Is there a site or something that i can go to and download more color schemes for the windows XP style theme, where i dont have to download extra software.... such as windowsblinds?

I wondered if there was a way to add new color schemes (and for that matter, a place to specifically find new color schemes) without installing software like Style XP or WindowBlinds. I just want to configure the color scheme, not everything else. Can this be done?

View 14 Replies View Relatedwell my dads new high tech workstation that he just updated and prepared for professional work will not save themes as classic or keep his color settings.he sais at work when the optimized the pc that it worked great and as soon as he braught it home this started happening.does anyone know what could be the cause of this? basically everytime he sets the winows to "classic view" as soon as he restarts its back to normal.my dad is one of those ocd ppl so hes all getting freaked out over it.

Am I reading this correctly, or will it download and LET me install at my convenience? MS Instructions says to turn OFF AV before installing and I am not about to turn off AV while internet is turned on.
I am trying to download win XP, sp3, (for single computer, NOT for "IT" version) and it seems that MS does not want that to happen. I have spent the last hour searching for a MANUAL download of SP3, and not having any luck. Found several ways to get the "IT" version but there is a warning on the site, " NOT for single computers". I want to have a copy of SP3 for future needs and do not want to DISABLE AV while downloading. MS site advises to disable AV before installing SP3. Can anyone give me a link that will let me download SP3 and save to file, for individual computer?
I have a problem that I can't figure out. When I go to windows update on the start menu I get sent to www.msn.com.Also when I click on Microsoft update it just grinds and grinds.Also when I go to the windows updates web page and try to download something manually it validates my machine and presents a clickable download button. When I click on it I get a very small windows pop up that says page not found.I can not download anything off of Microsoft's site.When I go to update superantivirus I get an error that says "There is an error trying to retrieve definitions" "Make sure your firewall is not blocking superantispyware.exe from accessing Internet"When I go to update adaware I get can' find Internet connection.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI'm a Mac User but bought a golf sky caddy (uses GPS to find your distances on a golf course) which required connecting the device via USB to the computer, loading a PC based driver and then having the website "communicate" with the device to download information.I successfully loaded the driver but to an error message from IE 6 says to the effect: "there is a security issue here and we're not going to let you access that web site". That dialogue box says "click here" for options around this. But that function does not work.

Can anyone tell me where I might be able to download the XP theme that looks "silver"? You know, but default, XP's theme is "blue" the start menu's color is "blue", and the taskbar is blue?
Was upgraded to Office 2003 but has plain gray borders; I had it at last firm and overall look was blue which I believe was the XP theme. Under Display Properties > Color scheme, Windows XP is not a choice. I'm thinking I'm missing the XP Theme (Themes as a service is running) but can't seem to find the download on www.microsoft.com
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded an icon theme from www.everaldo.com The icons look great but I have no idea how to apply them. I downloaded it as a .tar.gz and then I extracted it to a folder containing folders with different sized icon, a file called ".dolphinview" and an "index.theme" file. I tried simply opening the index.theme file from "themes" in display properties but it cannot read it. When I open it in OOO and compare it to a theme it looks very different, a theme starts with [Theme] whereas this begins with [Icon Theme]. I think I am supposed to attach the index.theme file to my theme but I have no idea how.

All mail from this site has images blocked and most links not working, and I can't access the Web site in Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Netscape browsers suddenly. However, if I read my email or try to access the site on another computer, everything is fine. I remember clicking something having to do with the content on this page being "unsigned," but I haven't been able to find a way to fix the problem. When I've cleared cookies, history, cache, files, and unchecked all security everywhere, I sometimes can access the Web site until I close the browser and re-open it (even with no changes made), but the images and links are still blocked in my hotmail.

I change the name servers and they have propgated because I checked the DNS on a DNS report website and the domain name points to the new host. Everyone can connect to the new host and view my web site except for me. The only way I can connect and view my web site is if I go to it through a proxy. I tried flushing the cache. I tried clearing the temporary internet files and history. I tried disabling the negative caching through the registry. I tried restarting the dns client service.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've found a way to get a theme out of XP-Windows Server 2003 without using the theme service. It's basically a variation of the silver theme. The steps are assuming you don't have the theme service turned on.
1.Open the Run command and type in services.msc
2.Find Themes, double click it and start the service
Normally I would go to the control panel, then hit display, then screen saver. At the bottom there is a butten to control power. I used to have several options as to when to go stand by etc. It is all gone. Can someone tell me how to get that back. It is running one of the schemes now but there is nothing shown. This is on XP.

