not the page i tried to go to. Or if i press refresh it also will bring me to the previous page. An my second attempt at getting the desired web page it is then successful. This process is an everyday, all the time issue with the internet. I am running XP-PRO, 600MHZ, 256MB, sbc iNTERNET SERVICE. Folks what are my options?

Aug 21, 2005my problem is, after each restore was completed, i lost 1GB of free space on my C drive. by the 5th restore, i was up to losing 2GB of free space on my C drive. i know this because i went to My Computer looked at the amount of free disc space on my C drive. after doing the 5 or so restores, i've lost a total of about 6 GB of my C drive's free space. why is that happening? how do i get that space back?

Apr 2, 2006Two computers connected via a router , I already check if the work group is set and yes they are in the same work group by the same name but we are not sharing a printer or files, we don't have a home network set. Well the point is that sometimes I get disconnect from the internet but the other computer still works online, so I have to reboot or even start up again the computer. we already RESET the router but after that, I already get twice again disconnected need to reboot again, I am missing something that I oversee and its producing this disconnection.

Aug 5, 2007I have an EXTERNAL HD. I formatted it in FAT a few months ago. Ever since then, my laptop PC was unable to recognize the unit, but the Mac (which is not working right now, unfortunately) never had a problem with it. When I connect it to my laptop PC via USB, the USB icon shows up and the "USB Mass Storage Device Properties" says the "device is working properly." But the folder doesn't show up in My Computer, and diskmgmt.msc says the device is "Unallocated." Hopefully that doesn't mean the unit crashed because I have some stuff on there.Without losing the data (that should be on it, unless it crashed), I want to convert this thing to NTFS. I did some Google searching, but the instructions on how to do this (they say use convert.exe) aren't working. Moreover, no one mentioned how to convert an External, secondary HD.

Jul 16, 2008After a while my sound will cut out and when I try to play things in Winamp or anything it will stay stuck @ 0:00The sounds will sputter for a second and then freeze. Also when the sound dies, sometimes programs will start to freeze up to the point I can't even kill them in tskmgr. System sounds don't play either.I've tried updating to the latest drivers. I tried an older version of the drivers too.

Apr 11, 2007This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows. Could windows be preventing my audio card from working?
Sound Problem In XP, Realtek Works But Sound Is Gone
Mar 3, 2007When i start my pc skype says that he hasn't found recording hardware. Itunes doesn't work, like Windows Media Player, Winamp etc. The sound is gone. I tried to fix it myself, cause i disabled a driver that seemed to have a problem, but i don't remember what the name was. Now not only the programs have no sound anymore, but windows is silent too. It sure wasn't the driver of my sound card. I installed Everest and he doesn't find any Windows Audio, and says the realtek has "noDB". When i am in the music tab of the "Diagnostic help program for DirectX" "windows synthesizer" test sound doesn't play, but the realtek does.

Apr 9, 2008This is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

I downloaded a fanfare i wanted to use and changed it to a WAV file, but when Windows starts, i only get the first note, about half a second.