I have noticed that I am missing some power schemes now when I try to access them using the power options choice on control panel. I am missing "always on" "presentation" "minimal power management" and "max battery".I don't know why they don't appear in the drop down menu under power schemes as "home/office" and "portable/laptop" and my "test" schemes are there.I have found these schemes exist in my registry in several locations by typing "powercfg" in the registry editor.Hopefully someone will know how to restore them. Is there an *.inf file to right click to reinstall? I found a bunch, just not sure which one it might be.

I have reset rcgfrestore.reg, and savesettings.reg per KellysKorner items # 204 right, and #30. After going online for a while, "turn off monitor" changes from "never" to "15 minutes", and "turn off hard drive" changes from "never" to "1 hour". View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do you copy power schemes for one profile (the Admin or Setup profile) across all profiles that log on to that machine. Users are created in the standard folders under documents and settings, however their windows settings seem to be setup via some sort of profile creation script that windows uses. I have tried copying profile information from the setup profile to default and all users profiles... but it seems to make no difference. What I am looking to do is to keep all users profiles constantly ON, instead of standby after 20 min without changing each profile each time a new one is created.

I searched around the internet as well and found similiar issues but none with a solid solution. I was hoping to find one here. My problem deals with the Power Scheme in Windows XP Pro SP2. When I try to set the amount of time before my monitor turns off, it doesnt work properly. After the specified time has elapsed, the monitor would go dark and it would say "Monitor is going into sleep mode" which is normal for my monitor (HP f2105 wide flat screen lcd). But then just as it sleeps, about 1 second later, my windows desktop appears like it never went to sleep at all. When I move my mouse I notice my desktop flickers for a split second.Similiar threads on the net suggested there were some third party programs that is keeping my system active or things like my mouse sensitivity moving etc. I tried removing all my perperphials but it still doesnt seem to work.
I recently reformatted my machine and installed the essentional programs/windows updates/etc. I run on a ATI X1950 PRO 512MB video card and installed the new Catalyst 7.12 software package for my drivers. Everything was working perfectly. The Monitor turn off option even worked then.... until I noticed this new driver package seems to be a bit buggy. My monitor would turn black as I would be viewing videos off the internet with my WMP or whatever Im using and all I am left to do is reset by pressing my power button or switching the PSU button (Although strangely, 3D applications ran flawlessly).So I got an earlier version Catalyst 7.10 and installed that and everything is working awesome again... execpt the Power Scheme mode to turn off my monitor. I am unclear on why it would be doing this by just installing another set of drivers for my video card. I am assuming there is some mix up in some file somewhere thats still being used, but thats just pure guessing now.
I recall even before I reformatted I had the *SAME* issue. I was using video drivers 7.8 or so without any problems and decided to update to the latest 7.12 and thats when I *FIRST* noticed that power scheme monitor turn off didnt work any longer. So I decided it was time to do a fresh clean install and I used the Catalyst 7.12 and it worked with the power scheme option. Its this transition between drivers or something... or perhaps ATIs drivers are faultly at the moment and it'll fix itself with future updates... but then again other people around the net with similiar problems didnt have ATI video cards, they had Nvidia.I am assuming it has to do with my video drivers somehow since thats the last thing I installed/changed before the problem appeared. I went into MSCONFIG and diagnostic startup and checked to see if my power scheme monitor turn off worked there and it did..I was hoping to find an easier solution rather then narrowing down each and every startup application/services in MSCONFIG and then figuring out why its doing this all just to turn off my monitor.
My sound scemes have all the sudden died. I keep going back to the control panel and re-saving the default and schemes, but it doesn't ever seem to work. i am at a loss,

(Windows classic, Teal, Brick, maple etc.) I don't really like any of the schemes, but I don't want to bother with Style XP, or Windows Blinds or any of those programs again.
